Yeah a bit. Nothing big but a bunch of short hikes. We got a little trailer back in April and have so far spent 8 weeks on the road with it, exploring over 20 different National Parks and Monuments. Good times.

It's not. Stupid seizure meds mess with my balance. I miss it...

Wait. I might know you. Do you like gold flaked alcohol by chance?

Surgery. L4/L5/S1 fusion. 14 years later, it's a rare day that my back hurts.

It's okay as long as they are not Hispanic.

So it was YOU that sent the black helicopters?

Heads up to AFF-I's in New Jersey or Nearby
skybytch replied to AviationTD's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
Not all AFFI's are like you. There are some out there who truly enjoy teaching. It really sucks that there aren't more. If all you want is the skydive and the money, please, go throw drogues all day long. -
If you are ordering custom, don't worry about container size. Let the manufacturer decide what size based on the canopies and line types you will be putting into it, and in some cases how tight of a fit you want (you don't want tight). Why? If they size the container and your canopies don't fit, they will take care of you at no charge. If you specify a container size and your canopies don't fit, well, you got what you asked for.

I feel bad for my husband... the timing sucked. It was boogie weekend; instead of jumping and partying, he got to spend the whole weekend with a sick wife.

Six months ago, my mom didn't want to get one either. We're glad she did, cuz they found colon cancer early enough to remove it without radiation or chemo. Make the damn appointment.

I spent Saturday being diagnosed with appendicitis, then having the offending organ removed. Sunday was spent vomiting and whining about pain. I may do some more of that today.

Been playing for over a year. Fun game... until you get to the point where you can't get much further without spending real money - eventually others can steal in one attack more than you can produce under a 12 hour shield. I'm mollyunderfoot, clan is NC United.

Bloody hell. -
Exactly. My husband swoops his Spectre almost every time he jumps it. Heck, he got in trouble at Nationals one year for swooping a Lightning. And he gets more out of his Spectre than many guys get out of their Katanas

Yeah, I've been on the internet long enough to know that, thanks. Doc said three months on meds without a repeat and I can drive again. If I can drive, I can jump. This is doable. The no drinking part is gonna suck though.

No aura or advance notice. They started me at 500mg twice a day after pumping me up with Dilantin in the ER. I see the neurologist tomorrow. Already had 2 CAT scans, an EEG and an MRI, all "normal". How long does it take to adjust to the meds and be able to do normal stuff again? Six hours after taking a pill I'm still fried. We have a backpacking trip to go on in 8 days... I don't think I could walk a mile without a pack right now, much less 5 miles a day carrying 25 pounds.

Yup. WTF are you thinking, skydiving when you have children? You're responsible for them. They'll have to live without you, with the memories of your death, and the other parent will be stuck raising them alone. All so you can get a cheap thrill.

Landing crosswind is much less likely to kill you. Don't do low turns. If you can't or are scared to land crosswind, downsize.

Had a second grand mal seizure today. I'm now on Keppra.E ven though I only jump a couple times a year now, I'm not done jumping yet. Anybody out there on anti-seizure drugs and still skydiving?
-
Yup. Nine years ago. We're happily married now.

Enjoy every second. So sorry you have to say goodbye so soon. We had Molly (my/our 14 year old Border Collie) cremated. She's been in a box for over a year now. Our plan is to take her to our favorite local wilderness and let her go... someday. I'm not quite ready yet.
