Well, apparently my students aren't scared. Just like you have a service record that allows you to wear your patriotism where you like (and I respect that) I have a teaching record with a bunch of excellence in teaching awards to show for it. Teachers who tell the truth are appreciated by students, even when the truth is not so palatable. John, I have no doubt that your knowledge of your field is excellent, I have relied on your posts relating to physics more than once and will continue to do so. Its your apparent inability to contribute a positive thought to a discussion where positive ideas were requested. I worry that you will pass this very narrow view of the world on to your students. But then my view of you is restricted to what I see on this forum and that is very narrow. I would hope you are less pessimistic in other facets of you life. It ceases to be a free market process when the government steps in with a "cooling off period" or mandatory arbitration. I guess this was a mistake on your part? No - it was a response to your criticism of me in respect of my pointing out the truth about land use and airspace restrictions in the USA. Things that no-one has disputed. It seems that having the truth pointed out upsets a lot of Polyannas who like to wear their patriotism on their sleeves. You didn't like having the truth pointed out, that is very apparent. You don't like the message so you attack the messenger. You are right, no one has disputed your "truths", in fact some has already said you are right. I do not need to be a Polyanna in order to be happy. If it makes you happy to believe positive but untrue things about the USA, please go ahead, whatever floats your boat. I find it better, on the whole, to at least make the effort to be truthful and deal with it. If I wrote anything untrue in this thread about zoning laws, restricted airspace or small airports, I'm open to being corrected. Show me where anything I have said about this country is untrue. One truth you yourself have proved, life from your point of view is a "very dark and dreary world". I love this country because of what it is and what it isn't. Many years ago I went to war because my country said so. At 19 I did not know enough to know if it was right or wrong. Today I feel proud that I went, not because people died but because I feel I may have helped. This morning I drove to Perris and made a skydive with old friends, one celebrating his 25th. year in the sport. I came home and washed and detailed my Harley.
