Like you I am not trying to an ass but I would say "all of the above". All it take is lacking or deficient in one category and you are in over you head. Sparky what would your propositon be then? if elliptical say over a WL of 1.5, more than, how much, 200 jumps per year!? that would be "relatively" conservative.. everyone's just complaining, but nobody seems to be willing to make a propositon; WHY!? I’ve posted my suggestions several times, it might even be in this thread. No useful response And I didn’t suggest banning any type of gear or how it is used. I did suggest banning some of the people that use it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Get some 1000 denier cordura and cut strips about 1” wider than your leg strap. Cut the strips about 1” longer than the existing leg pad. Get some thin high density form and cut strips the same width as the cordura and about 1” shorter. Take the strips of cordura and stitch each end over about 3/16 of an inch. Stack a piece of cordura; finish side up, a piece of the foam and a piece of cordura finished side down. Run a stitch line down each side back stitching at each end. Turn the whole thing inside out and slide them over your led straps. It does not alter or modify anything and just like putting an altimeter over you chest strap. Use type “E” and 9 to 11 stitches per inch. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I may be a pussy, but I'm pretty sure I'll be around longer than that guy haha. not putting blame on you or anything.. just something i've noticed; just saying, it's something to consider. and with (your) those jumpnumbers, it's safer to stay on a large(r() parachute.. that's all!

My rigger replaced my leg straps..how do i know she did it right?
mjosparky replied to CharlesFin's topic in Gear and Rigging
When AERO was producing emergency rigs for the Space Shuttle I was issued a set of stamps as a contract worker. This was before I had earned my riggers ticket. They were built under contract not TSO. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Cop threatens to execute driver over concealed weapon permit
mjosparky replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! Cops feel like they loose some advantage if citizens are armed......plain and simple I feel they are both stupid statements. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
I received this email this morning. Please forgive the cross posting. Sparky For those of you that have not heard Jim Fee died on Tues 2 Aug. 2011. He had been a patient at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital Houston Texas since Nov. 2010 and was moved to Park Plaza Hospital couple of wks ago and was in ICU the last 10 days or so. Born in Hope Arkansas. Enlisted in US Army in early 1960's and after a tour in Germany served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Held CFI ratings in both fixed wing airplanes and gliders. A man of many talents, worked as a big rig truck driver and jump pilot on week ends while getting his airplane ratings and a degree in Criminal Justice at night school then continued to work many years on week ends flying jumpers at both Elsinore and Perris, was a Probation Officer in San Diego, real estate and aircraft salesman, corporate pilot flying jets around USA and to Europe, I think if you put wings on a chair Jim could fly it. I don’t think there are many airplanes that he hasn’t rolled including DC-3’s; there are pictures to prove it. He was on the Worlds First 16 Way made at Elsinore Ca., and has been on several POPs and SOS World Records over the years. He fought till the last gasp which is what we all would have expected of his character. He will be missed. Ed Miller Vösendorf Austria My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Don't kid yourself. Pops will be around for your ash dive. We can do it like we did it back in the day, form a circle and piss in your crater. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I never knew I was such an important person... Cool! Only in your own mind. Your posts read like a kid yelling at the dark trying to convince the boogey man he’s not afraid of the night. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

It wouldn’t be so bad if he brought something to the discussion. As for talent not much chance. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

It was made by Para Flite and was one of the early 9 cells. They came in 3 sizes, 190, 220 and 270. On opening they would knock your dick in the dirt. If you changed the slider the opening were tolerable but just barely. I jumped a 220 and the 270 but only once each. Never again. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

My rigger replaced my leg straps..how do i know she did it right?
mjosparky replied to CharlesFin's topic in Gear and Rigging
Factory work and the QA of it does not require a rigger. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
70 some posts in this thread and you are the only one that has mentioned banning anything. As for 2700 jumps and 35 years I’ve never been ashamed to reveal my history in the sport. I did mange to survive in the sport longer than you’ve been alive. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I don’t have an answer for you. My gut feeling is that the ones going in with several thousand jumps are dedicated swoopers. They swoop after a skydive and get away with long enough to get complacent. But it shouldn’t take a genus to realize that if a jumper with thousands of jumps can die some kid with less than 500 should have the sense to go slow. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Now do you feel all warm and fuzzy? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Book: "Green Team", by Richard Marcinko
mjosparky replied to JohnRich's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When I was doing test work we jumped as high as 24,000 at YPG. The military FF school is located across the runway from Air Delivery where we were working. I am pretty sure they went to at least 30,000. Marcinko’s accomplishments are many and some very innovative. He was awfully impressed with him self which eventually got him booted out of the Navy. If you want a guy that epitomizes Deb Group, Team Six, google Denny Chalker. He is the real deal. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
How do you decide which advice to listen to?
mjosparky replied to skybytch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You sure pass out a lot of crap advice for a guy hiding behind anonymity. Bill, you are right I call bull shit also. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Since you are ashamed to identify yourself or where you jump I’m calling bullshit. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Brilliant, what’s that say about us? But I have an excuse, I am retired and no longer jump. So that leaves just you. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

To accomplish anything you need to lose the chip on your shoulder and admit to yourself there is a problem. There are more opportunities for education available today then at any time in the history of the sport. Particularly in canopy control. You have formal classes, books, DVD’s and mentorship at most DZ’s. Yet the carnage continues at an alarming rate. Going small and then going big is an attitude and culture of lemmings. They all want to be like the “big boys” but are too fucking lazy to put in the time and effort it takes to develop the skill needed. So they proceed to kill and maim themselves and often take other with them. You made reference to dz.com being immature; this is the pinnacle of immature, spoiled brats doing what they want regardless of consequence. My suggestion would be to enact a few very reasonable rules that would be agreeable to all but a few idiots. The main emphases would be being a threat to others. Then enforce them without exception. Make sure that the consequences of stepping outside of reason are harsh. First time grounded for 30 days, second time grounded for 6 months, third time you are gone for good. We would probably lose a few jumpers but that is already happening. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
-
Do you have any links to me saying change this, change that, enforce this and that? The only rule I am for is don't be stupid and fly your canopy into the ground or another jumper. It’s real simple but some people are to fucking dumb to get it. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Goodwin's law. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law There is no free choice, every aspect of your life is regulated in some manner. The only reason you have a place to jump is because someone else provided it for you. If you don’t follow their rules you don’t jump. If you want everything to run your way you must provide your own sandbox. Ain’t life a bitch? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
