  1. I'll jump in here since I put Failure for what I am afraid of.... From what I see, there are two types of people who fear failure - Those who fear it because of their fagile ego's and those who fear it for the sake of those around them... The first case I mentioned here is when a person is afraid of failure because it will prove to them that they are human - They know in their hearts that they will not succeed in everything, but they bury their heads in the sand and fear failure because it will force them to be more of a self-actualizer... The other category I have in mind I could have worded much better in this post and my previous posts about this.... What I fear is letting those I love around me down, falling short where those I love have counted on me. "Failure" is a broad and overused term - We all NEED some degree of "failure" in our lives to prompt a change or further our growth in something. It is like a catalyst when we look inside ourselves.. =========Shaun ==========
  2. Oh, I'm Sure If I don't post this, Kansas Skydiver Will - - - I once Shouted out at the Dropzone... "DAMN IT, STRAIGHTEN UP, WOODY!!!!" I'm never going to hear the end of that one.... =========Shaun ==========
  3. Could possibly a couple middle school aged kids with more money than brains - Sounds like a "Prank" that they might be playing - But who knows?? =========Shaun ==========
  4. Yup, Kansas Suffers from stagnant humidity all summer - It has a real way of making you feel less dehydrated than you really are - Just my observations, but in an Arrid Climate, you FEEL more thirsty when you start getting dehydrated.. =========Shaun ==========
  5. Failure - Not being able to get myself where I want to be - Letting others that depend on me and my abilites down.... =========Shaun ==========
  6. Be careful dude, I've known too many people that got themselves into serious trouble letting their bodies get too dehydrated...... =========Shaun ==========
  7. I wouldn't want to be the poor guy who has to take that little bird carcas and figure out a way to get him out of there..... =========Shaun ==========
  8. I was over at Kansas's house and we were watching a video of Swoopers, one after another, run right into the side of the same hill, I said... "This is a fun game called "Run into the Side of the Hill"" Maybe it was the beers everyone there was drinking, but that got a good laugh. One person actually said "Wow Shaun, your jokes usually suck, but that one was pretty funny" =========Shaun ==========
  9. Hmm, I also have a S2 That I am loading about 1.3 - It is rock solid deep into the front risers - Methinks this could be a Wingloading issue....
  10. Well, it doesnt' offend me - Actually, it doesn't bother me at all really - as long as the gasses are coming out of that end of the lady.... =========Shaun ==========
  11. I've thought about this more than a healthy 19 year old guy should have..... Here is my little plans, er, ideas! First off, avoid any type of contact the body may have with any of it's surroundings. It only takes a pair of jeans or a shirt about 10 seconds of being in contact with something before telltale fibers are on the location. Wrap that puppy up good and tight, in a tarp, and fasten a set of chains around the neck area and another set of chains around the legs. Enjoy a nice day of water-skiing, and when you find a nice deep area of the lake, drop the, um, anchor. Lakes here in Kansas are so muddy and silty that a body would be buried before it decomposed enough for peices to decompose off and find a way to incriminate me. Oh yeah, and after I'm done, scrub, vaccuum, polish, and spray everything I own that came within 20 feet of the body. Hmm, I'm feeling kinda morbid and sick right now, I'd better go find something productive to do...
  12. Ask Questions - as many as possible.... Who gives a Rats butt if you annoy whoever, they arn't important - What is important is that you learn as much as humanly possible =========Shaun ==========
  13. Good for the parents!! That kid sound more like he needs a wake-up call! =========Shaun ==========
  14. My first 5 jumps were all exactlly 4 weeks apart, and I went out to the DZ EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND, all weeked. What can I say, Oklahoma Sucks and Nebraska Blows!!! =========Shaun ==========
  15. I'm not Hitched Yet, But I can tell you that my wifes ring will be in the area of $5,000 to $7,000. It's a long story, but becuase of my Grandparents distrust in banks and the loanable funds market, they put their savings into tangable items that would not depreciate in value. When They passed away, all of the grandchildren recieved the Diamonds that we will use for our spouses wedding rings or bands - A lot of sentimental value, much more than the actual value of the stones.... =========Shaun ==========
  16. IMHO, no. Getting a New RW team into the flow of things is going to be your greatest challenge, Don't sweat the petty stuff. =========Shaun ==========
  17. Relationships can, and SHOULD be a learning experience..... To love and to lose, can only mean that next time will yield Improvement!!!
  18. Whether or not you are or are not qualified, having this humble attitude will help make you a more effective coach - One thing I remember from my coach course, is that a Coach rating is "Permission to start learning". IMHO, those who feel that they are very Qualified or have learned most of what there is to learn, need an attitude adjustment - We all can learn something. Your heart is in the rigt Place, my friend... To back up my point, I remember When I had My coach rating for about a month, I was at the DZ working with a student on their 30 Second Delays - A very respected Instructor with Decades of Instructing Experience came up to me and after giving me some of the greatest Advice I've ever Recieved, then Told me that they saw me do something in a manner which they really liked and had never seen before, and now use this little trick on their own students... By no means am I infering that I was ahead of the curve, but as a Coach or Instructor, it is your job to learn as much as you can by watching others, and Even the most Experienced Instructors can learn by watching you - - - This is how it works, and assuming that those more experiened than you retain a degree of humility, can be a very effective way to further our sport..... =========Shaun ==========
  19. Doesn't that first jump off Student Status feel good??? Congrats man!!! =========Shaun ==========
  20. Wow, I really like this advice - I'm not trying to post whore here, but I just wanted to let you know that this one particular post has really given me some insight - Thank you.... =========Shaun ==========
  21. I am a generous person when It comes to other people using my Gear - The only reason I would hesitate to let a friend borrow it for a jump is if I felt that they would not be ready for the size of canopy I have in my container...... If a person is getting ready to Downsize and wants to spend a few jumps with my 150, then I have no problem letting them use it, as long as they respect my property and show consideration - Kinda like returning a friends car with a full tank of gas kinda thing.... =========Shaun ==========
  22. Well, in the last year I have..... - Started Dating the woderful and Beautiful "SpeedyGonzales", the relationship is going VERY well - Taken and done well in courses that have challenged me beyond what I thought I was capible (Even if I did take some of them Twice ) - Become an active member of the American Statistical Association, and become more active in My Department.... - Made somewhere close to 250 Jumps, Achieved the SL-I Rating, and Become the Vice President of our Dropzones Exectutive Board.... - Improved my relationship with my family 100000% - Gained 15 Pounds since going to college, Lost 5 since Summer Began.... - Blue Skies, =========Shaun ==========
  23. I'm sure that there are many more tasteful, respectful, and romantic comments that could be said to a girl to let her know how much you adore her...... I Know, I'm old fashioned, so sue me... =========Shaun ==========
  24. 0:0:0 I took the weekend off and did some other things - I've been jumping my butt off lately, so I took this weekend off from Jumping to recharge my batteries - The last thing I want to do is turn skydiving into something unenjoyable......
