  1. Cheer up. I work in NYC and the skies are pitch black. We're having a huge thunderstorm this afternoon and it's moving east - no jumping after all. Better now?
  2. 12 steps are not enough to help me get over my Target addiction.
  3. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT!!!!!!!!
  4. Someone at my DZ last year had ILV2EFS
  5. ROFLMAO.... This was just wrong. I started thinking about this post in a meeting with a VP this morning and laughed out loud. Had to do some fast talking to explain what was so funny Just say NO to crack!!!!
  6. Hey Ivan, Some of us are taking off on Friday to jump. Since your company "forgot" to pay you, maybe you can "forget" to go to work. Come play in the sky with us. I too am bored seeing the same jump number in your profile. Quote How bout you ALL blow off work tomorrow and come do jump #100 with me at CK :-) If we get a full boatload I'm sure they will fire up one of the big rides Quote Oh that's not fair. I can't take off tomorrow. But congratulations on your soon-to-be 100th jump. I just celebrated mine and I some very important advice: Trust no one. You will be lulled into a false sense of security, then BAM. When you least expect it, a pie will hit you right in the face. If you are serious about avoiding such a situation, then I would advise against making the following announcement, "No one would ever have the balls to pie me!!!" Trust me, there will be many that will be willing to prove you wrong. Have a great jump!
  7. I know...but the weather has been a tad naughty around this area, and my company "forgot" to pay me, , so hopefully this coming weekend I'll be back poluting the air.Quote Hey Ivan, Some of us are taking off on Friday to jump. 8. I will never jump without a helmet. I've banged my head on the door of the plane during exits and I've also had a foot hit me in the head during a 6-way. Lets not mention the bad landing I had last Saturday where my concussion was very minor thanks to my helmet. I use a Bonehead Mindwarp. I hate the way it looks but then again, I look better in a helmet than I do in a coffin.
  9. I bounced off a tree and landed in the swamp surrounding it. Does that count?
  10. My best friend has a daughter, 10 and a son, 8. They are both desperate to skydive and demand to know why they have to wait until they are 18. They are planning to visit me at the DZ this summer and speak to the owner to see if he'll make an exception for them.
  11. ROFLMAO... I stand corrected.
  12. I think the worst song ever dates back to the early days of MTV. Anyone remember this one..... Fish heads, fish heads Roly poly fish heads Fish heads, fish heads Eat them up, yum! Just thinking about it makes me cringe.
  13. I've had thyroid cancer twice and had a total thyroidectomy 13 years ago plus another surgery 4 years ago when it returned. I have no thryoid and take medication everyday. I just celebrated my 100th jump on Saturday. All of my doctors think I'm crazy for wanting to jump out of an airplane but see no reason why I can't. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I will be more than happy to talk to you if you want. Good luck with your surgery.
  14. I recommend replacing Coke with 7-Up or Sprite to make a lemonade with a nice kick to it. I could use one of those now.
  15. How about Connecticut Parachutists right outside of Hartford? It's a really nice dropzone with a Super Otter and a great staff. I would recommend any of their tandem masters. Hope your friend has a great jump.
  16. I agree - Bill should win. He's definitely better suited for the Trump organization though I think Kwame will get a job with Trump too. As for Omarosa, if she's not a mole, then she is one lying, manipulative crazy bitch. I heard last night that she's been offered her own talk show. Unbelievable! My grandmother always said incompetence is rewarded. Guess she was right. Can't wait to see what happens.
  17. Finally! Something interesting and challenging for me to do at work. Thanks.
  18. Yes Joe. I think you should do your 100th jump nude. After all, it's tradition.
  19. Someone at my DZ knows someone in excess of 10,000 jumps with no cutaways. Rare, but I guess it happens.
  20. OH MY GOD! Those are the BEST brownies. Sorry you can't eat them but hey, more for me. I'll be right over.
  21. Recently someone described visiting another DZ like "cheating on a significant other." In a way he's right but it really is nice to go somewhere else once in a while and meet new people. I'll always love my home DZ, the staff is great and I've made some really good friends.
  22. - When I am under a fully opened canopy at 3,000ft and a jumper who announced he/she is pulling at 4,500 feet is whizzing past me in freefall I call that loss of altitude awareness and a mistake. - When I see it happen a second, third and fourth time I consider it a problem. When I hear the same concerns from other skydivers about the same person I consider it a chronic problem. - When there are more AFF graduates than there are rental rigs and I observe a jumper strategically moving gear to places where it can't be easily found I find that inconsiderate. Last summer I frequently observed one jumper making many jumps in a day on rental gear (sometimes back-to-back loads) while others shared gear and got to only make one jump per day. To me, that is a very inconsiderate jumper. In my book, it is exactly this type of behavior and sense of entitlement that led up to the events of the other night. -When I observe a jumper being rude and even abusive to a staff of packers because it is taking too long to pack his/her rig, I find again, that jumper to be inconsiderate. These packers are busy packing chutes for tandems, videographers and other jumpers that were in line first. This selfish behavior was frequently tolerated and just considered a personality quirk. -When a jumper doesn't want to jump his/her new gear (despite the fact that they've already jumped nearly identical gear and the same sized chute many times in the past) because "the risers and toggles are in different places on different parachutes" I feel this is a jumper that perhaps may not have a clue. - When I observe many jumpers stay on the ground to avoid being in the air with a specific jumper, that tells me said jumper is not safe. Lets compound that with jumpers who will no longer jump at the DZ because of a specific jumper. This is a clear indication that there is a jumper who is not conscientious. -When I am told about a jumper that needs to be held back in the plane because he/she is not giving any separation between exits, I can't help but feel concerned. Especially when this jumper has opened frighteningly close to me on more than one occasion without ever realizing it. -Shall I go on? I'm glad this jumper was not hurt in any way. I was the first out to look for this individual and can't even describe the terror I felt when this jumper could not immediately be found. - Throughout this thread there have been many posts from very experienced skydivers who have all said the same things. Many have been around this jumper for a year. Perhaps there is truth in what is being said. Perhaps this jumper should pay attention. From what I understand, the equipment was recovered and there is no evidence of a bag lock. Hey, we all make mistakes. Lord knows, I've made my fair share. What concerns me, is this jumper's constant and complete lack of awareness. Skydiving is a risk, but lets keep it to a minimum. I am in no way attacking this person. I have no vendetta. I'm merely stating my observations and my experiences. If anything has been done to damage this jumper's reputation, it has been the work of that jumper. I'm done with this thread. If this jumper wishes to discuss this further, please feel free to PM me or speak to me in person.
  23. The dummest thing I ever did was panic. I kind of sucked under canopy in the beginning but somehow did well enough to graduate AFF. My first jump off student status and I was playing around under canopy and realized I was just a little too far from the landing area. Started back and at around 300ft saw a barbed wire fence and started to really panic that I wouldn't make it over. Instead of getting on rear risers I made a very sharp right turn into the Xmas tree farm by the DZ. I was now flying downwind and trying to fly straight to avoid the tree line and surrounding swamp area. Somehow started turning left at about 15 feet and flew right into the trees and bounced off of one. I got myself out of the harness and the chute was up in the trees with the harness hanging. I was standing in the swamp are covered in mud. Several trucks got stuck in the mud and and an instructor got drenched. The equipment was eventually retrieved and I took a canopy class. If I hadn't panicked I would have realized that I could have made it over the fence and safely landed on the edge of the DZ. Did I mention this all happened on Safety Day?
  24. Oops. Didn't mean it to sound that way - Sorry. Your post was just the one in front of me at the time and I happened to reply to yours. My bad.
