It is extremely wrong and inappropriate for a professor at any level of the education spectrum to be spouting such rhetoric in a classroom environment. But we conservatives have come to expect such behavior from left-wingers in our nations institutions of higher learning. The cruelty of the situation lies in his continuing to do so when he found out it disturbed one of his students. Apparently the professor's hatred of GWB and his desire to express it to students in order to further his own political philosophy far outweighed his concern for the feelings of others. Though I'd agree with you that an analysis of the US rise to its current world status along Gibbon-esque lines is quite interesting, here your comparison of the current US position in Iraq with that of Rome and the UK of years past really isn't apropos. We're not colonizing Iraq nor are we making it part of an American empire as a subservient state. We're rebuilding it and turning it back over to its indiginous people so they may determine their own destiny as a sovereign nation.

I would vote yes, though I actually have never partaken of the drug myself. I really think it's a state issue. Compared with alcohol, marijuana in many respects is quite benign.
