How many jumps did you do in 2005? - 74 What did you do in 2005 that you had never done before? - Attended a hockey game, attended an NFL game, attended a minor league baseball game, went to Lost Prairie, went backpacking, worked with fabric. What did you do in 2005 that you hadn't done for at least 5 years? - Went skiing, attended a major league baseball game. What didn't you do in 2005 that you would have liked to have done? - Been a part of JFTC. What bad thing happened to you in 2005 that you now think was a good thing? - Getting fired. Name one thing that you learned in 2005 - I learned how to turn a set of measurements into a jumpsuit that fits.

I agree, but would change "have faith that it will" to "not care if it does." Help people when they need help, then forget about it. If you help 10 people and only 3 pay it forward to someone else, it's not the 7 who didn't that are important, it's the fact that 3 people out there got help when they needed it.

Because they are living in their head and you are living in yours. The best advice I ever got was in the book The Four Agreements. Agreement #1 is - take nothing personally. Adopting this one agreement as your own and working at living it will totally change the way you approach life and relationships, and will eventually eliminate you ever feeling like people suck.

30 (scholarships found to apply for):3:3 Two 2 way sitfly jumps, one Friday and one Saturday. Tried to lead a tracking dive on my back for my 1100th Saturday evening - wow, do I suck at back tracking, funny shit. Spent most of Sunday in the landing area videoing loads land. First jump of 2006, first jump ever that I didn't have a cigarette after, first time trying to lead a tracking dive on my back.

Finish that first, then consider cutting away and being a dz bum. "Living the dream" can be a lot of fun. It's a lot more fun if you have a real world career to fall back on when you get sick of Top Ramen.

Boyfriend you pay for it, whine moan complain... A wise person once told me - no matter how good he looks, somewhere someone is sick of his shit.

My tentative plans for 2006 - Someplace for Memorial Day. American Boogie, Davis for sure. Probably Lost Prairie. Maybe WFFC. Byron Boogie, Byron for sure if it happens this year. Maybe MOAB. Holiday Boogie in Eloy is a possibility. Most of the above depends on what job I find, whether or not I get the AFF rating and how much financial aid I end up getting for school.

Anything happening in central California?
skybytch replied to diverdad's topic in Events & Places to Jump
That's changed. Currently students and A license holders are landing primarily in the south field on the airport. -
I've owned an Oxygn helmet for a couple of years; have only put an hour or so of tunnel time and 20-ish jumps on it. I chose the standard Oxygn over the Factory Diver or Oxygn A3 for a couple of reasons. I don't like a fixed lens (Factory Diver) and I prefer an internal audible mount (Oxygn A3 has an external mount). imho, the downsides to the Oxygn/Oxygn A3 include the chance of the lens coming off in freefall, learning the trick to closing the lens correctly and the hassle involved in changing the lens. I much prefer to jump my open face helmet; much better peripheral vision and I like to feel the wind in my face.

One 40 year old is better than two 20 year olds.

The envelope is still there and it's still being pushed. It's just bigger than it used to be. Still happens, every weekend on every dz. For good or bad, still happening. It comes down to perspective. For those who no longer jump, the days when they did are their glory days. For those jumping now the glory days could be anytime from when they did their first jump to next weekend.

Some thoughts after the Holiday Boogie
skybytch replied to johnny1488's topic in Safety and Training
Do you think you won't hear the shit anymore when your new rig with the 190's arrives? Don't sell your 210 yet, you may want it for those hot, no wind days when the surf is up. -
40/35/50. My kid is 22 and the thought of dating anyone who wasn't at least in high school when he was born seems way creepy to me.
-
That seals it. I'll be there for sure now! I looooooove Kendal.

I agree. That's what they are there for (fyi, both Keith and Neal are S&TA's; if Keith's on the dz he tries to watch as many loads land as he can). Until the landing area dries out there will be traffic issues. You can avoid this in the future, even once the waters recede, by planning ahead. Look at who is on the load with you. If you don't already know them and what they fly, ask people what canopies/wingloadings they are flying and where they are pulling before you leave the airplane. With that information you can decide where to put yourself in the "lineup" for landing, and work on creating spacing before anyone enters the pattern. If you know that you are one of those with heavier loadings you can spiral down so you are one of the first in the pattern (in your case, after the swoopers but before those flying big boats, like me); if you know you're one of those with lighter loadings you can hang in brakes to enter the pattern later. Good job staying aware and landing safely! edit to add - It's worthwhile to spend some time when you aren't jumping or packing watching loads land. Keith is a good person to do this with; I've learned a lot about setting up and flying patterns in traffic from him.

[no really, we need a hurling smiley] So I wake up this morning and the guys - yes, I said guys - on the radio are discussing the show. Like, debating which of the stars did the best job and which one they think is going to win and how the rules should be changed so the stars aren't stuck with the same partners for the whole season. AAAACCKKk!!!

Maury Povich vs Jerry Springer! Oprah vs Ellen! Bob Barker vs Alex Trebek! I like.

Normally I do too. But a certain person who lives here likes to have it on...

What's your favorite song for a skydiving video?
skybytch replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in The Bonfire
OMG. I can not listen to that song anymore. I swear it went on every passenger's video when I was doing tandems. -
Who comes up with these show ideas? How do I go about getting their job? I know I could come up with crap like this and still have time to post whore for the other 7 hours and 59 minutes of the work day. Most everything on television sucks anyway, but this is so bad I had to leave the room. I could feel my brain melting... [we need a hurling smiley] Does anybody really watch something like this for more than the two minutes the commercials are on another channel? edit to add - sorry if I've just offended anyone who actually enjoys shows like this.
-
Me too. But not for the skydiving. Watch it cuz I have a speaking part.
-
Breathe, dude. At least you have a house to sell.

Yeah, I've read them once or twice.
