Well, I am certainly no expert here, but which malfunctions are you referring to here?
Line twists mainly. Think about it though, your canopy is collapsed. If you give yourself bad enough line twists it will be hard to reinflate while twisted up. Obviously this has more to do with stalling in a hard toggle turn but still could concievably happen with an uneven flared stall. Case in point: I was at about 1,200 feet, bleeding off some altitude before I entered my pattern, with about 35 jumps. I had heard all these times that try anything above 1,000 feet and youre alright. I tried to stall my canopy with my toggles. Twisted up very tightly, probably about 5 twists. The right side of the canopy was deflated and I was losing altitude pretty quick. I kicked out (in retrospect I should of chopped) and as I kicked out of the last couple twists I was violently shook around as the canopy reinflated. I was then at about 900 feet. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

someone explained it to me that a carve is exactly the same thing as an orbit but when youre trying to do it on purpose. So I guess if you find yourself orbiting around the base just get down from the jump and ask them how they liked your carve. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

still you shouldnt mix most OTC drugs. But you do have to be up a "supply" of acet. for it to be fatal. Or you have to take a crap load of it. But thatd be like an entire bottle and I dont think you're a sixteen year old angst ridden suicidal chick from the 80s... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
Is it tradition to be wearing your rig while being pied?
That'd be a lame tradition if it was! They waited for me til the end of the day when the beer light was on. Much more fun that way. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I started using double front risers on final approach with less than 10 jumps. You just have to be careful. Granted I was jumping at a .6:1 WL. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Count me in, why not! What could possibly go wrong!!! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

try to let the toggles back up slowly so the canopy doesnt whip around upon inflating, you can give yourself a couple of malfunctions if you just slam the toggles back up into full flight. But otherwise have at it. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
It doesn't take 8 days to get the results of a piss test either!
thats true, cops have field tests that take less than 30 seconds to get results. At least for the six major things they field test for. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

looks pretty dangerous/easy to fuck up. You're basically doing just one long prolonged swoop over the course of a mountain. I think its one of those things you'd be better off not doing unless you had advice from someone who is experienced at it, in person. I dare say the internet might exacerbate your problems. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I've had good luck with spray paint. With actual paint it can be applied and look "globby". Spray paint you can whaft the can back and forth and get a nice even layering. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
If you really want to speed it up, ask PD for a smaller slider.
I'd recomend just asking PD what to do about the canopy instead of asking for a smaller slider. In some cases a smaller slider can actually slow down the opening further due to the slider reefing the canopy more drastically while sniveling. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

i've finally convinced myself to start snowboarding, however the only people I know that snowboard are about a 10 hours drive away from me. What would be the best way to get into it? Should I buy new or used gear? (Im on a budget) Should I try to get a lesson from someone or should I just go out on my own? I've never skiied or snowboarded but have always wanted to snowboard (although everyone tells me it is slightly harder than learning to ski). Thanks! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

doh! Maybe they should update their online manual/charts then! Thanks for the heads up. So is it pretty universally agreed upon that pin rigs are ideal for low freefalls? If BR changed their opinion was this bc of some introduction equipment wise or was it just a simple opinion change, you think? Still definitely looking for a velcro rig for my first container cause they just look so damn easy to close and not have to worry about tension on closing loop, etc. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
-
hello, I was under the impression that pin closed rigs were much better for short low stuff, in that they can be set up with not so much tension on the closing loop and therefore extract rather quickly. Looking over BR's PC/delay/gear config chart they seem to suggest the opposite, saying pin rigs only demonstrate "fair performance" from 200-500 ft jumps while velcro rigs have "good performance". What's the deal? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
