  1. Check out page 5. Who are those good looking flyers in that AFF picture ? Why, it's non other than gjhdiver, hookitt, Fireflyr as the student, and Deuce behind the camera. Avaliable for autographs now.....
  2. No, but you obviously do. favaks I'm not making this stuff up. I don't claim authorship. Yes. but while you are not making it up, you're quoting from a text that pretty much is. I'm glad you have your faith, seems to work for you. However, if I never have to listen to another tedious witnessing, it will be too soon. I know all about why you feel it should be done, but for a non believer, it's incredibly patronizing to have to listen to for the umpteenth time, and speaking for myself, I find it just about as compelling to listening to UFO conspiracy buffs. If Jesus existed at all, he was a nice lad who went into his dad's business, then got nailed for running his yap. There's practically no physical evidence that he actually existed other than stories, and those have been so thoroughly amended over 200 years, as to be meaningless as historical evidence of what he might not have done or said. If he did exist, what men have done in his name over the centuries should rightfully disgust him. Basically, your enlightenment is not a license for evangelism on my behalf. You be a happy Christian, I'll be a happy pagan.
  3. The systems in thr UK totally different. If you are eligible to serve on a jury, you just get called to appear, and you're on it. No ifs ands or buts. No stocking the jury, no juror questioning. Takes about 5 minutes to empanel a jury. At least it was when I lived there.
  4. You're not kidding. "You got fucked by WHO ?" "He told you WHAT ?" etc etc.
  5. Refrain from poking Deuce with the stick I reserve for those who make knee-jerk posts on Speakers Corner.
  6. Hmmm. Every time there's something in the news cycles that this adminstration doesn't like, up goes the terror alert. No details, no specifices, just up it goes. Abu Ghraib ? Up it goes. Kerry announces a populist choice for VP ? Up again. Repeat as neccesary until public looks in the other direction. You know, if I was a conservative, I might almost be inclined to a paranoid conspiracy theory, and create a website with lots of aminated gifs of the flag on geocities all about it.
  7. Well, as the bible, particularly the KJV, has been changed repeatedly over the centuries, particularly by Pauline scribes to support the apostolic succession of their favorite pope, it's a little disengenous to suggest that it's an immutable text. Also, quoting Jesus as a reference for corroboration is rather like me asking you to prove the existence of gnomes, and you telling me to ask Santa. The whole, and I mean all, of the ten commandments, can be replaces quite nicely by the Rede. if you follow the Rede, you'll wind up obeying their tenets, and no-one will have to get nailed to anything to do so. It also has the nice side effect of allowing you to live standing on your feet, instead of on your knees in obsequious deference to an imaginary deity.
  8. What's wrong with Jesus' great commandment? Matt 22:37-39 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' (NIV) Hard to go wrong if we'd all do that. There is if you don't belive in magical third parties. I'm not going to waste time appeasing non-existant meta beings. That's why the rede is superior IMHO. It doesn't matter what your beliefs are. It just advises you to take as much pleasure from your life as you can, without causing harm to anyone else. I've yet to see what's wrong with that as a guiding principle.
  9. Extra surface area.. tracking with three legs is more efficient. From what I saw last Sunday, I don't think it's going to give you much of an advantage.
  10. 100%. But then I did actually have to learn this stuff in order to become a citizen. At my interview/test, the INS clerk asked me "who said 'give me liberty or give me death'"? I replied "you just did", at which point my attorney favored me with a "don't fuck about" look, so I dutifully then answered "Patrick Henry" and so was not immediately deported.
  11. High Speed Dirt - Megadeth
  12. There used to be a drop zone there. I jumped at it. It's now moved to Cloverdale. You couldn't actually land there though. The airport would not grant permission for that. You took off there and landed on property about 5 miles from the runways, then got a van back. Petaluma itself is just too busy of a commercial airport to sustain a viable drop zone. I'ver jumped at places that busy that try to do that, and it just is never very succesful in the long run. Tha Bay Area is more than well served with dropzones though. There really isn't any need for more.
  13. The ending should be "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law". It's taken from Aleister Crowley's The Book Of The Law and it's one of the most misused lines ever. . And he was one of the buggers who misused it. Crowley misapropriated it from earlier Wiccan and pagan texts to use it. He used it without the original qualifier, "Be it harm none". The phrase itself goes back before the Ordo Templis Orientis, and has been a staple of the Wiccan and pagan ways for longer.
  14. Dude, what happened to his hair ? Did it get better ? As for your question, 10 years then we both got bored.
  15. Yes I do. But since they aren't joking, they PM me. As with AOL. These are not women. These are 50 year old Everquest players who live in their mother's basement, and only unhook themselves from the gravy IV to go to LOTR conventions.
  16. I don't know. It's certainly sophomoric in many ways, and it suffers from a throw every gag at the wall to see what sticks mentality, but it's still one of my favorite movies ever. In fact at the drop zone, if there's too much figeting going on in the plane, it's not unknown to hear some complain that "you're all dancin' around like some Kansas City faggots" Now there's a line you won't hear in a comdey today. There's a lineage to films like the Naked Gun and American Pie today though I think. I wonder whatever happened to Cleavon Little ?
  17. This is true. Arguing with religious types about about the stone certainties of science versus superstition, is like teaching a pig to sing. It just annoys you, and aggravates the pig. The only time I bother these days, is when they try to entact their particular superstition into public policy. Other than that, they are free to believe what they want. It's no skin off my nose. The poll here suggests that atheism/agnosticism is rapidly increasing, another indication of the social evolution of the species I think. I believe I'll have another drink as they say.
  18. Standard color for household appliances ?
  19. I've got engines.... nadda problemo. It's the bodies I lust after..... Hopefully not ones that have been sat in a creek for a long time. If I know one thing about vehicles, it's that they bodywork tends to object to that amount of moisture on a continued basis The thing might fall in half when he tries to tow it out. I'll come watch it when he tries to move it though.
  20. Will you marry me? That's gorgeous! Kelly See Deuce ? See ? You don't get that with your BMW's me ole matey. And Kelly, though you would be the envy of every woman in CA, and I daresay a few of the men (mainly BMW riders), I must decline your kind offer. You seem much too nice of lady to get sucked into the vortex of cat juggling, U Boat repair, and plastic bucketry that is my home life. Also, my girlfriend would give me a chili enema.
  21. Seeing the posts about bikes and old buses got me curious. Who has the oldest vehicle running here ? Bike or car ? I'll start. My oldest running vehicle is my 1945 Harley Davidson FL Knucklehead. 59 years young.
  22. 2 days. I'll bet you I could have it running in less than 2 days. You might want to check if it has a motor dude.... And if it has, how much of it is left. I saw people try this trick in Z Hills times after time. Always fun watching them throw cash at it for 6 months, only to get oily and broke. You can actually pick up running school buses pretty cheap these days. They have about a million miles on them, but go forever, as long as you don't park them in a creek for 40 odd years
  23. You jump a Vector 3 . You already have enough useless ugly things. Actually, I have a fridge that doesn't work on my back porch. Do you want it ?
  24. I'd buy new socks.
