pre-booking for the Red Hot Chili Peppers Hyde Park gig...
caz replied to caz's topic in The Bonfire
they don't really enforce that kind of checking though - I went to Glastonbury last year and they made a big fuss about not selling your tickets on but half the people I know who went had bought them from Ebay and none of them were asked any questions at all. They just send out the tickets quite late to try and stop you selling them on. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~ -

if you can get me any cheaper tickets I'll sell the ones I've already got on Ebay nearer the time and give you a cut of the profits ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~ -

yeah, saw them 2 years ago here and they were fantastic. They always sell out over here within a day or two though esp for the London gig, the tickets are very hard to get hold of. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~ -

just a little query to anyone who's replied to this thread - how many of you work in IT? Weebl and Bob from my experience have a huge techie following, something about the sense of humour I think. Caz - DBA ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

you get to sit and wait outside Victoria? If you get on my train you're lucky. I get the fabulous South Eastern Trains also but we get proper electric doors rather than the slam door ones. I usually go via Victoria if I haven't got any food at home, so yes I will be getting the train from there tonight as yet again my cupboards are bare. oh and I usually manage to steal a colleagues copy of the metro as I don't usually go by train in the morning. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~
-
Nope, I wasn't looking out for any skydivers! I was probably absorbed in my copy of the Metro while waiting for my train, which was delayed surprise surprise. you get quite a lot of people wandering around Victoria station looking lost and trying to find people so you don't pay too much attention. I've only actually ever seen one person in London that was also wearing a closing pin, and that was on the tube last year sometime. Led to a surreal nodding at each other and muttering of 'blue skies' much to the bewilderment of our fellow commuters. I'm sure they thought we were in some kind of weird cult! ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~
-
I was at Victoria Station at pretty much exactly that time, my train was at 19.05 from there. Were you wearing a closing pin? If so I guess I should paid more attention to the people around me, you never know when you might bump into a fellow jumper. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

I don't think anyone is necessarily being negative about jumping in the UK, its just that purplekitten asked about alternatives to jumping here as she wants to get AFF done preferably before March. I don't know about where you are, but its been drizzling here pretty much non stop the last week or so, and British weather being British weather its probably unlikely to change much the next month or so unless we're extremely lucky. So to save months of hanging around the dropzone trying to get qualified and waiting weeks in between each AFF jump, I think people were just offering up places that they've done AFF abroad where the weather is likely to be slightly better than here. We're not saying its better doing it abroad, just an alternative.
