Well just a side comment. America certainly has problems, we aren't perfect by ANY standard.....but perhaps the world would have been a better place if say Russia was the "only" super power. Kind of the "who died and made you God" feeling that many in the world seem to have about America. The truth is that doesn't matter, only time will change it - maybe the French will become the big dog. But until that time it is what it is. just thought.....not a fight Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Scotty Carbone is a parking lot NAZI!

It's always sad when the great ones go down..... Picture the following. After a great day of 16 ways at wonderful Cedertown several of us had drifted out to the parking lot to have a few cold ones. Out comes the party man himself-Scotty Carbone. Image our surprise when he scolds us for drinking in the parking lot. If it wasn't so sad it would have been funny. We thought about it, and wonder how the old Scotty would have handled this situation. Took a vote, and beat his sorry ass. We were going to kill him and would have but we like his wife and we need the food he cooks. Later that night we figured it out. Tammi has been abusing Scotty and he is having a mental break down. The more we thought about it the more we realized that was a good thing. So here's to Scotty may he patrol the parking lot carefully every evening. The world will never be the same-it's the end of an area. Fortson Rumble Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

How long should it take to post an incident report

Just wondering what the thoughts are. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
My check has been cashed so looking like there may be some movement. I've never ordered a boogie video but "normally" do the produces cash the checks before they start shipping. Just wondering Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Start you own business! Greatest thing/worst thing you'll ever do - sort of like having kids. When things are great you'll feel like you've had something to do with it, when there bad you'll feel the same. You do loss the right to blame everything on management, and if you try and blame everything on your employees you'll be out of business fast, but your in charge and nornally the last to be laid off! Good luck. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

How do you avoid collisions with hook turners?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Safety and Training
["you guys have bigger canopies so please dont hang over the main landing area". I have a tiny canopy....the way I figure it is that if you have a small canopy and cant deal with traffic...you shouldnt be jumping that canopy. This amazes me...[That's one of the reasons I started this thread. The idea that people who have a small canopy have some different "rights" than larger canopy pilots. But having said that - you don't really want F-16's flying in the same pattern as C-152's.] Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Who knows......my e-mails are going unanswered but he did post (about three weeks ago) that he had finally gotten 10 orders and was starting production. - also that he w/b cashing the checks. SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT P.S.- I wouldn't get the 120 video if I was on the 300 way video either Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

re: beer line. Alrighty, on most DZs how close is the beer line to obsticles? Okay a test.... I give, on average how far is it? Now, who (generally speaking) flys "boats?" Generally speaking students, or older jumpers who value older legs, knees ect. Now, what are the distance requirements for those licenses and are they "legal" to actually land next to the beer line at most DZs? Dang part two of the test guess I'll have to get my D lic. now. All joking aside, I "think" your saying that (in general) that big canopies mean low timers and that is like saying a small canopy means high skill level. Neither is true. Besides what is a "big canopy"? 1:1? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

"The biggest problem I see are people who think they HAVE to hook EVERY jump. That in conjunction with how some folks fly their boats (s-turns on final, spiralling down to be the first one down and hosing everyone else's final, etc)." I like you point about "boats" and believe that just being nice would go a long way. BUT do you start loading the plane by canopy size. The one thing that makes me want to go postal is to hear "Do you know what size canopy I'm flying?" Frankly I don't give a dang. If I below you I have the right away - period. I'll agree that S-turning in to the primary landing area (or the beer line) is in bad taste but just because someone wants to hook it doesn't mean I have to land out. Having said that - that's what I do - land out and hoof it back in.

How do you avoid collisions with hook turners?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Safety and Training
"It takes a lot of skill and practice to perform hook turns, and those that choose to do it are usually as safety oriented, and many of them MORE safety oriented than the average jumper. " I'm not sure about the above statement. I believe that people that have been swooping for a longer period of time generally are very careful but you do see a lot of beginners who are "learning" to hook that lack the judgement and skill to achieve the desired results. From a pure numbers point of view and NOT to put ANYONE down. The sheer number of low time hook turners that get hurt shows that the person did not have the judgement/skill to be doing the manuver. If they lack the the above skill would that be an indication that they might not be as careful of others airspace as one might like? Just my thoughts. How do you avoid collisions with hook turners?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Safety and Training
While we have no answers yet in the accident at SDC I believe that the above poll might shed some light on how the non hooking skydivers attempt to avoid collisions with more aggressive canopy pilots. Let me say that "most" hook turners are careful and considerate of others. Normally when I've seen a close call it's been from a low time hook turner. For myself, I land father out and walk it in, but it seems that close calls due to hooking are not serious offenses at most dz's. I wonder if this is because of the "supposed" skill level of the hooker. i.e. "well he/she has lot's of jumps so it was okay, nobody got hurt" I'll close by saying that I am NOT against hook turns, but the attitude of: 1. I MUST swoop in front and as absolutely as close to the beer line as possible. 2. The above plus "I have a little parachute and I'm going to come down faster than you so stay out of my way" Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Must be something in the water.........I've been jumping for 6 years and just got a rw suit with REAL booties (Merlin) man they are great, but in track I had a slight right to left thing going on. By the 5th jump it was gone, but proved to me that there is a BIG difference in what the size of the booties do. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
