What happen to Packing Cathy @ z-hills?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was told by someone that the packing tent was torn down, "that it was an ugly situation" we didn't get to finish the conversation so I don't know if someone tore down the tent, or what. I don't think having another kid would have stop her, but in any event I hope things work out for her. Once years ago I jumped for several days, then a rain shower came up as I was putting my stuff in the car and I drove off without paying. A couple hundred miles later I realized what I did. When I called she laughed, and told me to mail her the money. Now she knew me, but she didn't HAVE to be a nice as she was. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
What happen to Packing Cathy @ z-hills?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey is it true that Packing Cathy is gone from z-hills? I've got to say that I used her or her packers for years and was really happy with them. She was one of the reasons I went to z-hills, I felt that my pack job was being looked after and that she gave a crap. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Name of Casino hotel near Perris
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Heading out to Perris 64 ways in Dec. Does anyone have the name and maybe the phone number of the Casino hotel near there? I understand the rates are lower than the listed hotels on the Perris web page. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
I'm going to the Perris 64 ways in Dec and wondered if anyone knew the name and phone number for the hotel at the Casino just down the road. At the Pop's event some stayed there and said it was nice enough and a good deal cheaper. Anybody wants a ride I'll land at 11:00 am Dec 18th in ONT. (Thursday) and leave Monday at 8:50 Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

While at the Perris Pop's last week my cypress batt. died. In the course of a normal day I wouldn't have stop to replace them but thought better of it cause of the number of people. Took my rig to Eddie who agreed to replace the batt. and repack the reserve.Open opening he found the cypress was due it's four year inspect. It was in date two weeks earlier when it was closed - so that's legal. The batt. would not have made it to the next repack - by dates. Not to mention that I had cycled the cyprees one time since the repack. My question is, does the rigger have a responsibility to check the voltage at repack? Do the batt. have to make the date for the next repack? Before you flame, I take responsibility for checking I should not have relied on the rigger - lesson learned. Thanks for your input. I'm going for the fourth year, and this year we are going to get it! It will close a great year for me with around 45 one hundred plus ways (z-hills/Texas/Pop's) YAHOO Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

"it makes me wonder if they are relying on the device to do more than it can do." Nope, just increasing the odds when we can, as we see fit. But don't worry, I often wonder why other skydivers who think that my having a cypress means that I am device dependant are in denial about the reality of skydiving and what THEY can do. It all boils down to everyone wants to land close to the hanger/beer line/people ect, ect. As long as we all fly the pattern use our head it works. My only problem are the (for the most part) new swoopers who: a) down wind b) cross pattern HP pilots have no "right" to cut people off to land close to the beer line, nor do slower pilots have the "right" to S turn all over the place. Set up for final stay on heading. I just walk a litttle father and let everybody else fight over the beer line Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

USPA Member ??? READ THIS !!!

Still don't ge the reason why we can't just drop the demo insurance. Demo teams could form a corporation to limit the exposure they have. If you have to have insurance to do the demo than the "customer" has to pay the cost. Why are the two tied together? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Are there "New" Big way organizers?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I love doing and going to big ways. I'll be the first to say I don't know the long term history of big ways having only started doing them (+100) three years ago. But it -seems- that there are more people organizing them now. Guy Wright, Boxman, Rob Laidlow. Sure you've got Kate Cooper and Roger Pounce along with many other established names doing them but for the most part they seem to have there group in there on part of the country. From you old timers: Is the number of good big way organizers going up or does it stay about the same? It seems that big ways are "In" right now. Be safe Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Naaaa. They had us all stand up while the folks from Texas sat. Must have been 20 that were from out of state - course that leaves 105 from Texas. Never mind Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Post TSA or USPA letters to help carry on your rig
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey, I've been following the threads about carrying on rigs. I've been trying to find any "letters" or documentation that might help get through TSA. If you have any would you please post them, or where they are. Thanks Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
No. What's the difference in "agents" and "staffers"? A fresh approach could work. History seems to showing that most of the established politicians aren't getting the job done. It does say something that he has been able to manage his affairs and grow his business from the ground up. Davis didn't create this problem all by himself, it will take a different person to fix it. These are the worst calls..... I have no knowledge of Patrick but when you read some of the threads and thoughts of police officers here - then this. It makes me wonder. Police officers, and teachers deserve respect and (for the most part) a big raise. my thoughts are with his family Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Okay I'm new here but I followed the thread about abortion and made one post. In the end it did seem to be two people beating up on each other. But - and forgive me - but why do we have this seperate place for "women"? (I read the "why" I just don't get it) And if it is really suppose to be just for women (which I have no trouble with) why are men allowed to post at all? The main problem with a men's only forum w/b that all the men would never leave the womens forum to go there

Who's Going to the Texas State record?
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey trying to find out who here is going to the TSR 120 ways and if anyone had an idea which hotel w/b the most fun to stay at thanks Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Something I've never thought a lot about, but after reading some post about "worn out pilot chutes" I got to wondering. I have aprrox. 1,000 jumps on my current p.c. beyond the few threads around the outside it "looks" okay - normal wear and tear. Thanks Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

"What does that test?" (sorry I haven't figured out the quote thing) I thought that to be able to hold the cut away cables with finger preasure, while somebody pulled on the cut away handle was a good indication that it was binding. All the pulls were with someone in the rig, and we all took turns pulling from out side to. The cables had been lubed but by what I don't know Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

This weekend we attempted to cut away a G4 Mirage for repack. The pull was very hard, I believe to be unpullable under canopy. This was a new rig. The owner had not cut the rig away when they recieved it. As a test we held the cut away cables with two fingers and where able to "hold" the cables fairly easily. We could find no kinks in the cables or the hard housings. We looked but did not find any dirt or grit that might have bound the cable. The rig is with a rigger now who'll do a better incepection than I can. The above is just for limited information. I curently own and jump a Mirage every weekend and love it. Jims right, This is one case where the USPA should be getting something DONE. The decision to allow or not allow a sport parachute should not be left in the hands of each screener, at each airport. If they must be checked than a "standard" for inspection should be written. The TSA employee I spoke with was very typical. Quote the rule (or non-rule). She did offer that if my rig was damaged I could file a claim. When I told her that getting killed due to someone "checking" my rig would really ruin my trip she just sat there. USAP what are you doing for us?? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
-
Just hung up after waiting 17 minutes to talk to someone at TSA. Bottem line (from this person) was that sport parachutes aren't approaved or disapproved. It's up to the screener at the departure airport as to if you can check or carry on your sport parachute. Once you check it, if it's damaged you can file a claim but they have the right to do whatever they want to "check" the rig. My local airport (Tallahasse Fla) says "nope" no carry on. Three others say "okay" jeez I just want to skydive Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

+1,400 jumps. Four mals. One around 500 that I packed. The rest were paid pack jobs. Most of the time I pack for myself now. But who knows maybe I'm just lucky :-) Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
