  1. Mike have you forgotten about the Howard DGA? The only plane to never have an AD against it. (in the US) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. One of the sweetest sounds I remember for my early days was a D-18, with short stacks, roaring down the runway at 7:30 in the morning. It made the hair on my neck stand up.
  3. They sounded like they think it is their right to land in a secure area. No remorse, no apology. (at least from the article. and we know how that can be) Skydivers continue to be their own worst enemy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. I see personal opinion but no ideas. If as you say a “skydive university” is not need to teach wing suit flying what would you suggest? My experience in skydiving is the topic of this discussion but just for you…..I have done some Crew, speed star competition, 4 & 8 ways, big ways up to 200, some free flying and a little bit of wing suit. Along the way I managed to earn a riggers ticket and a pilot license. In all cased I would seek instruction from qualified people in each discipline. Except for Crew, when I started that no one knew much about it. Today everyone and their pet goat are trying to make money off the sport and hold themselves up as a guru in their chosen discipline. How does a jumper find the right person out of the crowd? As for “regulating a specific discipline of already experienced jumpers” that is already being done. A “C” lic. Is required to compete at the nationals and to get a Pro rating you must complete a course taught by a USPA I. http://www.uspa.org/tabid/170/Default.aspx#986 I don’t have a dog in this fight as I am retired for the sport. But from I see one side of the argument has put forth a plan to assure that newer WS flyers leave the plane with some structured instruction and the other side says the “good ol boys” system works just fine. I think that for better or worse skydiving has out grown that method. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. At your experience level the wing loading should bother you. How many jumps do you have under a 7 cell made from lopo material? phoenixlpr Almost, but low porosity material has a porosity like ZP for a couple of jumps. F-111 type material or lopo has a claimed cfm of 0-3 cfm. But in the real world it comes new at about 3-5+ cfm. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. One problem, none of those tests would meet minimum TSO requirements. The airspeed must be at least 180 NEAS with a weight of at least 264 lbs. You can’t substitute weight for airspeed like in some of the older TSO’s. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. More importantly will the whole USPA voting establishment believe that he is better than all the other minds. This solution better than all other possible solutions. That should be your question. My Idea's are based on a personal history of observation going back way before this issue and proposals. No he is not better. Just what are your ideas? I have seen a lot of rhetoric from you and others but Douglas is the only one that has produced anything of substance. If there is other material out there that I am not aware of please enlighten me. 9. The fact that you got away without injury doesn’t make it the smart thing to do. "There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Have you consider the idea that he might be right. Things sometimes work out that way in life. Not everyone should win a trophy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. Shall we all read the very first post? there is nothing about an age, condition or airworthiness of the canopy, there is a concern about the seller and possible scam. There is a question if skydiverek as a seller is a legitimate person. Moderators should react on off topic rigging discussion j. Read the complete thread before spouting off. Post #4 would be a good place to start. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  18. Should be required viewing for those who think a canopy transfer with ram air canopies is a smart thing to do. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. Where does it say how a pulse 150 flies loaded @1.3? Why is it that no one ever answers the actual question asked on dorkzone.com... If you read it you know it doesn’t and your response puts you in the same category you are complaining about. What it does do it direct the OP to information that may help him make a decision about wing loading that could save him some pain down the road. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. I take it you have already bought the canopy…….the question of fit should have been settled before purchase. FYI….if your profile is correct your wing loading on both main and reserve puts you in the danger zone. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. I understand. And good for you…..knowledge is power and this sport the more you know the better chance you have of surviving. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. You are right. On most steerable rounds pulling a toggle down spills air out on that side and causing the canopy turn. If you pull both down you spill air out of both sides…..do not turn but down faster. On some smaller sports rounds you could pull down on the rear risers and slow the decent rate. 24. Apples and oranges……a container is just the bag the canopy goes in. You don’t fly it or have to land it. It is no longer made because it cannot compete against new designs. I don’t remember saying anything about the integrity of the seller. I did say that I think the price was too high for the canopy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
