CHICKS ROCK BOOGIE 2005, SKYDIVE ELSINORE!
VanillaSkyGirl replied to curtismelaniej's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Awesome girl! I think that arriving between 11-midnight is fine. You'll be there before most people pass out... -
Some people find freeclimbing to be a spiritual experience. I have heard that to some who freeclimb, it is about being one with nature and about having total freedom. Their thoughts are that adding rope makes it artificial and somehow takes away a part of that total freedom. (I know climbers who primarily boulder, who feel the same way.) I've never freeclimbed myself (rope is our friend), but I wanted to express other climbers' possible viewpoints. Edited: I meant freesoloed whenever I wrote freeclimbed. Sorry!

The two communities are more alike than you may think. I know several skydivers, who used to go away to climb every weekend. (I used to cllimb, as well.) The two sports require focus, concentration, coordination, strength, perserverance. Both are very social sports. Everyone knows everyone in both of these communities. Also, climbers/jumpers are quite accepting of each other because of their shared bond/love of skydiving or climbing. Also, both groups of people embrace newbies. The experienced in both sports tend to teach/help others to discover their sport because they love it so much and because skydiving/climbing is not something that everyone can relate to. Both sports use a lot of mental focus and visualization. Both sports are also somewhat spiritually giving to a person. It's about the elements (earth/rock and wind/earth) and you. You learn to work with the elements, not to try to conquer them. I think that each of these sports in various ways, compliments the other. Sangiro ~ Congratulations, and thank you for the merge. I much pefer DZ.com over RC.com due to the organized layout, visuals, speed and ease of use. Still, I expect that you will be helping to implement good changes both there and here, if needed. Congrats, again!

I used to climb before I began to skydive. One of my most fun weekends was when I climbed at Joshua Tree on Saturday and jumped all day on Sunday.

I think that there are many reasons why I always loved to climb overhanging climbs. The whole chest issue was one of the reasons, but it was the last of many exciting reasons. (I used to climb a lot before I learned to skydive. Actually, there are more of us who do both, than you may think.) Anyway, about breasts getting in the way of climbing...this may seem like a stereotype, but I did notice that many of the better female climbers were often lean and not incredibly well-endowed. My friend Selena (a great climber & very busty) and myself were the exception. We did both notice that we lost a cup size due to our rigorous climbing. Our breasts/chest muscles became very toned, too, which was cool.

Thank you, my sweet Gia. Also, thank you, Erin.

Congratulations Christina! You've made the best out of a difficult time in you life. You are amazing, girl!

You're a member of the Blue/Black/White crew, aren't you? Yup. I LOVE those colors together!

You are so cute, Shannon! Bring that Hawaiian shirt along with yourself to Chick's Rock at Elsinore. This year there is a Luau theme!

It's not a race, if everyone is flying at the same skill level, the person with the biggest move will be the last in (normally OC, sometimes tail too for random work). don't really mean to get serious here, I think that GQ_jumper was just ribbing Dom with his post.

Your rig is beautiful!

I'd have to agree with you, Lisa, that I don't know anyone else more worthy of being called the Rack (tm), than the lovely Beth. Perhaps only Jeannie can compare, but she already has her title as Amazon.

Good morning, Pre!

Was that pun intended? (OC & Point = piece partners) Yeah, OCs are pretty cool...

How can I kill the neighbors chickens?

Great idea! Sounds like something straight out of a Wallace & Grommit adventure! -
I am a jeans and a soft sweater girl. Lately, I have been wearing a lot of full, girly skirts with my sweaters, instead of pants. It looks so feminine and proper, yet it is so comfortable. I also love wearing dresses. Like Cora, silk, cashmere, or anything that is soft against my skin is also a favorite. My boyfriend likes to see me wearing beach attire without much or any make-up and with the waves in my hair, that I wake up with, when we go to the beach. Like others have mentioned, I also LOVE my Chacos. My beach attire is Chacos, my white bikini, board shorts or sarong (or other pretty, summery skirt) and a tank. My boyfriend looks good wearing nothing...or anything. I love when he wears a t-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops because I know that he is comfortable and being himself. When he does dress up (which is almost never), he looks so handsome, so I love that look, too.

Sorry. I just thought I would make a funny. I made a funny, I made a funny. I know that you know, and you know that I know, that we don't like penises. You two are hilarious!

Is a man pursuing a woman archaic to you guys???
VanillaSkyGirl replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
There are gentlemen out there, who court women, but they are probably not common, nowadays. Personally, I love to be courted/romanced, which is quite different than being "chased". I could only feel apathy or friendship feelings, if a man were to be either not interested or pretended to be uninterested romantically. Still, everyone is different. Men and women should do whatever is ok for them in their relationships. There are no rules for love. Each person's needs and wants are different. The nice thing about finding the right person is finding someone who wants and needs the same things as you. -
Agreed.

This is a bit of a spin-off of the last post about learning blocks. I was wondering what kinds of blocks are recommended to try in the tunnel, since I have not been flying in the sky this year. Also, which blocks are not possible to do in Perris' tunnel due to lack of flying space? Is flying my piece partner's slot (I am usually Point) every so often, a good idea? I did this a couple of times because someone else wanted to fly Point, and I think that it really opened my eyes even more as to exactly how my piece partner and I are working together on the blocked moves, when I flew OC. I've flown the following blocks in the tunnel during 4-way, 6, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 21 (21 was with 3 people...it was a little funny!) I would like to try more. Any more recommendations on flying blocks in the tunnel? Thanks everyone!

I have only 200 jumps (so take my post with a grain of salt), but I agree with everyone else that says that it's best to work on 2-way skill building jumps with an experienced jumper or coach for a while. Personally, I learned the mantis on jump 32. Like GQ_Jumper, I also did almost nothing, but 2-ways for a VERY long time (until jump 109 or so) because I wanted to perfect my flying skills. Transitioning into 4-ways was very natural after that kind-of training, as well as following it up with an Airspeed camp. Zigzag marquis, Block 21, was my first block.

Beautiful is my boyfriend's nickname for me. He also calls me Angel or his "beautiful little girl". My friends now often call me Ro, which is a nickname that Meli (Melstarr) first gave to me.
