  1. So if I download it but don't watch the movie, did I steal anything? If so, isn't the theatre company stealing from the distributor if a movie is shown with empty seats in the audience? Let’s try and make it real simple. If something, anything, is for sale and you take it without paying for it…..that is called stealing. You can put any spin on it you wish that may make you fell all warm and fuzzy about your actions but it is still…STEALING. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. Read both posts and try to understand what is being said. You are in way over your head. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. We have had an effective way of dealing with separation on big ways from at least the 70’s that I know of. At break off you turn 180 from the center of the formation and track until your assigned pull altitude. As Bill said it has worked for loads up to 400 people. The safety comes from everyone doing the same thing. It’s when people try to be creative that things go to shit. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. You been around 3 years and think you have this all firgured out. You haven't seen the ball since kick off. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. Before you shoot your mouth off get your facts straight. Mike is not on the BOD or work for USPA. You might want to apologize for you remarks. 6. Are you saying that it is easier to read the dial on your Suunto, 34mm than it is to read the dial on an Altimaster III, 63 mm, or an Altimaster II at 70 mm? That seems a little hard to believe. 7. You don't jump on the first day, do you. If you have a helmet on the risers won't hit your face. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. Jumping a canopy almost 50 pounds over max exit weight is not fun it’s stupid. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Best answer of all. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  10. Because that is the weight PD feels is safe for that canopy. But if you own it you can load it any way you want. What's the worst that can happen. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  13. perhaps the younger generation is being a 'pussy' by caring about their longterm health ad wellness by not drinking alcohol...yes very pussy indeed No one said to drink it….they said buy it pussy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. No Pops, I'm not saying that at all. Assuming that logbook entry was a well intentioned but inappropriate and unwelcome prank, then why not just remove the page from your logbook, let the folks know who did it that you really didn't care for it and ask them not to do it again? Hopefully they would apologize, offer to buy a beer and everyone would sing Kumbaya around the bonfire. My point is, it’s a fairly innocent, minor transgression. If the reaction to something like this is to be “humiliated and embarrassed,” text one’s SO because your so upset and have a post on the net about how your logbook has been "vandalized" then really, is a dropzone a good place for someone like this to hang out? Alternately, are you suggesting we should censor and police ourselves so as to never accidentally offend anyone? And, yet again, I’m very sorry she was upset but a dropzone IS an adult environment. Someone this sensitive – some might say overly sensitive – is probably going to be offended a lot by being there. There is nothing that can be said that will justify this type of behavior. It is not “well intentioned”, fairly innocent” or a “minor transgression”. If as you say a DZ is an adult’s playground then act like an adult. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. It seems to me that the picture fits you best. You are the one that came on the net all huffing and puffing. As I posted before, it got removed, there doesn’t seem to be much room in your world for anything by your opinion. That is a good way to miss something important. 18. Every few years the pool of knowledge and survival skills goes down. It’s lucky that the gear keeps getting better to pick up the slack. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. "Back in my day.... blah blah blah, we jumped with umbrellas, these fancy parachutes you kids use are for wussies... blah blah blah". Obviously the GPS option is more for in-plane and under canopy use. Why do you dinosaurs feel the need to come out of extinction to wag your finger at others. Stay in your cave T-Rex, simmer down. It's a discussion forum. We do it just to piss you off and it seems to be working. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  21. What's this then ? (hint : only bailout qualified for use on a P-3) It is called the Thin Pack or Dura Pack. It comes in 3 versions, the basic aircrew like the picture, a version for the P-3 and a third for the E2-C. They also tried a civilian version. http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/mjosparky/Testing/LiveTest2.jpg Sparky the version that I have is a P22P Durachute from BAE here's more info http://events.us.baesystems.com/AUSA11/prodserv/Durachute.html for whatever reason the website that BAE had for the product no longer exists, but this thing has a 5year repack cycle due to being vacuum sealed. more info http://www.docstoc.com/docs/69851368/The-Durachute-Vacuum-Sealed-Rescue-Parachute# It was originally developed by a company out of the Phoenix area called Simula. I am very familiar with it…..I was involved in the testing both for the Navy and for the TSO. I did all the live jumps on it for the TSO. Here is some more shit on it. http://www.tslaerospace.com/product/simula/PDF/durachute_cypres.pdf Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. Was it one deployment bag or two? (or two sewn together?) The rounds were in 2 separate bags and deployed lines first like on a direct bag deployment. The cross form was deployed by an explosive charge blowing the nose cone off and dragging the bagged canopy with it. The hard part was building to 2 rounds. I hadn't done one in quite a few years. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. In a way they were. The 12’ cross form deployed at apogee…..and the whole rocket rode it down to around 2,000 feet and the 2 R-4’s deployed. I used the cross form just to get it to a lower altitude so the uppers would not blow it out of sight. It topped out at over 30,000 feet. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. If your instructors own the canopy or if it belongs to someone they know…..walk away. They do not have your best interests in mind. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
