I think they're suggesting an alternative to your hoodie... at least that's what I thought anyway.

Well ok then, I guess that comes down to a difference of opinion then... I'm happy to concede that I don't suggest the dog's name is essential to the storyline just because it happened to be his name in real life. The story would still go on even if he was called Chewbacca. It would contain lies... but the story would still be essentially the same. Although I do see your point... the story would no longer be the story, just a very very similar story involving a dog called Toto. ehem... a thread on a multinational website started by a Brit about a British remake of a British film depicting things done by Brits in Britain. I'm not sure that it really matters that much what Americans in 1940 thought.

USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
mr2mk1g replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
edit - I misread your post. I've not been to a USPA GM DZ that did not require USPA membership despite the fact that I'm not a US national. I confess though I don't know the actual letter of the law... but that certainly is the practical reality of the situation. -

USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
mr2mk1g replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm not an USPA member, why should be this requirement be applied on me? I've highlighted the important part for you. If you go to the states to a USPA DZ you HAVE to join the USPA if you want to jump. Then the requirement might have to be applied to you. If you don't want to jump in the states at a USPA DZ then it wont apply to you... but then if you don't want to travel to the states there wasn't really a lot of point in replying to his question about travelling there. -
I think the bigger question right now is do they hand people over to other nationals to get the tortured. It's almost comical that whenever US officials get asked the question they say "US nationals do not torture people"... which is odd, because that's not actually the question being asked. Guess we'll find out soon enough. The EU's just launched an investigation into the allegations stating that "the information gathered to date reinforced the credibility of the allegations concerning the transport and temporary detention of detainees -- outside all judicial procedure -- in European countries." An almost equally comical but sad case has just been brought before the US courts too, where a German national was snatched by the CIA and flown out of Europe to Afghanistan where he was held for 5 months before being dumped in the middle of a wood back in Europe after the CIA realised they had the wrong man! It reads like something out of a Hollywood comedy but the reality must be awful for those involved in these kidnappings.

You miss the point. There was no "writer". The film simply tells what actually happened. No one came up with the name "nigger" for the film, that actually was the name of the real dog owned by the real person Guy Gibson who did actually exist in real life. The main point of the name staying is not to lie to people about history. It really was the real dog's real name. The value it brings to the story is that it does exactly what you state - it reflects the pervading thought of that time regarding Black people. That is the VERY reason why it should remain and cutting it out would be so dangerous. The pervading thought of that time as you put it was complete indifference to colour. There was not racism in England as there was in the US or even as there is in England today. For the most part, no one cared. If no one cared if you're black or white and there are no negative connotations to the word "nigger" then why the hell not call your dog "nigger"? At the time it was just a name like any other. That is one of the important cultural lessons the name's inclusion in the film could teach young people. British racism in its present form is for the most part borne out of 50's and 60's mass immigration which was perceived to threaten labour markets. It is also due to a good deal of cultural seepage from the US. It didn't really exist in the 1940's. We imported it from you guys and by endangering our labour markets. That surely is an important lesson; to demonstrate the utter indifference to race that our recent past exhibits.

nah, I could never forgive him because I hate him having read a couple of posts by him on the internet and failed completely to cotton onto the fact he's simply taking the piss so that's why I hate him even though I've never met him but he is hate-worthy because I he is and I shall run around my house and waive my arms as I spit with the amount of hate I have for him because of what I read on the internet by him when I made a funny that I hate.

Nope - random gene mutations happen all the time as a normal part of life. It doesn't. The mutations are random. It a random mutation gives your offspring neon yellow skin it probably won't give them and advantage and they won't survive in that aquatic environment any better than the more numerous normal humans. In fact they die out as they're more visible to predators. If the random mutation gives them webbed fingers they might have an advantage over their competitors and thus eat more and be stronger and therefore get better and more mates and their webbed genes will therefore be more numerous in the next gnereation. Over a long period of time whole populations can come to express this trait. DNA doesn't have to know anything. You should be - it doesn't happen that way. You reproduce just as normal, its only those random mutations which cause species to develop in one way or anther. Except the code is constantly changing with every gen

The difference is should students skip all jumps or should students be put out on something bigger than a 126 reserve canopy?

2K Composites FF2. Because it's the best side mount camera helmet on the market. I stand by that statement. 2K Composites FF1. Because they're local and it's a good helmet the equal of any other standard open face lid. I have a chin cup on it cos I like it snug. Some dodgy Australian Z1 knock off. Because it was cheap. It's an ok full face with some benefits over a Z1. Build quality is shit though. I wouldn't buy it again but it sits in my gear cupboard in case I need a full face.

That's what I want to know. I seem to be the only person in the world at the moment who's concerned by the reports that she was possibly on a 126 reserve. A student on a 126! Am I the only one who's wondering how low her medicals bills would actually be if that was a 210 rather than a 126???
-
Nope - that's partly my point. America doesn't do good at history. Hell they went to Vietnam and did exactly the same thing as the French did 10 years earlier, then wondered why they got their ass handed to them just like the French did. It only took 10 years and they forgot everything. If they'd only start listening to history they'd realise the lessons they keep having to learn have been taught before.

"better" is such a subjective word. Seriously, stop trying to find someone to tell you what to do with it and drink the stuff. If you like neat vodka drink it straight. If you like it with a mixer, drink it with a mixer. I'd try it with a whole host of things myself and make up my own mind... I like Marmite afterall... my girlfriend hates the stuff.

If you care about world affairs your first concern should be history. Otherwise we are doomed to simply endlessly repeat the same screw ups over and over and over again. Nigger wouldn't have had to see his master go on nearly so many raids if Chamberlain had just listened history's lessons about appeasement. Like I said - it's why we are who we are.

I guess at least the three linked stories from that one are good: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/4297286.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/4182244.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/4671255.stm

On the contrary - I think his concern was the fact that it had a 126 RESERVE in there!!! (possibly... although it would be a rather unusual container if it had a main pack tray sized for a 135 and a tempo 170 in the reserve). If putting a student out on a SabreII 190 is marginally dumb you really have to wonder about the logic of letting a student jump with a 126 reserve.

This is a classic example of where the US legal system is letting itself down by only providing a bare minimum of legal representation to those in society accused of the most serious crimes. If you want to have the death penalty you really must ensure the defendant has at least a competent lawyer. How else can there be any confidence in the verdict whatsoever? At present, the US is a world wide charity case receiving aid in the form of legal assistance from across the globe for death row inmates such as this individual, who are unable to obtain competent domestic legal advice because the system will ruin their career. It should be a national shame. Visit http://www.amicus-alj.org/ for information on how you can ensure individuals such as this man can be provided with at least competent legal representation when their case is heard.

See if katzurki will help. He works as a Russina/English translator in Moscow. His English is perfect.

To those who voted "no"... Why should we re-write history in order to lie to ourselves about where we come from? Is it not important to know the kind of society from which we have sprung? The History Channel trailers put it best I think - History; why we are, who we are.
