You are talking about sponges. However, it is a matter of balance. There are already huge number of natural sponges on the bottom of the ocean. If we pull them up and wring them out, the water that is released would cause the ocean level to rise momentarily, causing coastal flooding. After dropping the sponges on the hurricane, the hurricane would be absorbed and the sponges would return to the ocean floor. You've got a good idea there. High molecular weight hydrophilic polymers to be exact...but the EPA says they caused lung cancer in some animals. But it did work in field tests supposedly on smaller storms. Oh well. Anyone know where I can get some cheap but durable jumpsuits for Dixie's students? We've been using some plain jumpsuits from Bodysport USA that are just polycotton without grippers or booties and they work great, but they want like $150 for them. That's a little pricey for the club, anyone know of another company that makes good student jumpsuits? I did it in New Zealand but they took us up a wimpy little hill. Plus all the sheep were out in the field and it was covered (the field) in old sheep poo. It's fun to let the Zorb roll over you. Some 85 year old lady that was in our tour group decided she wanted to do it. Rose will forever kick ass for that. I have a cop friend and he said back when he was working the roads he only pulled over people who were really busting the speed limit. If he had to pull you over you were going to get a ticket. One time he pulled over a couple of girls and got out his ticket book and went through the whole license and registration thing and walked back to his car to call it in and start filling out the paperwork. But when he started trying to fill out the form the pen broke and wouldn't write. He fooled with it for a minute but couldn't get it to work, so he set about trying to find another pen in the car. He searched the whole car, including the trunk but couldn't find another pen. So he clipped the broken pen the girls license and registration and walked back up to her car. My cat came from a shelter on Christmas Eve 17 years ago. She is still alive but just barely hanging in there. Also she has no tail. Noone will fess up to what happened to the cat's tail, but we suspect it was in some way my mom's fault. Oh, and she drools when you pet her and has lost some ability to retract her claws. This means when she tries to jump on you but is too old to make it, her claw digs into your leg and leaves her suspended from it. This usually leads to great deals of cussing and yelling. Poor Lacy.
