  1. Seen the UK lottery add yet? Where there's a jumper in the door and refusing to go saying "I won't go". The "luck fairy" then turns up and throws the winning lottery ticket out the door and asks if he'll go now. Scared jumper jumps out after the ticket. I can't help thinking that I wouldn't have gone if I were him... not even for the winning lottery ticket. He has no main as there's only the big ring from the 3 ring circus left and he has no reserve either as the D-ring is missing and there's nothing else in it's place. He might get hold of the ticket if he's damn lucky... but he's certainly not going to be arround to cash it.
  2. Hmmm... got this in the e-mail this morning advertising cheap prints... All I can think of is... her goggles are upside down.
  3. course Porters orignially had radial engines... hence the stupidly long nose on them because the turbine is much much lighter and they have to stick it way out front in order to keep the C of G right...
  4. I got the shit smacked out of me on a couple of occasions by a ZP.EXE so I bought a Pilot. I figured it was more that canopy than the design though. Extreme packing would alleviate the problem. Anyone want to buy a lovely well behaved ZP.EXE...? great canopy... no...?
  5. You continue to rely on newspaper reports alone. I have posted the original sources, direct from the Home Office. Why do you avoid using primary sources? Is it because they entirely rebut your theory? Yes the BCS states crime is higher than police reported crime - that's because it's more accurate. Crime is higher than police figures alone would indicate, but the fact is that it is falling and as I have said, has been falling for some time now. You have a bee in your bonnet about crime being up. It is not. Your description of the BCS as a "phone survey" also demonstrates a continued ignorance of the topic despite ample opportunity for you to go to the primary sources and actually take a look for yourself. Sadly John you are out on a limb on that one. The experts in this field do not back you up. Your theory is yours alone and goes against the weight of the criminologist community as a whole. I am afraid that fact speaks volumes about your theories in general.
  6. maybe the "IRA" as an entity yeah (actually "PIRA")... but then they are only one of dozens of terrorists organisations in Northern Ireland. After the cease-fire came into place and the PIRA mainland bombing campaign ceased, some terrorists weren't happy with the situation and broke away from PIRA forming the "Real IRA". I suspect the same will happen now if there's any fight left in any of them. Then again world opinion has turned away from terrorism. I suspect Irish terrorism won't get as far as they once did without the support of Libia and certain US elements. Besides, the people are just plain tired of all the violence. They just want to get on with their lives.
  7. Why is it reasonable to assume that a middle-class Muslim with ties to other Muslims is an irrational person?
  8. Tell you what man, why don't you click here then you can read all the thousands of posts which have gone before on this topic and pretend like we're all having the same conversation all over again. That way no one else on here has to bother with it and this nice little thread about how the IRA are giving up terrorism can continue undisturbed.
  9. I'm not so sure... If it's 9 weeks now then 4th August (08/04/05 in 'US speak') would be 10 weeks... just as apparently quoted... just as the website says... assuming wings wrote the date in 'US speak 'of course. When did you order the rig shyma? And who told you, Wings or the dealer?
  10. damn... guess I gotta go home now then and pull out all the guns I thought I legally owned and give em to the cops. That reminds me... I keep meaning to buy one of these. Would be real fun. Perfectly legal too, even here.
  11. ding ding ding ding ding ding [cash spews out a chute on the from of Remsters PC]
  12. Was that directly from Wings or from the dealer through whom you ordered your container?
  13. Cool, you wrote to the company before posting here. What did they say?
  14. nah - we'd need an outlandish conspiracy theory and something to insult at least one racial/sexual minority in order to make it a fully inclusive SC thread. Why not create post claiming God is a homo' who writes for a liberal newspaper and thinks Bush wants to start a war with Brazil over oil; and that's why we must go to church?
  15. And there's me thinkin' from the thread title you'd accidentally got yourself an EXT model. Tell me this isn't a classic, 'post first, actually talk to the manufacturer seccond' thread...
  16. Actually that's precisely what they have been supposed to be doing now for some time. Their failure to prove that they have destroyed/handed over all of their weapons stocks is what's been holding up the peace process. Of course whether or not they actually will do what they say they're doing is another thing. We talking about terrorists here after all.
  17. hehe, I'm still struggling with the logic myself - Terrorists decide to give up their TNT and machine guns... and this is somehow a bad thing... ... nope... still not gettting it.... ah wait - maybe it's because the TNT and machine guns were bought with American money, maybe that's why this is a bad thing? ... no... no, that doesn't quite make sense either...
  18. If they're a student: Section 6 2.2 of the ops manual says: If they have an "A" license then I don't believe there are any BPA rules on their wingloading. What is appropriate is determined by the CCI. Different CCI's are more or less strict but none I know of are silly about what they let people jump.
  19. John, all you are doing is repeatedly posting newspaper reports which quote the same set of figures. The introduction to those figures states: "police recorded crime figures do not provide the most accurate measure of crime... The British Crime Survey (BCS) gives a more accurate picture of crime levels and trends". (supra) The figures you post say you are wrong to rely on them alone. They say the BCS figures are more accurate. I have given you those figures. They contradict yours entirely. You are not going to convince anyone posting figures which discredit themselves in their introduction and invite the reader to rely instead on the figures which contradict them. Further posting of figures you know refer to themselves as being inaccurate would be disingenuous. Further posting of figures which you know tell you to refer instead to the BCS would make you a liar. It's up to you John how much credibility you have with people on here.
  20. Well I can't really take credit for that statement unfortunately - been around for ages, long before my time in this sport. But yeah, pretty much - most of those are games not sports. Never heard of "soccer" being called "the beautiful game"?
  21. Note that if you let the brakes up quickly and go back into full drive your canopy will surge towards the ground momentarily as it picks up speed. If you do this too low you could seriously injure yourself. Watch some tandems land and you may well will see them doing this, although they will do it at a hight which allows them to land safely.... you won't be nearly so accurate without the 1000's of jumps most tandem masters have. It will illustrate for you though how the canopy (even a big ass canopy) will surge towards the ground when you let up on the breaks quickly. Just something to think about incase you were going to be in breaks low to the ground.
  22. The let was a Czec plane I think. The Russians rutinely stick 22/23 people on board. I know of them being run with 24. They climb slowly at that loading though. In the UK its limited I think to 17 or 18 and that's with a portion of the cabin taken up with a toilet/cupboards. They then climb like hot shit off a shiny shovel. I've seen them flown with either 2 pilots or only 1... I don't know if this is dependant on the pilot's paperwork or the planes though...
  23. old age and heart attacks while you just happen to be on the course also dont count - I mean die because the sport kills you... I'd give you it where the golfer dies from being struck by his ball if it bounces off a tree or something... still that's a bit of a freak event.
