Hopefully you can find some "coaches" at you DZ that will go with you either free or for the cost of a ticket + someitmes packjob. Depends on the DZ, but at mine I had no problems and spent money on one coach jump for my A license. Barter works well too for a good amount of non-skygod skydivers (beer, food, booze, places to crash, etc). Edit: This is after you get on student solo status. Before that look to spend $1000 and up to get to that point. Skydiving is a lifestyle change, like anything of its caliber it will own you and your money. When researching DZ's for your course, look into how safe their equipment looks (cypress etc), how nice the staff is, how much coach jumps are, gear rental once on student solo status, cost of courses, experiance of staff, etc. You'll be spending a lot of time and money at this place so make sure they fit your bill. Also rememeber, taking a week or two off and going out of state (far distance) might be cheaper in the long run when u figure all the cost involved. These people you are hiring to keep you safe, make sure you get a good vibe from them. Best of luck.... HYPOXIC

Held April 29th until May 2nd in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, the Rocky Point Boogie is approaching. Three hours south of Skydive Arizona, this boogie is located right on the Sea of Cortez. I went last year and had the time of my life. As one could guess, the party scene is amazing and the views were spectacular. I jump with lenses and it really sucks. Out here in arizona my eyes tend to get really dry. At break off from a FF jump, if I trans to Headdown->Track I tend to get a lot of wind into my googles... (huge acceleration change). Most of the time only one pops out, but sometimes I have had both... You can imagine that really sucks ... I'm blind as a bat.... I got better googles, but everyonce in a while it still happens. Prescription googles are probably the best bet.... Moral.. keep your eyes moist and your googles tight HYPOXIC

I want to get peoples opinion on what to do if you have two out side by side. I know there two philosophies on this and I would like to finally come to a consensus for myself. Before the tragic events at coolidge this weekend, I had planned, if altitude permits, force a downplane and then chop the main. Obviously, now I'm re-thinking this philosophy. Would flying them all the way to the ground and pray not for a downplane be a better solution. I know this is sort of a gray area, but I would like to hear peoples experiances and such. I currently have a slightly bigger reserve(180) then main (170). Can someone give me some insight. Thanks HYPOXIC

Last weekend I had the fortunate opportunity of sitting with Marc and watching one of his "best of” tapes. One of the most enjoyable moments was of him sitting in Mike’s Kingair just before a jump. His smile was his typical Marc grin that all who knew him will not forget. Sitting behind Andy he was grooming his dreadlocks much like an ape would. Finding “bugs” everyonce in awhile, he placed them in his mouth and even shared some with fellow passengers. That is the type of humor one could expect out of Marc. Many of a weekend I would stand out side the hanger and watch those gorgeous Coolidge sunsets with him and the Coolidge crew. Listening to him, I was always impressed by his ever-present off the wall commentary. Even though I have known Marc only for a short period of time; I will be reminded of his smile every time I see those sunsets. As this weekend ended, I saw the most spectacular sunset I have ever seen in Coolidge. As the desert sun fell behind a puffy white cloud, brilliant rays screamed out of behind it. With the sun continuing to fall, the cloud turned a myriad of colors as it painted the sky in its orange, pink and purple flare. Looking up I could 'see' Marc smiling as he flew on what must be the best sunset load ever! I'll miss you man... HYPOXIC
