I have not. I will be researching that today though. Thank you for the info (seriously). As far as legal expenses, it may come in handy to have a couple lawyers that the hubby taught to skydive in the contacts list. .

OPSEC violated. Initiate protective measures.

Pretty much. Buying in bulk saves trips to the grocery store and I hate grocery shopping!

I'd call the sheriff's department and tell them what happened. Same as I would if I had to shoot a rabid skunk. If I have to go to jail, well, I'm a white middle aged female, I'm sure I would be out in no time and be treated well until the courts decide it was justified. Since we live with a 15 to 30 minute potential LE response time and I was in fear for my life, no worries about it not being justified. If the shit has truly hit the fan and LE can't help, we have shovels and 5 acres to dig holes in. Where we live, no one would see us doing so, and if they did they'd likely come help. Guns aren't always there because the owner expects to kill a person with them. I have them to be sure I can eliminate dangerous wildlife that could appear on the property at any time, and because they are a blast to shoot. The ability to defend myself and our property from dangerous humans is only a side benefit.

So the 30 rolls we had when the panic buying started (we keep one or two 32 packs on hand all the time and have for the past two years) and the two 32 packs we have purchased over the past six months since it reappeared on shelves (one in June and another last month) means I am a ridiculous clown for purchasing 64 rolls of toilet paper since March. Well okay then. Your post has opened my eyes to what I didnt know. Where can I find the lists of items we are allowed to purchase more than one package of every few months without being a ridiculous clown? Am I a bad person for buying two cases of tomato sauce at the same time? We have a case and a half of bottled water and plan to buy another real soon; is that hurting anyone else's chances of buying some? I'm pretty hopeful that the extra two cans of coconut milk I bought last month is okay, but now I'm just not sure.

Indeed. I certainly wasn't thinking about prepping for societal collapse in 2015.

Hmmm... cheaper than the Ruger too. Damn you. There goes my new sewing machine...

That's a part of our plan too. Most of our neighbors are pretty self-reliant but we come together for things like finding a lost dog and creating/keeping stocked an open to all food pantry to take care of those not able to work right now (our chickens have been happy to contribute ) . I expect the same would happen in any SHTF situation.

Love my AR (I call it my pirate gun... arrrrr). But for a long term no factory ammo available mid range option, a PC9 9mm is hard to beat. Same rounds as our Glocks means one caliber to reload instead of two, and it's a great choice for taking out critters. Or two legged intruders. Although I will pull out the pirate if that damned gopher pops his head up in front of me.

Stop by and pick me up. Got a nice collection of good scotch and some excellent cabernet from the winery down the road to offer and I promise I won't fart in the aircraft

I'd call a generator an essential, not a luxury. There are solar generators out there so fuel wouldn't be an issue. We still need to get battery backup for the solar. Hopefully we don't need it this year. But even with that, there could still be a need for additional power options. Two is one, one is none.

Its gonna get nasty regardless of who wins. Too much anger and hate from either side. Makes me even happier to live far from an urban/suburban blot on the landscape.

I think we have a couple of those meals in the backpacking stuff. Instead of stocking up on those, we have a pantry filled with long shelf life "regular" foods (rice, canned food, etc) and two freezers full of meat and frozen veggies. Less expensive and a greater variety of meal choices than backpacking type dehydrated meals. We can survive off the pantry alone for at least a month should the freezers fail. Dehydrated meals have been kind of hard to find this year, especially the large quantity prepper buckets.

Sitting here babysitting the generator. Everyone around us is also in the dark. Public safety power shutdown is what they call it. I'm cool with it, much rather be in the dark for a few days than have a fire in the area. Friends lost their house in one of the big fires, another friend spent a week evacuated before they learned their house was still standing. Both had to get out in the wee hours of the morning, as fast as possible. We have our evac plan and have drilled getting the fuck out of here fast (15 minutes or less). Still damned scary; I'll be on edge until the rains start. The first PSPS, we were not ready. We had only been here for a couple months. It was 5 days without power in 90 degree heat. I was not a happy camper. By year 2, we had a generator and these power shutdowns are much less of a PITA. With all the fires, power shutoffs, COVID, right/left wing extremists and anticipation of November 4, I have become a prepper. We have at least 2 months food on hand (and 60 rolls of tp because people are stupid). We have appropriate tools to defend the property (and the ability, training and knowledge to use them properly). We are continuously working on our defensible space (for wildfires, not tactical fortifications). We have (safely stored) fuel on hand for the generator. Still need to up the booze backstock; my cannabis backstock is about 3 weeks away from harvest (California legal, helps reduce seizure activity). I have a 3 month supply of my prescription seizure meds (without which I will carpe every diem). We are prepped to not leave the property for at least two months should SHTF. Getting all Boy Scout has significantly reduced my stress levels this year. Am I being paranoid? Maybe. But judging by how 2020 has unfolded, would it surprise anyone if December brings a zombie apocalypse? Seriously though. Are you ready for the rest of 2020? What are your plans should things get really nasty over the next few months? Where's your bunker so I can come join you when the orange idiot pushes the red button?

Hey I used to jump too. Star Farms baby!

Almost a year later....Hubby decided that he no longer needs a loft (!!) so the game room is going in there. The room is empty and painted, just have to put down some cheap vinyl flooring and new lighting and it'll be time to fill it up Plan is to be done by Turkey day (the one where we eat turkeys, not the one where we choose a new one for president). Hopefully we can have it done by then. A pinball machine, a ridiculously large TV in the box, new speakers in boxes, the craps table and a few boxes of stuff for the walls are all sitting in the living room. Waiting...

An age waiver approved by the very BOD he serves on. What is required of a dzo to get that waiver? How many dz's in the US have that waiver? -
AFF level 3 goes wrong! Rate this instructor!

Ideally yes, the instructor will pull for the student if they miss it twice. -

AFF first jump training includes what to do if one or both instructors are not there at pull time. A level 1 AFF student should know what to do if they can't find the main handle even if the instructor is there. -

Not to go OT but... I know a national director whose kids were jumping at 14 (or was it 12?). and apparently his dz still allows those under 18 to jump despite the fact that is busting a BSR... -

He had a reserve handle, right? Why didn't he pull that? The AAD fire had nothing to do with the instructor, unless that instructor trained him and neglected to talk about that. By level 3, a student should be able pull their own reserve if they can't find the main handle, and they should know what to do if an instructor isn't there at pull time. Shit happens, I signed the waiver, it's on me to save my own life. -

Why didn't the student pull? -
A friend has a few machines he wants to sell in the near future but has no idea where to find out what they are worth. He asked me but I don't know either. I don't know what machines he has, I only know they all work. He's not ready to sell right this moment, just looking for info so he knows how to price them when he is. Don't ask for contact info please, this is not an advertisement. Anyway, does anybody have a good resource for general pricing on a variety of used industrial machines?
