  1. Yes, ecigs. It's not 2009 anymore. There are numerous options available now that were not available then. Tank atomizers are more popular than cartridges. Liquids are available that are made with only organic ingredients (vegetable glycerin, flavorings and nicotine). Is it healthy? Doubtful. Is it healthier than smoking cigarettes? Maybe, maybe not, jury is out. Can it help hardcore nicotine/cigarette addicts quit? Absofuckinglutely.
  2. Four and a half months tobacco free. Four weeks nicotine free. Highly recommend ecigs for those ready to quit smoking cigarettes. They made it almost easy.
  3. It's a good thing helmet visors and buckles never fail then!!!!!! [rolls eyes] The dreaded goggle fail. Had that happen to me once. I died.
  4. They'd be happy to design the molds if the camera manufacturers didn't change the camera dimensions every year. The introduction of wind tunnels and high level coaching (ie Airspeed camps) had way more to do with that than what kind of helmets they were wearing. I hope that never happens. Some of us like the wind in our face and don't mind having to replace goggles.
  5. Protank is pretty nifty, isn't it? I'm on my last bottle of 12, going to 6-8 for the next month.
  6. It's fine to buy new for your first (post AFF) rig. If you have the money, want something new and custom and are willing to wait for it, order away. It may make more financial sense to buy used for your first rig, but so does buying a used Toyota instead of a new Mercedes. It's your money, spend it how you want to.
  7. I'm not nicotine free (using ecigs), but I am tobacco smoke free. I changed my diet about a month before quitting cigs (gluten free and eliminated carbonated beverages) so I'm not sure which caused it... but I'm now hungry most of the time - and I used to be able to go most of the day without eating.
  8. Don't pull so hard on them. They'll last for a long time.
  9. 28 days. I'll be coughing up crap forever... too many years, damage already done. But it's nice to taste things. :D
  10. What can I make? Yummy candy from scratch. Pouches and tote bags and window coverings from fabric. My husband crazy. I want to learn how to make things with wood. And having recently gone gluten free, I would also like to make my own flour. And pasta.
  11. If you say so. I quit smoking. Quitting nicotine will come with time. I'm no longer breathing in tobacco smoke. That's a big deal. Don't really give a shit what you think.
  12. Today marks 22 days tobacco free. After 30 years. I don't miss it. I've tried gum, lozenges, patches and cold turkey in the past. Nothing worked for more than six days. For me, the ecig is working well to calm the nicotine monkey. I recommend it to those who are struggling. Yay me.
  13. Teenage Mutant Ninja Hertl!!! I _almost_ felt bad for the Rangers last night.
  14. Today will be 22 days tobacco free for me. Longest time without a cigarette in almost 30 years. Still have nicotine monkey, but ecigs keeping that at bay. Keep it up! It's so nice to be able to smell again!
  15. Should be an interesting season for the Sharks. Have you seen the lines? Depth down to three with a scrapper on the fourth. Savvy old farts and smart young guys all over the team. Niemi better not choke.
  16. A Spectre "can" be sized and flown such that you'd consider it boring. But my husband has a 135 loaded at about 1.5 that he loves as much as he loves his Velo. It's all in how you fly it. He gets longer swoops than some people do with their Katanas, and has the advantages of soft on heading openings and good stall recovery. What do you want out of skydiving this time around? Do you need to fly fast under canopy on every skydive and are you willing to accept the risks? If so, go with the Katana (or equivalent). Are you okay with a bit less performance in exchange for reduced risk? Go with the Spectre. You know the correct answer. Get demos of each one and wring them out.
  17. A 170 F111 will fit in a rig built for a 150 zp main just fine. Why would you want her on F111? Do you not love her?
  18. Oh quit whining like a boring risk averse old fart. It's a big blue sky out there, nothing bad is going to happen, skydiving is about freedom and you can't tell me how to fly my parachute.
  19. Maybe a few hundred jumps, maybe a thousand, maybe never. Every jumper is different. You might not ever have the skills to safely fly a 1.4 wingloading, or you could have those skills within a few hundred jumps. You might decide you are happy with something in the 150-170 range for the rest of your skydiving career. There is no rule that says you have to downsize.
  20. Y'know all these people saying to bring an ice chest with food in it? Raid their ice chests when they are up on a load.
  21. Don't care if men like my sweats or not. For that matter, I don't care if men like anything I wear. I dress to be comfortable, not to make some random male's peepee stand up...
  22. I just spit coffee on my laptop. That's the funniest thing I've read all week.
  23. It's gonna be hot in that tent in August. If you can, set up next to the memorial park (not on the grass, but outside the trees in the dirt). That way you have some shade for part of the day. It's quiet there (can barely hear the tunnel), yet still an easy stumble back from the bar. A Coleman brand tent will stand up to a month of constant use just fine. You can find them at Walmart or Target; they are more expensive than the Ozark Trail brand, but they offer good ventilation and good water protection. If you don't intend to do much more than sleep in it, a 2 or 3 person tent will hold you and your gear and not cost more than $50 or so.
