A GREAT American.

I'm quite sure and, like I said before, I could give a rat's ass. I just mentioned Europe because I think they're collectively jealous. Other areas of the world hate us for religious reasons and our ties with Israel. Again....rat's ass.

Shows you how bad I am....I didn't even notice the first time. It's that A.D.D. kicking in.

Just let it blow over.

I really like this quote. Nice!

I agree. I am yet again wasting more heartbeats that I'll never get back responding to this shi'ite.

In the US we are prohibited by FERPA from even telling the parents what a kid's grades are if the kid is over 18 - it is a federal felony to reveal the information. Many parents aren't aware of this until the kid is finally kicked out 'cos the kids lie about their grades. Well then....I guess that will be the parent's "wake up call" when their 18 year old gets sent home. You're supposed to have some form of maturity by that age and are accountable for your own action. I think we're primarily talking about "children" in this thread. Someone below the legal age of consent.

It will never be good enough...will it? There's always something to discredit. Hey, I didn't sign off on the President's Report on the Economy 2003. GWB signed off on it. Not my fault if he either (a) lies, or (b) is incompetent. Do you give all politicians a pass on their broken promises, or just conservative ones? Oh.....Kallend.....I'm just going to continue to smile all the way to election day.

I know my mind is made up. By the way, I didn't start this thread. No offense taken.

I.E. "JELOUSY"

I think it's the school's responsibility to offer alternatives in the lunch line. Maybe offering a diet for the more over or underweight kids to address the problem. It's not their job to do the job of the parents, though. However much they may need to in some situations. We can't, as a society, take over the job of the parents. If we do, parents will continually get more and more dependent and will continue to get worse and worse at doing their jobs. Doing the work for them is not a solution. It's a bandaid fix for a problem that will only get worse.

The same could be said about the French.

As far as Europe goes, I think jealousy has a lot to do with it and, personally, I could give a rat's ass what they think.

I say that's not the school's job. It's the parent's job. This is a very bad idea. Humiliation is not what the kids need.

I personally try and look to Christian principals first before defaulting to what a particular church says. I do trust my church because I agree with their doctrine and believe the sincerity of its staff, however, I think the Bible is the basis and final authority on all subjects in question whatever church or denomination you might belong to. We are fortunate enough to have an all volunteer force. If someone has some sort of “hang-up” with the government or military, they aren’t required to serve. I’d suggest figuring that out ahead of time and not signing on the dotted line. I agree with the following and it explains far better than I could. It also addresses, at the end, the situation of someone who is forced into military service and may not agree with the intentions of the government or military leaders. http://www.carm.org/questions/war.htm

I do have respect for basic human life. In that sense, I am troubled to see civilians injured or killed during conflict. I also have respect for the enemy's resourcefulness and ability to potentially kill me. In another sense, however, I have absolutely NO respect for an enemy with no honor. One that readily uses women and children as shields. One that uses places or worship as staging areas for attacks. One that decapitates civilians in a way no more humane than if you were to saw the head off a fish. I feel absolutely no sorrow for those Iraqi/insurgent soldiers who lost their lives. NONE!

Let me start off by clarifying that I “personally” have never had to shoot and kill anyone. The times that I came close, I was able to not have to because I used careful discriminating judgment and intimidation. Most of the raids that I’ve been on, due to surprise and violence of action, the enemy never responded with fire. Those that did resist got beat down but didn’t die. I’ve only been shot at once and that was a case of mistaken identity on an allied faction soldier’s part. I don’t want to appear to have more credibility than some here who have been in more serious circumstances. I was not a Christian for the majority of my service. The nature of my job in the military (I’m out now, by the way) requires constantly thinking “outside the box.” It sometimes requires you to consider options that may not always jive with Christian or what some would consider honorable ways of thinking. So, yes, sometimes it clashes and it does affect my actions. It may even personally limit me more than others in some aspects. I personally believe in the cause in Iraq. I personally see it clearly as an “us vs. them” situation in reference to the Iraqis and insurgents fighting against us as well as the same in Afghanistan and elsewhere. Do I feel remorse and pity for the loss of human life in any situation, whether they be enemy or not? Yes, it bothers me. Do I feel justified in the taking of that life for the cause of this war? Yes, I feel justified. A Biblical reference for this might be the life of King David. War is a very ugly but sometimes necessary thing. I also define success when you can accomplish your goal without killing anyone. However, I try very hard not to second guess someone in those situations because every situation is different and no one can really tell exactly what happened except for the guys on the ground (or in the air; whichever the case may be).
