Incorrect. What do you think the more well to do person in your example would do with that $6425? Mysteriously spend it out of the country simply to avoid the tax? Get real. He or she is going to be spending it on goods and services - most of which will be...you guessed it - TAXED. The Fair Tax is a superb idea. I'm in favor of a flat tax in conjunction with a national retail sales tax (exempting gas and groceries) myself, but like the Fair Tax much better than our Marx/Engels-esque progressive[sic] tax system. Neither they nor their parents want to return, Meyer, you fucking NEA tool. They left for a reason. If Mr. Meyer actually cared about the kids, he would want them in the best educational environs possible. Private school vs. failing public school - pretty much a no brainer. I'm sure the parents of those kids REALLY appreciate what Mr. Meyer has done for them on behalf of the NEA, NAACP, and LWV. 1) I'm not sure. How many died under FDR and Truman? How many innocent people died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? 2) Surely a nuclear power and biodiesel proponent such as yourself would never forget that the Department of Energy was spawned under President Carter's administration. This is not an Anvil endorsement of DHS, by the way, which I do not like. I do like DoE - good idea JimmyC, but poor execution. 3) It's a President's job to lead. Hmmm...stating that Carter received the same prize as then Terrorist in Chief Arafat is not a comparison of the two - it's a statement of fact. Jimmy Carter is a far, far, far, far, far, far, far better man than Arafat...as is Bubba Clinton, Harry Reid, Madame Clintonista, and pretty much everybody else in American politics - even TeddyK and Bobby Byrd. Call it a paraphrase then, but the gist is accurate. The chairman's remarks alone with regards to the Nobel Peace Prize should have been enough to deter the man from accepting it. But then again, who gives a damn about a prize awarded to a scumbag like Arafat (yes, I'm very glad he's dead). Jimmy Carter was one of the worst presidents in American history. I'd agree that he's a compassionate man, but as a President and an administrator he pretty much set the modern day standard in the incompetence department. "The country is in a malaise and I don't know what to do about it." One of the great quotes of the 20th Century. Carter's post-Presidential work with Habitat for Humanity has been most admirable. His endorsement of the Venezuelan elections, however, show how little credibility he really has. Even Happy Gilmore would have known they were rigged. His acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize - when the committee admitted that their contempt of the current President was one reason Carter received the award - was utterly despicable. With regards to Christianity and the death penalty - read up a bit on Aquinas' comments on that. He presents three objections and overcomes them all in Summa Theologica. Excellent reading.

It's basically where you use many different computers to solve many different parts of a total problem. You download the software and it runs on your system when when you are not using it - kind of like a screen saver would. It then uploads the results from your computer and gives your computer another section of data to crunch. There's probably a far more technical explanation, but that's the basic gist of it.

That Seti one for a while, then I did this protien folding one that I thought was a bit more useful for society. My WinTel laptop still does the protien folding one, but my Mac doesn't do one. Apparently there are a couple that support Macs now too.

The discovery of the new Mersenne Prime piqued my interest in this stuff once again. I've participated in a couple of these before - still am actually - and just wanted to see what else was out there. Quite interesting. Great work some of these organizations are doing. I concur with Quade here, Tim (as I damned well should; he's got many more jumps than I). I think he nails it when he says to continue to apply toggle pressure all the way through after touchdown. Make some practice flares in the air. Practice flat turns and keep your hands off of those front risers below 2000 feet for a couple hundred jumps. Great canopy you've got there - I love mine.
