the more the merrier!

there will be two drinks sessions this week, one tomorrow (Tuesday 26th) and one on Thursday. Both in the same place as normal, the Montagu Pyke on Charing Cross Road. Sarah (Vampiregirl) has managed to reserve a section for us in the pub, so for anyone looking at coming along who doesn't know anyone, we will be in the little sectioned off area to the right of the main bar, if you ask at the bar I'm sure they'll point us out as well. They have said they will play videos we bring in (skydiving related!) but don't have a dvd player, so bring some stuff along! See you then hopefully, Caz ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

I'm a klutz, what can I say! you can't take me anywhere! ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

I was about 17 at the time, walked into a local large chemists store and as I went through the door I tripped. And instead of just falling in a heap and getting it over and done with I thought no, I can recover this, so went into a run with the plan that if I picked up enough speed I could get my legs back under my body and stop myself from falling over. Well that didn't quite go to plan, and I ended up running and picking up speed down the entire aisle of the shop before I ran out of runway and collided with a makeup counter at the end and fell backwards in a heap covered in bits of makeup. My friend who I was with and loads of shop assistants came rushing over thinking I'd broken something, but no, I was fine, so I just picked myself up, brushed all the mess of lipsticks etc off myself and calmly walked out the shop. Needless to say I've never been back in that shop since, and hide my face everytime I have to go past the door, and that was 8 years ago! The fun they must have got from the security camera I can only imagine! ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

As this thread has neared the top of the bonfire again, now is a good a time as any to mention that the next London skydivers meet is next Thursday, the 23rd September after work in the Montagu Pyke on Charing Cross Road, Leicester Square. Its been a great turn out the last couple of times so come along and join us, don't be shy!

why yes it is I meant the 23rd September. Please excuse me, I'm a tad hungover today!

you guys need to get yourself down south, the weathers been nice here the last 2 weekends!

I've heard a lot of tandems say they couldn't breathe in freefall but put it down to the fact that a lot of tandems look down as soon as they exit the plane, thereby restricting their airway and limiting the amount of air they can take in. And then that topped with the ground rush and 120 winds causes them to panic and make it seem to them like they can't breathe. Not heard anyone say they felt like they were choking though. Whereas most of us who learnt to skydive are told to keep our heads up to get our body position right and because we have other things on our mind about what we're supposed to be doing on that particular learing jump, we don't even think about it. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

including all my jumps, I've got 83 flat jumps and 1 attempted sit which was less that successful but quite a lot of fun!

I know I know, but I have to visit a grandparent in Hull that weekend, and wouldn't you know its only about 20 miles away from Hib! ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

I will probably be in the area for the August bank holiday weekend - anyone know if there is going to be anything going on there? And is anyone willing to befriend and possibly jump with a southerner that doesn't know anyone else there? Purlease?
