  1. From Vox, “According to the report, audience members booed his defense of his rival and called Obama a “liar” and a “terrorist.” “I want to fight, and I will fight,” he said. “But I will be respectful. I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments, and I will respect him.” Obama went on to defeat McCain in the presidential election in November 2008.“ I am pretty sure the segment of his base that was booing him stayed home and contributed to his loss. Feel free to believe otherwise.
  2. McCain, lost by more than 9.5 million votes. I hope we can agree that there could have been more than one reason.
  3. Choosing Palin DID show a lack of judgement. However it would not have mattered. The country was in the throws of Obama mania.
  4. Lean in one way and vote in another and see who wins. Let’s be honest, after eight years of Bush, the country had grown weary of the Rs, and Obama was the new shiny object.
  5. Then why did he bring in Palin? Was he just that stupid? EVERYONE knew Palin was an idiot. If he could have won by being a RINO, why didn’t he?
  6. Not true, in my opinion. He was the darling of the press because he pushed back against his own party. When they had Obama, his role was redundant and unnecessary and the press turned on him. In a desperate attempt to remain viable he lurched to the right, and nobody way buying what he was selling.

My wife planned a beautiful family day, starting out with going to my seven year old’s football game. Then she planned on a nice drive through the county on the way to a farm to get homemade ice cream, negotiate a corn maze and pet some farm critters. On the way home we would pick up some pumpkins and mums for our fall decorations. Instead she got nothing but fighting, complaining and more fighting. She wanted Norman Rockwell instead she got Ralph Steadman.
  8. That is what everyone says about Viagra
  9. The coverage is useless if one can’t afford the deductible and we still have 50 million + without coverage.
  10. Don’t be so sure, that hysterectomy coverage might come in handy some day, and don’t forget your free birth control pills.
  11. He was the darling of the press and was known as the “Maverick of the Senate” for going against his base. A role that Romney now fills. He unsuccessfully tried to energize ‘the base’ w his VP pick. Trump, on the other hand, demonstrated what can be done by energizing ‘the base’. (He may just beat the odds again. Here in PA Republican registrations are up 75k and Ds are down 50k)
  12. I have been sitting around the fire with my neighbor; a liberal Democrat, college professor and good friend and yes we were drinking. I must have had a few because I thought my post was brilliant
  13. McCain took a proactive stance, pushing back against his base, to quash a negative narrative about his opponent. Result? He Lost. Same w Romney. Trump went to the Saul Alinsky school of politics.... result? President Trump and three Supreme Court justices. For that matter, Mitch McConnell sat at the foot of Harry Reid for years and learned all of the dirty tricks he is now employing. Congratulations, you reap what you sow.
  14. McCain took the initiative and went out of his way to disabuse the narrative. The best Obama could muster to a fellow Democrat was telling HRC that she “was likable enough”. Never heard him say a kind word about Romney.
  15. Paid all of his taxes, never abused an animal, never cheated on his wife and gave away millions to charity.
  16. It is noteworthy that Obama never said the same of Romney. He let the narrative that Romney was a tax cheating, animal abusing monster take hold while knowing it was not true.
  17. I never said it was virtuous, I just said that’s the way it is. Look at how Harry Reid took down Romney. He told a lie on the Senate floor about Romney not paying taxes, the press reported it and when he was asked what his source was, he said he read about it in press reports. When called out by a reporter AFTER the election he smirked and said “It worked, didn’t it”...Realpolitik

  19. I had been watching news all day and Fridays are pizza and TV/movie night, (7 and11 year old kids aren’t big on Rachael Maddox) watching Return of the Jedi now.
  20. Seems like I was wrong (see I can admit it) looks like it will be Judge Amy Coney Barrett. My wife has the remote and she is watching Wheel of Fortune and won’t let me change to MSNBC
  21. Isn’t that EXACTLY what Obama did to the Republicans over the ACA? “Elections have consequences...in case you haven’t noticed, I won, get over it”
  22. RBG was nominated by a President who did not receive a majority. HRC did not get a majority either.
  23. I’m thinking Trump will nominate Lagoa, while he down in Fla. It will help him with the Cuban American community and blow RBG right out of the news cycle. If there is something Trump hates most of all is not being the center of attention. It will be a classless move (if he does it) but that would be pure Trump
