  1. You don't have to lose a friend. You can pay the money you lost to learn a lesson. Keep your friend but never involve money with him/her again. You never know, maybe someday they will realize what they have done and repay you. I don't know how much money you lost, is it worth your friendship?
  2. And you jump down anyones throat for just mentioning gun control. I didn't see anywhere where he stated 'guns ... shouldn't be owned by the general populace'. What is wrong with proper registration of firearms? What is wrong with a 4 day wait period before you can actually purchase a firearm? Will it stop firearm related crime? Abosutely NOT. Will it help reduce the amount of firearms in the street? No. Maybe it will in the future. Maybe 50 years from now after having all new firearms registered and tracked there will be fewer guns on the streets. Maybe 50 years from now all guns on the street will be 50 years old. I don't have the answers. I think it lies somwhere in the middle between gun banning and a gun free for all. What if you had to registered all new guns that you purchased? What if you had to re-register them annually to prove you still had them under your control? Would that be the end of the world? How would that affect your 'right to bear arms?'. Do you honestly feel that there is a great government consipracy brewing and you'll have black helecopters flying over with ATF agents repelling down? I don't have any problem with responsible people owning firearms. If you are repsonsible enough to own one you are probably responsible enough to own a thousand. I do have a problem with conficted felons owning firearms. Will gun control stop criminals from owning guns? Of course not, I don't think anyone is crazy enough to think it will. It will make it harder. Over time it may have a effect Owning a gun is like owning a car. You need to register a car, why not a gun? Shooting a gun is like driving a car. Both can kill, you need a license to drive, why not to shoot? Do we still have 14 year old driving around illegally, yes, but that doesn't mean auto registration and drivers licenses are bad thing/invasion of our freedom. Of course, the consitiution doesn't state 'right to drive'.
  3. My ex-wife. She would call me in the middle of day while I was at work and ask me to come home. When I told her I couldn't come home she said I didn't love her if I wouldn't drop everything to be with her. I can't believe I wasted 7 years of my life with that bee-otch I'm in a MUCH better place now
  4. You can still respect someone and not give them any money buy purchasing their music.
  5. I blame the media for printing a headline that can be interpretted by immature people as a sexual act. What the hell, the guy was in corn country eating an ear of corn. Oh, my god, the humanity! Hehe, he said 'eat it raw' heheheheheheh yeah... hehe 'eat it raw'
  6. How about this.. Leave taxes alone (precent wise). Take 50% of all tax and apply it to the Government budget. Allow the tax payer to pick where the remaining 50% is allocated (Education, Health Care, SS, DoD, DoE ...). Make the departments run on a budget of 50% and use any extra from tax payer allocations to fund future projects (like a new aircraft carrier, or new books for schools). I would love to see a big check box on my 1040 so I could send my $$ where I felt it would have the most impact.
  7. I fully agree but I don't think you'll see things changing. The 'square' army is going to be forced to become a 'round' army. Lets face it, The U.S. military for good or ill is the 'world police force' and that isn't going to be changing any time soon. There will always be 'bad guys' and said 'bad guys' are no longer countries which we can have large scale wars with. Close combat, security, and law enforcement is the name of the new game and the U.S. military is going to adapt to it. Maybe that is why they are still developing smaller weapons with shorter ranges.
  8. The U.S Military is doing more and more law enforcement jobs these days. Tactical error? Should the new infantrymans primary weapon requirements change to reflect their new job role (the world police force)?
  9. Well obviously it was dumb, it was said with a bit of tongue in cheek. I do firmly believe that the cops should be give more power to handle a situation. Chasing someone with an illegal firearm (unlicensed, stolen, etc.) only to later arrest, slap on wrist and release is a joke. I'm not talking 1st time offenders. I'm talking your standard, inner city kid with gang ties carrying weapons. And before you ask 'How is the cop to know it isn't a 1st time offense' Just ask any beat cop, they know who their 'regulars' are. I'm not a hunter so I truly don't know. From my vantage point, hunting is a sport involving skill. Isn't it much more skillful to use a bolt-action, single shot rifle? Do hunters regularly need to pop off 10 rounds to hit ONE deer? Or, do I have it completely wrong? Is 'hunting' more about drinking beer in the woods with some buds while you generate 'shotgun fade' on transformers and fiber cables? Where did I say I trust them to regulate every facet of my life? I must of missed that part.
  10. I'll try to find a local news source, no shots were fired I think. The kid was caught and arrested. Our small, bankrupt city is having a couple shootings per week so the news didn't make the front page. Maybe is wasn't full-auto, that is what I heard on the radio the following day. Media was probably wrong. I still think it is rediculus for a anyone to be running down the street with ANY rifle. There is no need for it. Transporting to/from car when hunting/target practice is fine. In a case, un-loaded.
  11. Don't be silly, ALL toy guns have the nice easy to identify orange tip on them. Duh! I wonder when the criminals will start dipping their guns into orange paint?
  12. Anyone else find it odd that the 'More info' link for the new US weapon is a RUSSIAN website? Not that .ru is our enemy any more (or ever really was...) just an observation.
  13. I can see where having mental health services AVAILABLE for new mothers is a 'Good Thing' [tm]. I don't think it should be REQUIRED or MANDATORY and enforced by the government. Hell, people get killed with guns! should put a law in to ban them?.... Oh, wait... never mind
  14. About a week ago the cops were chaing a KID (teenager) down the street in front of my office. The kid was carrying a fully loaded, fully automatic AK-47! I'm all for the 2nd amendment but this is ridiculus. I say, forget the gun control laws, Let the cops shoot first and ask questions later when they see some idiot running down the street with an assault rifle. I don't think gun control laws will actually work. I think we should have something so when they are broken we can arrest/shoot the people (aka criminals) breaking the law. I'm all for hunters running around the woods blasting any furry animal that moves. It isn't something that I would do but I still think it is ok. I don't think a hunter needs a semi-auto, high power, combat/assault style rifle to hunt rabbits, but what do I know? Hell, it would be kinda fun to go rambo on a paper target at shooting range. I also think that the Government is just like organized religion which is fully of hipocrocy. It isn't democrates verse republican, they are all two faced policticians
  15. Guns don't kill people.... PEOPLE kill people....

    Hanggliding

I went hangliding in New Zealand a couple years ago. At the time I had about just got my A license (25 jumps or so). It was truly amazing, I really felt like a hawk, just flying around on the thermals. We ended up getting about 1000' above our launch point and swooped the van and others waiting. I felt like I could be up there all day. The freakiest thing was just running at top speed towards and off the edge of a cliff. I told the tandem hanglide instructor that I was a skydiver and it looked like he relaxed, knowing I wouldn't freak out on him. Think of all the things you love about canopy flight, only better. I highly recommend everyone do a tandem hangglide sometime in their life.
