  1. CF2 is a rather new event. I hope there will be a US Nationals 2005 and/or World-Cup 2005 DVD with a lot of CF2 footage. BTW. seems that you have a goal ;-) 10 points is the german record in CF2 and only two US teams out of 10 reached 10 points or more at the nationals. Bye Stefan
  2. Busts were a topic on the 2005 german nationals in CF2. The judges interpretation of the rules was "you must SEE the upper body above the topskin of the bottom canopy and the feet of the top jumper in the A-lines of the bottom canopy". Most of the cameramen were to close to the formation and when you could clearly the feet in the A-lines the upper body of the top jumper was out of screen or hidden by the canopy of the bottom jumper. It seems that the problem was increased when the cameraman used a wide angle lens. When the first busts were given, some cameramen decided to give a sh*t on nice CF2 video and stayed further behind the formation like in CF4 (gives narrower angle). Others tried to anticipate the formations and popped up/down behind the formation like jojos (same angle). See some discussion (sorry, german) and a video still with bust on: http://www.canopy-formation.de/info/24a6bc96b21248b05.htm I think, the CF2 cameramen should do some training jumps with the team and the team should check their training tapes with CF-judges in advance. Bye Stefan
  3. My CF2 team has Lightnings with 1.3 wingload and i use the same. This gives similar openings and similar descent characteristics. But i'm not that expert ;-) Stefan
  4. Jimmy, sorry that i didn't include the link to the story ("When to Stop Flying with a Camera"). http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=604453;#604453 You gave me valuable hints in that former thread and these helped me eventually to rethink my procedures and to start skydiving (and camera) again. Stefan
  5. Paul, do you know whether there will be a (some?) compilation DVD(s)? Thanks Stefan
  6. I had a reserve bridle/helmet entanglement once due to unstable deployment of the reserve (posted 8/2003 at DZ.com). The force was very uncomfortable. Fortunately my helmet had a cutaway system. Stefan
  7. Wonderful video - excellent video work and nice editing. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Is the stepup ring made of metal? Yes, then try to heat the ring a little bit. Then it will expand and release. You can use use a metal plate with 70-80°C (still touchable) and press the stepup ring on this plate until it is warm. When the ring is loose, remove it fast and cool the lens thread with a cold metal plate. Instead of heat you can use WD40 oil too. WD40 will creep between ring thread and lens thread eventually. But do not spray a large amount of WD40 in the parts!!! Use a small syringe with needle and apply very small drops. Wait some hours and reapply... wait... reapply...). The oil reduces friction in the thread. If nothing helps... Perhaps you can cut the ring with a Dremel tool and replace the ring with a new one. Good luck! Stefan

  11. I visited Teuge several times for the famous CF Spectacle. Each time the visit was a pleasure. There were friendly LOs and coaches, nice people, professional staff and pilots with a Grand Caravan and additional aircraft C206 or Caravan when nessessary. I selected free camping, but i could have a bunkhouse style room too. Good food and drinks (Heineken) was available in the skydiver pub "De Wolk". Hey i even could wash my clothes before departure there. OK, the weather in Netherlands sometimes suck, but these people are very good in spotting the next blue hole in the sky! CU 2006 again! Stefan
  12. But the list doesn't work, when people don't have a clue what is the real purpose of the list. Fortunately, veter_ asked and i hope he'll understand.
  13. Wow, that situation is what I'm concerned about... How bad is your vision? I have -6.5 on both eyes, so landing without contacts would be... interesting. BHDT -6 on both eyes and lost one lens during a night 4 RW jump.
  14. Soft lenses - don't know. I have hard lenses and could use them even when i forgot to wet them over night...
  15. Never found such a feature. But you can define your favorite transition as default transition and insert this default transition with keyboard shortcut...

  17. I saw a FF video from a HC32E (E=European PAL model). Recording mode was program AE SPORT. There was a fast flicker bright/dark in some scenes esp. with bright background (jumper vs. sky shots). Does anyone know this problem?

    Avignon/Pujaut

We did a CRW training week there... Pujaut has a huge airfield for skydivers and gliders within an area of wine plants. Landing out is difficult, but this is only a concern for us CRW dogs. Glad the pilot dropped us well each time. They have two Pilatus Porters and keep them flying for you - hey we got even a 4 people in the plane sunset load! You can connect easily with other jumpers. Very good facilities - 11 rooms to rent with 3 beds each for low money. Many showers and even a pool. Big packing hall with big video screen. Services - very friendly and capable rigger (we CRW dogs love this!) with a small shop and a keep-it-running french manifest. Check-In without hassle, but AAD is mandantory (whole france?). You need temporal membership when you make more than 40 jumps/stay or year. Nice scenery. You see Avignon with its castle (approx. 10 km away) and the Rhone from above. And many small wine farms everywhere. So you can guess what do to when you hit a rainy day :-)
  19. Do you shop for freefallvideo? Then check the forums for people with experience with the PC1000 3CCD camera. Some newer Sony 3CCD cameras had serious trouble with image shaking in freefall which makes the 3CCD cameras useless for freefallvideo - unfortunately because they produce very nice video pictures...
  20. Lesson costs are 2 bucks for each skydiver permanently visible on his videos and 5 bucks for those who are not ;-)
  21. Stomping in dog shit gives you the right to say "I've been there dude, and it ain't pretty" this is the experience that facinates me. Judging by what other people have written, it does appear that stomping in dog shit puts you into that "elite" stomping in dog shit club. Yes, after this fascinating experience you can brag about the size and smell of your special dog shit with other dog shit stompers too. Important: Avoid unhappy dog shit stompers who regret this fascinating experience. Why would they tell you their stories, if is isn't worth the experience?

  23. Sony DCR-TRV110E - about 500 jumps. Died when i was outside the airplane and waiting for the team and we got in a very wet cloud. Power PCB is down and you get no spare parts from Sony to repair it at home. Major or user related. Sony DCR-VX1000E - about 300 jumps. Died after impact from 800m. Instabile reserve activation gave entanglement between helmet/camera and freebag bridle. Camera lost fight and was ripped of the helmet. Total and user related. Stefan
