    I think the FXC Astra, once they updated their software, is one of the most under-rated good skydiving products you'll probably never buy. I'd feel safe jumping one, but unfortunatly there are many other AAD's on the market that are a better value. =========Shaun ==========

    I used those in my apt in Wichita for a summer. I used only those, I kept my apt stupidly hot, I lived in the basement, and I only paid $40 a month for electricity...

    Yeah, I think it's amazing of him to do that, but if that is the case, It would probably be better for the sport as a whole if he invested in a more economical airplane. You know, you really don't need to go to 13.5, most DZ's still just go to 10!

    Are those your only options? AFF is a wonderful, safe way to train, but it isn't the only safe way to learn. Are there any dropzones in your area that offer SL or IAD training... They are traditionally more economical, and frankly every bit as good. =========Shaun ==========

    I think it would be wise to go with a 3erd party. Both Microsoft and Apple are banding together to protect record labels from "piracy" and the latest rounds of garbage coming out make me think that 'piracy' might be defined as copying a CD you purchased into Mp3s for your personal player.     Could it be statistical bias? Think about it; Couples where both the husband and wife help out in the chores would tend to be happier relationships, and I don't know very many unhappy couples that have a healthy sex life.

    About a year ago Glen B wrote an article about how to help our sport grow. I wish I remembered which parachutists it was from, anybody with the reference gets brownie points. Anyways, his ideas to help the sport were pretty insightful. Buy new gear, go to one more boogie, refer one more friend than usual to make a jump, teach a student to pack, et cetera. One of the ideas that has been gnawing away at me is how we get rid of old Parachutists..... Sure, it's nice to have a 3-foot tall pile in your closet, but I'm thinking about trying to get them out. Has anybody... Given one to their friend? Left one in the waiting room of a Doctor's or Dentist's office? Shelved them in the library? Any other good ideas?? =========Shaun ==========

    Yeah, but we make it up with our fair share of high-fives and "Go get em, Tiger." We treat our pilots well, and we have never had a hard time finding good, experienced jump pilots fly for us. Because we are NOT a commercial operation, we have a lot of leeway. =========Shaun ==========

    Man. I consider myself a good republican, but I've learned a long time ago, that if you go too far to either extreme, Republican or Democrate, you'll find a good collection of nutjobs. I've seen this kind of behavior from the left and the right. The Democrats/Republicans can't do anything right at all. If something went well in their term, it was our party that made it happen. Whatever. I think Obama is reaching for moderate republicans (like myself) and this is something Huckabee and Count Clinton just can't do. Good for him. Ah yes. Good logic. His ideas were so mundane and main stream that they even had to name a whole new approach to economic reform after him and force it upon every college student in the country for the last 20 years. Do you know what boiled tomatoes covered in Mayonnaise and topped with chocolate sprinkles tastes like? I don't.     Wow. Generous Dropzone. We pay ours $5 a load, but they are club members. Even if they didn't fly, the would come out and bs with us all day.

    I remember seeing something explaining Gender and their method of choice. It suggested a very strong correlation with males choosing violent means of suicide (Firearms, standing in front of a train) while females preferred more non-violent means, drowning, hanging, overdoese, et cetera. If you ask me, the methods employed by males are easy and sure fire, where as the methods employed by females leave a lot of room for error (or rescue...) I would be willing to bet that this would contribute to your finding =========Shaun ==========

    I was on the phone again today with Harry, the US Distributor. We had another good discussion on the aircraft, and it's use as a jumpship. Basically, think of it as a Cessna. It climbs to 10K in about 20-25 minutes, like a Cessna. It costs about $125 per hour dry to maintain, like a Cessna. It's main complaint is that it's "slow,", but it's not any slower than.... You guessed it, A cessna 182. It goes to 10,000, but since nothing within 8 hours in any direction from here goes to 13,500, this might be a perfect aircraft for Kansas. Yes, it is permitted to land with the door open, but take-offs need to have the door closed. The main issue that some DZO's are running into is insurance. Between $12,000 and $20,000 per year, a few companies are hesitant to insure such a jumpship. As soon as a few more appear in the US market, Harry thinks the problem will resolve itself. =========Shaun ==========
