    Jumping Smoke

    My mom finally came out to see me jump this weekend, I guess after a year of asking her she finaly decided I must know what I'm doing but she couldn't see me in the air until I was under canopy and even then had a hard time figuring out which chute was mine so I want to jump with smoke but the DZO say's that it will ruin my gear with the dye?? Does it?? can it be cleaned?? Is there a good brand of smoke that won't ruin my gear?

  4. #22 my fault I forgot to turn on the astra AAD before the load, looked down at the light and turned it on in the plane (at about 3000') Jumped from 13000 deployed at 4500' at the same time the astra fired. Two canopies out both ok after I removed my head out of the reserve lines. Down plane in about 3 sec so I cut away the main all good by 2500' now I have about 146 jumps.
  5. walked in to the dz last week and thought I saw someone who looked familiar, but when he opened his mouth I was sure. Had Mandy Patinkin (from Chicago Hope, Princess Bride) and his son over for a tandem which can be seen on the Today Show Sept 15th if you'd like to see what Richland Skysports looks like here in Washington. Who have you guy's spotted at your dropzones and do you have any video. P.S. he admitted after the jump that he pee'd himself a little on the ride up.

We were 20 in the plane and pretty scrunched in sitting on two benches my coach was on the other bench about two people in front of me and I was going to say something to him just before I turned it on but he was too far with all the noise of the twin engins so I thought "I better turn this on just in case" and like I said It didn't dawn on me what I was doing. The one good thing is that I found out that I wouldn't freeze and knew how to get out of it quick.
  8. Just low experience. With the Astra AAD I had to turn it off every time I landed and then back on before the jump but I forgot and didn't think about what I was doing. Now I have a Cypress and turn it on as soon as I open my bag at the beginning of the day.
  9. About my 20th jump I entered the aircraft with my Astra AAD turned off. In the plane I looked down and saw that it was off and without thinking I turned it on at about 3500ft. Jumped at 13,000 went to deploy at 4500 and boom I had two canopies out. Main was above me, reserve was below and coming up fast but I first had to get my foot out of the reserve lines then off my head. When the two seperated I cut the main away and still had 2200 to get back to the DZ for my lecture on GEAR CHECK now theres a sign at the gate made especially for me. NO GEAR CHECK NO PLANE RIDE!!
