On another note, one thing that sticks out in my mind, was the EMS response. On the earlier low turn injury of that day (way down at the end of the runway) I'm pretty sure that I saw a paramedic when they got out and took him to the hospital. I can't remember exactly who came out of the ambulances for the fatality, but I remember being shocked. I was asking for intubation equipment and was stared at blankly, and had to eventually search it myself. There was NO positive control of the scene taken by the EMS personel, and it still remained "slightly" chaotic until we were enroute. I'm not trying to belittle the response, but hopefully we can take this as a training tool for the department. The scene was a mess, but that's what EMS is trained to deal with. Positive scene control and appropriate medical intervention at that time. It seemed most people were content to sit and keep working instead of getting loaded and getting enroute to more definitive medical treatment. Just thoughts and suggestions from my memory, 4.5 months out.....I don't remember it all with total clarity. 1) Take this as a training tool to the departments 2) If we are going to have crews stationed at the event, we need ALS crews since as we all know, when injuries happen in this sport they are either very minor or very bad, and not too much inbetween. I hope to see this event back next year. I've been twice now and hope to make it back again. If I have spoken incorrectly in my observations please, by all means someone correct me

Not a sorry chance in hell. Tehy get paid minimum wage or maybe better. The waiters are paid I think about 1/2 of minimum wage because tipping is factored in. Do I tip well in restaurants? depends on how much the bill was, how demanding we were, and their overall attitude. A charming waiter/tress can help overcome shitty food timing by the kitchen or whatnot. Make my evening enjoyable and I'll try to do the same at check time. Tipping the people already making a full paycheck? Not a chance. I don't get extra for doing my job...why should they?

I agree with andrea. I didn't have any run-ins other than when I tried to go see if my altimeter was still out in the landing area after we got back from the hospital. They still had the area roped off and didn't hassle me about wanting to look for it, but wouldn't tell me if they had found it either. By the way, thanks for those that gathered our gear back up out there. It was greatly appreciated.
