It really is simple: Cut Spending Close loop holes Raise taxes These that think you can "tax the rich" and fix the problem are FOOLS. We aren't spending a little over our budget we are KILLING it. The middle class is what runs this country. Period. No it isn't...no matter how hard you want to say it, think it, want it...it just isn't a fact. Google, educate yourself...read the numbers. Don't fall for 30 second commercials. Approx 1.5% of the population makes +$250,000 a year. They already pay the highest rate, raise them up another 10%....it just won't pay off what we are spending. It's spending, and closing loop holes, and getting the bottom 2/3 to pay more (or some) AND raising taxes on the top 1/3. In that order. NOT the top 2%. Maybe a better question to all this, Bill is who believes that taxes RAISED would go to lower the deficit? You have expressed your belief that the problem can only be solved by raising taxes and cutting spending. Other than yourself and a few others in this forum these of us that seem to at the top of the tax rates are equally sure that the current administration wants much more spending for social programs. If history is any indicator any new revenues raised by taxes will get spilt between new (or old) social programs and the deficit and THAT’s where we have a emotionally violate reaction Whereas many here have bought into the class warfare that "the rich should pay more" they forget or just don't seem to get that they do already. Looks to me that aggresive braking and going right could have saved the day but truth is we don't have a clue to the skill of this rider. Man, taken a face value (meaning as truthful which I have no reason to believe that Amazon isn't always truthful) I find that amazing. Kallend has numerous times mention his successful business. There are TWO very much in favor of raising taxes people that have run "successful" business. I've never understood why people that have such successful business sell them - or close them - and go back to work for someone else...but I know that both of them had there on reasons..... The real issue is TRUST When your going broke you should cut your expenses and get a second job... or CUT SPENDING and RAISE TAXES But most higher income earners have zero faith that if they raise taxes - to help pay off the debt - that the gov won't spend more. Truth is you can make a class warefare "Only raise the taxes on people who make $250,000 per year...." but unless you raise these taxes REALLY high you still aren't going to bring in enough to fix the problem and at some point you will kill the drive to work.
