There's a lot of truth to this. The GAO report to which he refers is quite an interesting read - I've got it on my hard drive at work, actually. They're talking about R&D contracts, the vast majority of which tend to be cost-plus-award-fee or incentive-fee type contracts.

I read this. Interesting. I think in a couple of recent issues of THE ECONOMIST they've had articles on how the state owned petroleum companies have a lock on the majority of the world's oil resources. I think the privatization of such firms would go a long way towards meeting the world's increasing energy demands in a more economic manner. -

I have mine and enjoyed it immensely. I think if you work for a bit and come back for the degree, you're a lot more mature person and get more out of it. Coming back initially was a mathematical proctological exam of sorts (I'm an engineer), but it really was interesting to study again. I'm really glad I did it and got a ton out of it. ...shaped like a pistol? Well, neither had I...until yesterday. A friend at Zhills - Xenaswampjumper - brought me a bottle of tequila shaped like a pistol! And, as luck would have it, it was DAMNED smooth tequila too! Hijos de Villa I think it was called. The bottle is in my car...I should go check, but would rather sip some tequila and post whore prior to sleeping. Anyway, Unfortunately, it was so smooth that a JACKASS drank it all early in the evening, so nobody else can have some, but nonetheless, the bottle and the gesture was WAY cool. I did share a bit at Zhills. Tequila is a blessing and everyone should partake. I just tend to partake a bit more than most. Tonite, back in Jax Beach, I make do with Patron... My new tequila bottle kicks ass! The next time I get drunk and go Christmas carolling, I'm going to take the pistol with me to impress my neighbors!
