  1. Narcissism breeds the pretense of self-importance and the desire for attention...just my guess. So what? Don't like her posts, don't open the thread
  2. Thank you for posting this. What an incredible human being that Margaret was!
  3. I agree with this statement 100%. The word "cute" can also sound condescending. It's just not a word that I would use to compliment a grown man.
  4. Since you're becoming British, maybe the interview is to mess your teeth up?
  5. Nataly, I'm so sorry that this happened. Although you wanted so much to work for them, this may be for the best. If they are so quick to judge you so wrongly, it may have been a dream come true turned into a nightmare, if you had been hired. The feedback was ego bruising rejection for anyone, so take what they said into consideration with a grain of salt. People are not always as honest and forthcoming of the truth as we expect them to be, especially in the work place. Above all, do not allow this to cut at your self-esteem. When you find the right job at the right company, it will not be so emotionally difficult or confusing. When it's right, you will instantly click and know that it's right. Good luck, and cheer up!
  6. Great photos, Bill! Congrats to Lori on her 400th!
  7. Hello there~ We have all been there! This is a very common feeling for newer skydivers, and maybe for skydivers pushing themselves with something new.
  8. This is a response that I gave on a similar thread. Tia, I ALWAYS jump with weights. It keeps me in my mid-range when flying my body. Sure I'm flexible and can manipulate my body, but it's best to fly as fast as possible and strong as possible. If something funnels, it should NEVER be an issue of not being able to stay with the group or get back to them. If this is an issue, then you are probably not flying your body when docked, as much as hanging on for dear life. You should wear enough lead to be able to comfortably dock and muscle through any strain or tension that may occur in a formation. Also, my own jumpsuit is fitted nylon, but it is not "tight". I like to be able to move quickly and arch without constriction, and I can add 4 layers underneath in the winter. Actually, I have NEVER jumped with 30 lbs. of lead on a skydive! I wore 18 lbs. during JFTC. We had a pretty fast bigway fall rate for "girls".
  9. Hello Emily! I don't think that we've met, but I loved reading your post. Congratulations!!! Elsinore has a great group of regulars and staff alike, doesn't it?
  10. Yes, wavy hair + humidity + skydiving do not make a good mix. It's so funny, Andrea. I love your curls. You looks beautiful with wavy hair, and you look great with straight hair, as well. Mine is mostly straight, but ironically, mine looks gorgeous in the humidity because it gets wavy and mermaid-like, so I don't mind it at all. Of course, we often like what we don't have.
  11. The 3 of us are pathetic.... look what we have at home, and we still perv the forum for ass! lmao That is what is the funniest part of these threads! I love that all of you are wanting to see one another's wives' bums, hahaha... Is this what I have to look forward to when/if I get married someday? Hahaha!
  12. I finally saw the March '10 Parachutist, and wow, I'm in there, too. I saw myself in 16 separate formation photos on p. 16, 22, 23, 58, 59 & 61. Congratulations to our amazing camera flyers on those skydives - Terry Weatherford, Karen Lewis, Craig O'Brian & Niklas Daniel!
  13. Hey Douglas, I'd like to see that powerpoint.
  14. Hahahaa, Remi, I ALMOST posted that, after reading Skybastard's response to the original question: I was laughing so hard after reading his post because I kept picturing Shah saying: "It rubs the lotion on the skin, or else it gets the hose, again..."
  15. Shah, it's not good etiquette for you to let her know how to take care of her skin issues, unless she asks, or she is a good friend of yours. It's not polite to try to "fix" someone else, simply because you feel "sorry" for her. If she asks for your help, that's an opportunity to do a good deed. However, if you are forcing your solutions to her skin problem onto her, that is intrusive. As Kris pointed out, she may have allergies or sensitivities to some of these ingredients. Being a female, she most likely felt awkward at receiving such a gift, and perhaps, she didn't want to discuss her skin issues with you. Only she and her dermatologist can make the decision of what skin creams or moisturizers, that she should use. While you probably didn't mean to be insulting, the whole thing sounds just cringe worthy from a woman's perspective. I hope that you just lay low and forget about the whole thing. I do believe that she said "thank you". That is better than most would say, after being embarrassed like this. However, if she asks you for more moisturizer or for information about the skin care line, you can then decide what to do. It was nice that your heart was in the right place, even if the delivery was perhaps ineffective. Remember that it's the good deed that is important, not being recognized for the good deed.
  16. Bill, I'm completely in support of you doing this, since you have a good palate for quality beer. I'm excited to try new kinds. I adore Inferno. That one taste of it in the team room made me a beer believer! I would give you my thoughts, but I know virtually nothing about beer, except that I loved Lost Abbery Inferno. Good luck, and please keep us posted with all of your upcoming brews!
  17. I agree to a certain degree that it may not be as accurate as is being reported. However, I paid less attention to whether or not this man was pulled from rubble 27 days later and paid more attention to the fact that he is just now getting medical attention required after the earthquake. It's amazing that he is alive in his condition. It doesn't matter to me how he has managed to survive without medical help, or when he was rescued. The fact that people are still surviving living under these horrible circumstances is good to hear. Life in the aftermath of a huge earthquake like this is extremely difficult in a country like Haiti.
  18. If a person tries hard enough, they can find fault with anyone or anything. Good deeds are twisted into something negative and incredible stories of survival are seen as an act. There is much beauty and the good in this world, if one chooses to keep his/her eyes open. Perhaps you've had disappointment or pain in the past, but please try not to close yourself off from the best that the world has to offer. To Gawain: That is incredible. I believe that when it's not someone's time to go, it's not their time.
  19. I'm so sorry for your enormous loss. I know firsthand what it's like to lose a best friend of many years to an unexpected accident. My heart goes out to you & his family. May you all eventually find peace.
  20. +1, and yes, I will eventually get one. I could use one to keep my life organized, yet simplified, especially since my eyesight is not the best. As for the rest of the Apple products, many people who work heavily with graphics or who design (apparel design, in my case), have used or use MAC almost exclusively at work and at home, and that includes me. I have to admit, that Apple makes products that I enjoy using. Regarding the original poster's question... I cannot believe that people would care so much about the name. How ridiculous! There are real problems in this world to worry about, and the name of an Apple product is NOT one of them.
  21. Happy birthday, Sunny girl! I miss and love ya, sweetheart!
  22. I love it! It looks fantastic, Nataly! I cut my own hair, but hmm, maybe I should go to a stylist, someday. I'd love to have an even more sexy, sultry hairstyle...
