  1. 1 hour:1:0 Spent an hour last night playing rhythm on the guitar while friends jammed over me on mandolin and flute. Good fun! One jump - a two way with my favorite skydiver. Peeled a two way off the door, geeked the camera guy in the door hard enough that I forgot all about presenting to the relative wind, did some tracking and back tracking, got fruitlooped, fruitlooped him, sweet opening, kicked my legs at him as he flew by under canopy, and I didn't screw up my landing. Yay for 70 degrees on the ground!
  2. And some people despise the pronouncements of know-it-alls who weren't there, don't know what they're talking about, and say incorrect and derogatory things about their injured friends. That's why I refuse to post anything about accidents that I've witnessed. And some people don't want to be contacted by private investigators and/or lawyers retained by the estate(s) of the dead and/or injured (yes, it happens, on a fairly regular basis, and it doesn't matter how long ago the incident happened either). Which is also yet another good reason to not fill out profile info.
  3. Figures... we were stuck with the US feed. Heard a rumor that CBC had video that showed Big Joe's shot under Anderson actually crossing the line. I predict that Marleau and Nabby will be wearing different colors next season if they don't both kick it up a notch or three.
  4. Aw, c'mon, at least give up the details. It's really fun to watch them drool and wonder.
  5. Yeah, if he'd meant to do it. Looked to me like he was trying not to hit him - but then again, I freely admit that I know jack shit about hockey. It all worked out... he got the game winner anyway.
  6. That would have been because the Sharks were hungry tonight.
  7. Indeed. At least three of those goals were completely his bad. Kinda wondering why he was even on the ice for the third. Wish I knew enough about hockey to bitch about the officials... goaltender interference on Setoguchi my ass...
  8. Dunno what you're watching but I haven't heard any booing. Hell of a game on both sides so far - what a 2nd period! Wish Nabby was a bit sharper... and some scoring from the top line would be nice too... The Detroit-Phoenix game is pretty amazing too.
  9. My Sharks pj bottoms, Sharks practice sweater and Sharks hat, of course.
  10. Yes. I switched to beer. One Newcastle down, just over a six pack of Mirror Pond left.
  11. But just to make everyone wish I'd give up the info, it's beautiful there, snows on rare occasions, doesn't get insanely hot or cold or humid or dry, feels like it's a million miles from anywhere but is within an hour drive of a major city, a few dropzones, several wildernesses to hike in and a bunch of ski resorts. And there are non-manufactured houses on multiple acre lots available for around $200k. If I could figure out a way to make a living without having to commute, I wouldn't wait to retire to move there.
  12. Me either. Which is why I'm drinking over the internet.
  13. The sun is setting somewhere right now!
  14. It's Friday, you ain't got nuthin' else to do and it's five o'clock somewhere so... Working my way through the big bottle of Skyy, mixed with whatever is left in the fridge. Mmmmm..... Skyy.... And you?
  15. I'd tell you, but then you'd move there.
  16. I tried not to care about hockey. I really did. But once I realized that despite my efforts, I care about hockey, well, I had to pick a team, right? But being female, of course I had to consider the whole harmonious home life thing when picking "my" team. I mean, with him being a swooper and me being a canopy nazi, there's loads of stress in the household already. I just can't add to that stress by becoming a fan of a team that might actually make it to (much less past) the second round.
  17. I agree! For awhile there it seemed like neither team was able to get anything going - wonder how many minutes the puck spent in the neutral zone? This is going to be a good hard fought series if that game was any indication. Colorado definitely came to play.
  18. Good question. How would you deal with this if that student was your child? More to the point of my original question, how would you deal with this if the unrated instructor was your child? So far, I've determined that USPA has no SOP for dealing with unrated jumpers doing instructional jumps. It's all on a case by case basis. I've heard of "punishments" ranging from nothing at all to writing a letter of apology to revocation of ratings/membership - and the higher levels of punishment are rarely imposed. All for the same basic offense. This is counterproductive in more ways than one. Why should I report someone else to USPA and risk being ostracized by my "family" if common knowledge is that nothing substantial will happen to the person being reported? If common knowledge that punishment is not likely is correct, what incentive do I have to follow the BSR's? Should USPA develop and implement SOP's for handling BSR violations?
  19. They have a pretty good sized store in the Reno, Nevada, area.
  20. Took about a month for most of that to go away for me. I was told to sing along with the radio a lot - theory being the more you "practice", the faster your tongue gets used to the partial being in there, the faster your speaking gets back to "normal." After eight months with it, now I think I talk funny without it.
  21. It might. And it might not. You're 190 pounds body weight. That makes you about 210 out the door. 210 out the door on a 160 main is a wingloading of 1.3 - that is considered by most to be excessively high for someone just off student status. Look for a main and reserve in the 190-210 sq ft range. Your legs and ankles will probably thank you. Oh, and talk to your instructors about what size canopies to buy before you buy anything.
  22. Give him my love! He'll remember me as Lisa from Paso.
  23. These are old but they always make me smile. First is from the Old Farts Boogie, 2002. Second is from the Bytch Boogie, 2003.
  24. Not a problem - Open Office does it all and it's a free download. Linda, netbooks are awesome - if I were buying a laptop now that's the way I'd go. Way smaller and lighter than a laptop. The only downsides that I can see to them are screen size, keyboard size and the lack of a CD/DVD reader/writer. If you won't need to install or run programs from CD/DVD and you can make out the words on the screen, they're pretty cool. For internet access - if you don't want DSL anymore you might look into one of the portable wi-fi "hot spots" that some of the cell providers offer. Sprint has one for around $60 a month that supposedly works anyplace there's 3G or 4G coverage. We checked out a friends the other night; speed was fine, even with two computers using the connection.
