I have been to Pepperell about 5 times this past summer and Paul was one of the first people I met there. I didn't get to know him really well but from what I knew of him (about 10 jumps together and going out for beers afterwards) he was truly a great guy. He is also the first person who I've actually known personally who has passed away in this sport so this hit me pretty hard as well - I still have his number in my phone and his email address on my contacts list. I wish that I could make it up to MA on Tuesday or Wednesday for his wake/funeral, but working 7 hours away in NY makes that difficult. My condolences to his friends and family and all those who knew him. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

Watch out if you go to the wind tunnel - it's addictive!! If you do decide to go to the tunnel you should also consider going to either Sebastian or DeLand and get the SkyDiveU training there as well. Between the two of them you can't go wrong. Keep an eye out for RW skills camps and tunnel camps too. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

I have jumped pullouts a few times and never had a problem, but the main reason I don't (won't) jump them is just because I'm used to throw outs. It's what I was trained on, I feel comfortable with it and most of all - I know it works. I see no need to change something that is generally considered to be safe. I don't know anyone who will not jump a rig if it has a throw out on it. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

Video on the net of 418 ft swoop??????
NeedToJump replied to BluDvn222's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I heard that at the meet that Shannon got 418 that JC got something around 407 but missed the entry gate so it didn't count. I also was told that none of the super long swoops looked like anything spectacular, just a swoop that happened to set the distance record. I wasn't there and I could easily be wrong though. No disrespect meant to any of the swoopers, just posting what I was told... Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com -

Slut, Did he ever figure out if the baglock was because of the d-bag? Since you see the guys from XL a lot do you know if they have had any problems with the bag or do they seem to like it? Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

http://www.compal.be/LazybagEN.html I found some discussion about how this may or may not be a good thing, but does anyone have any actual experience with one of these? It seems to me like this is a great idea and I would be very interested in trying one out. Any thoughts? Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

When did you go to an elliptical canopy?
NeedToJump replied to superstu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I flew an elliptical as a demo at about 150 jumps (loaded at 1.0) and bought my first elliptical at around 200 jumps (loaded at 1.3) Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com -
My standard pack job is about 9-10 minutes on my Stiletto 135. If I rush I can do it in 5-6 (still with a nice, on heading opening) but I prefer to take my time and make sure I don't miss anything. I have somewhere around 500 pack jobs. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

Congratulations! Hopefully I'll be making my first wingsuit jump fairly soon and then the muff diving shouldn't be too far off... Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

toilet/tv toss weekend in Tullahoma
NeedToJump replied to GroundZero's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I hope there's some video of that toilet... Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com -
Can't really tell from the picture but it looks like you may have your legs bent in a little and leaning forward a little causing a backslide but that you are compensating by having your arms back, hard to tell though. But either way I agree with everyone else, it just takes time and jumps. To work on getting a stable fall rate ask one of your friends who has a solid sit (and a video camera ) to just lay a base for you and you try to just fly on level the whole time. As long as you're having fun you're doing it right

Thanks for posting the video up for all of us who don't get Washington news. It's nice to see some good, positive coverage of swooping on TV and not just what you see on Fox's "World's Worst" etc. etc.... Nice swoops! Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

Clicky: http://www.friflaj.com Also Denise, if you're down in Sebastian I think its FreeFly Team Alchemy that's down there. They are amazing freefliers and give some great coaching. Check out the freefly tunnel camps too or just 1 on 1 tunnel coaching. Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've decided to get the Sony PC 101, I'll find another way to save some money for more jumps, maybe cut back on beer or something... Thanks! Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com

OK so I've been reading through the posts about only getting Sony cameras, but are any of you guys out there familiar with Canon cameras? I'm looking to start doing video and my friend can get Canon cameras at wholesale and tax free so I've been looking into them. It seems like the Canon Optura 200MC (http://www.canondv.com/optura200mc/index.html) is pretty close in size and features to the Sony PC cameras, although I'd probably have to make my own dbox. What do you guys think - is the Canon going to be OK or should I just shell out the $$$ and go with Sony? I love to know if anyone has experience with this Canon, how their cameras and service, etc. are. Thanks! Wind Tunnel and Skydiving Coach http://www.ariperelman.com
