Think that if it makes you feel better. I've read your points and choose not to change my stance at all. Colorado will be a much nicer place to live when that law goes into effect. Healthier as well. Since you never answered, I'll ask again: are farmers bending their lives around you by not using DDT? and what's the difference between a person lighting up a cigarette on the beach and someone spraying DDT into the air on the beach? If the voters of the state of Colorado have a problem with the new law, they can pressure their legislators to change it. I doubt that will occur - it never would have passed had constituents been strongly against it. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -
Thanks! Very interesting.

Another good article from Fox on this...this fellow could have read this thread for some source data... Clicky

Colorado - about to be a much nicer place to live

Quite a good one, actually. Murder, theft, arson, rape, assault - all cause physical harm to the victim and all are prohibited by law. Second hand smoke causes physical harm to the victim who inhales it, and a law will soon remove it from bars in CO. The only difference is the harm is not as serious - immediately at any rate. It's an excellent analogy, actually - it just doesn't comport with your views. Are farmers bending their lives around you by not using DDT and instead using more expensive insecticides? Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! -

Cool. Figured they would be exempted. I support that. -

Correct. Nor do smokers have to smoke in bars...and pretty soon in CO, they won't be. -

I knew I'd read about WW I mustard gas still being dangerous or seen it on TV somewhere! Thanks!

I'm heavily in favor of it. Some people are wackos who enjoy murdering, stealing, and the like. Laws prevent them from doing things - legally, at any rate. If somebody wants to inhale second hand smoke in the confines of their own home - be my guest. If they want to produce them in public where others who actually care about their health would be exposed involuntarily, then I have a problem with it. I was reading on the beach today for a short while and some fucktard decided to light up a cancer stick upwind of me. What right does that asshole have to expose me to carcinogens? He's not just harming himself - he's harming me; and pissing me off. 'If you don't like it, go somewhere else, Vinny.' is bullshit. If I stand on the beach spraying DDT into the air, should other beachgoers leave if they don't like it? The answer is no, neither I nor anyone else should put others at risk by releasing carcinogens into the air unnecessarily. Those who would do things that hazard the health of others should do them privately where they don't harm anyone other than themselves. Actually, the logic goes something like this: second hand smoke is harmful to the health of those who inhale it involuntarily, so we'll make watering holes safer for all patrons by eliminating it. If smoking were bad for the smoker alone, and bothered nobody else, then such bans wouldn't be going into effect. That's not the case. It is bad for those who do NOT smoke as well and very offensive to many of us - especially within the confines of a restaurant or bar. If you support the right of a smoker to pollute my lungs by engaging in a habit they enjoy in a public environment, then would you support the right of a someone to spray DDT into the air in a public environment as well? Both are carcinogenic. Who knows - sprayiing DDT into the air might be an enjoyable habit to some people - just like puffing on a cancer-stick is to others. I don't think so. A 20 year decay time for that seems a bit low to me in a container such as a gas-tight warhead for either sarin or mustard gas. I'm not a ChemE and have no desire to become one, but would be interested in seeing what the times actually are. Er...that's not what I was looking for. I was wondering if the mustard gas could still be lethal. I would suspect the munitions wouldn't function exactly as designed, but that leaves a lot of avenues open in itself. The way I read the articles about sarin is that the sarin could not have survived in a form capable of being lethal. Mustard gas, on the other hand, I haven't read anything about. These articles seem to be saying the same thing paraphrased differently - probably all using the Negroponte memo and Santorum press release/conference as their source and doing no further research on their own. For some odd reason I seem to remember French farmers finding mustard-gas contaminated munitions to this day from WW I. Must have seen it on the history channel or something. I believe we both helped aim and provided Iraqi weapons in the latter years of the Iran-Iraq war. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

That's sarin gas the AP article speaks about. If memory serves it was both mustard and sarin gas munitions that were found in Iraq according to the Negorponte memo. Any data on the mustard gas being inert? I haven't read the article you're quoting. Given the fact that Saddam Hussein was supplied with chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq war (and used them) it's no great shocker that the Iraqi munitions discovered would be from that era. I rarely listen to Rush or read his columns, though I enjoy his stuff when I happen to do so. Let me know if he writes such a letter.

I think your $300 billion figure is a bit low. Where did you get it, out of curiosity?
-
You've data that shows the chemical agents in the WMD's discovered had degraded to the point that they were no longer lethal? Odd I didn't read that in Mr. Negroponte's letter to Senator Santorum. Could you please post a link?
-
One wonders which report you're reading. The report faxed to Senator Santorum from Mr. Negroponte says that terrorists would love to acquire such munitions. Odd that you do not consider this a threat. I consider any WMD's unaccounted for extremely dangerous - especially in a region of the world rife with insurgents and somewhat easily accessible to Iran. There's no need to worry about Saddam's imaginary WMDs - real ones have been found. Repeatedly. Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

I love tuna. I like the herbed garlic flavored tuna packs that Starkist sells. Quite yummy.
