First blush my thought was "well he's a dickhead, and he BETTER be a BIG dickhead if he pulled my r.h. but after some time I came to a different but decision. 1. If my rigger couldn't get to my re-pack, I'd pencil pack it in a heart beat but I'd take it back to that rigger and have it done. Rigger keeps the re-pack I don't miss the boogie (or whatever) 2. Legal issue, I'm not a rigger so educate me here. When someone goes in what "happens" to the rigger. If the reserve wasn't used is it taken apart? Is the rigger called in by the FAA? If someone pen packed there reserve how does that effect the rigger when the rigger can prove that they didn't pack it? I think a great poll question would be: If you had a long term customer who you told you couldn't get to the rig before the weekend boogie, and they pen packed the rig what would you do? Replying in general: I just don't fillow this "just charge cost" thing. I'Ve never read that the WFFC was a non-profit event. If you've ever put on even a small local boogie you have an idea of the work that goes into it. The market - people that go to boogies - will with Don - the organizer of the boogie - determine the fate of the boogie. I have seen many long term business that can't be sold go out of business on there terms. Simple put they raise there prices as high as they can for as long as they can, reaping the higher profits. In the end it's like "buying yourself when no one else wants to" It will be interesting to see what changes are made that were suggested by the customers. If you really want to understand the direction of WFFC look at that. Having said that, I went to the convention four years in a row and then skipped four years. I'm seriously thinking of going this year. Is it cheap. No. But for around three jump tickets I can party with a lot of friends and make new friends, for as many days as I want. Jump plenty of good planes. I don't care if the manufactures show up or not. On the other hand I might got to L.P. First I love z-hills. It was the "first" big dz I ever went to. My "first" completed +100 way. Just a great place to go to. But The boogie or politics or whatever about the airplanes is getting bad. Raise the lift tickets if needed have a registration fee but run the planes. Not sure what the deal was with the third Otter while I was there (Monday-Tuesday) it was suppose to be down for maintence. The word was that they don't fly the third until loads are backed up "x" amount. But who knows if that is true. The other word was there was only two pilots.
