Yep. That's all it is. A fun ride.

Leave everything you read here at home. Listen to your instructors.

Landings ... I am frustrated beyond belief!!!
skybytch replied to OlympiaStoica's topic in Safety and Training
So how would you teach that to someone who doesn't get the whole zen "feeling" thing? Telling someone to "fly the canopy" doesn't give them any information on HOW to fly the canopy. Telling someone to finish the flare doesn't help them if you don't tell them HOW to finish the flare. Give a person like that a basic "recipe" for an effective flare, and with time and practice they will learn to "just fly the canopy." I could be wrong, but the results I've seen so far tell me I'm not. -
Dying really shouldn't be at the top of your list of worries. It's far more common to just fuck yourself up for 6 months to a year (if you're lucky).

At least one of those suggestions is not appropriate in any conversation between skydivers, ever.

Parachuting in a very full dress
skybytch replied to parachutedress's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Any tandem instructor that would do that is, imho, seriously lacking in judgment. -
Heh. Wait til you start getting the dividends. You're gonna be ecstatic.

15k:1:0 Monday was 15k all day. Did a really fun 2 way tracking dive with my s/o. A couple docks, traded off who led a couple times, then at 7 grand I took him out, he locked on to me and we tumbled, laughing our asses off, until breakoff.

Parachuting in a very full dress
skybytch replied to parachutedress's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's not just the deployment of the main you have to worry about - if the main malfunctions and you have to cut it away and deploy the reserve, that dress could easily cover the handles that you would really need to be able to see and pull if you wanted to survive the skydive. For this reason it's highly improbable that any instructor out there would let you do it on your first jump, whether static line, tandem or AFF. -
Yet another reason PD rocks. They actually want their dealers to make a profit! Not much of a profit but still, what a concept!!!

The percentages you give will change with any change to the specific items on your "RFQ." Different canopy manufacturer? Different percentages. Different main canopy? Different percentages. Addition or deletion of one option on the container? Different percentages. So yours are really only useful to someone ordering the exact same combination. It'd be interesting to see which vendor responded the fastest. Since many skydivers consider customer service to be as or more important than price when buying skydiving equipment, knowing which vendors make an effort to respond quickly might be helpful. Did you send the emails separately to each vendor or did you mass email them? That might make a difference in how quickly they responded. Speaking as a former gear salesperson, I tended to respond to the emails that were addressed solely to the company I worked for first, then I dealt with the ones that were addressed to nearly every gear dealer out there.

Don't forget to update your emergency contacts (at every dz you visit!) when things change, too. Might be a hassle if your parents have moved or you are no longer married to that person when/if something bad happens...

My weekend will consist of many hours of solo Wii, several hours of surfing the interwebs, an hour or so of walking with the dog and way too many hours of waiting for my favorite man to get home. Next weekend is gonna kick ass though.

Yet. Toggle fires used to be kinda rare, and since most people jumped big slow mains they usually didn't end in a cutaway. Since the introduction of non-velcro toggles, they happen fairly regularly, and with the more aggressive canopies people fly nowadays they often require a cutaway. Not to mention the possibility of getting fingers caught in unstowed excess brake line (that'd never happen...). Like the OP, I'm an old school velcro toggle type too. Have never had a brake pop on opening. The only downside to velcro is wear on the lower steering lines and that's only if you aren't careful (and replacing lowers is cheap and fast). Personally, I think non-velcro toggles have created more issues than they solved...

If you don't mind posting them, others might find those pointers helpful too.

Right. So a cunt suck is someone who likes to eat pussy. Again. What's so wrong about a guy who likes to eat pussy?!??

They will last as long as you take care of them. Downsizing does not have to be an issue. You should easily be able to get 500 jumps out of your first container and reserve. Buy something that was built to fit the canopies you want to put in it and you should be able to safely downsize your main twice before you will NEED something smaller. And if you take good care of it, you should be able to sell it for a few hundred less than you paid for it when it's time. I know people with thousands and thousands of jumps on the same container. It's all about how you take care of it. I know some people with 3000+ jumps on their mains. I had one go away on me at about 1200 jumps. Again, how you take care of it matters. Where you jump it can also matter (jumping in desert areas - Perris, Eloy - tends to reduce canopy longevity). A reserve will last as long as your rigger says it's airworthy.

Let 'em pay their own way. My college education is far more important than the college education of your children is. As for juicy.... send me an offer and I'll letcha know how much and what sort of information it's worth.

How the hell am I supposed to make any money selling the secrets of the dz.com moderators if you go around telling them for free?!???!!!????

Wow, you must be special! He only called his new best friend a cunt suck 9 times in the first post.

I dunno. Deep tongue doesn't work well for me, I much prefer clitoral stimulation.

Who compares people to pet food and water dishes? You're weird.

I posted a good question in a thread that had to go away. I'd really like an answer. What exactly is a cunt suck? Is that supposed to be someone who likes to eat pussy? If so, why is that a bad thing? I kinda like people who eat pussy. And guys who ARE good at it (as opposed to those who SAY they are good at it) get laid more often too. Oh wait, maybe I get it now. Someone who uses "cunt suck" as an insult is jealous cuz he isn't any good at eating pussy. Am I right?

RIP Gary. And thank you.
