Things you hate about people because you're just like them...
mjosparky replied to Nataly's topic in The Bonfire
But you are the only one responsible for your actions. And you shouldn’t be responsible for hers. But you can control how you react to her actions. Life is never simple especially when dealing with family. Hang in there Kid, I believe you can work it out. And you are right, life sucks at times. You can take the advice of someone on the net that you have never met or listen to the manufacture. Who do you think knows more about a rig? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

When I dump I look up and I can’t land it, it’s gone. No second guessing and no screwing with it. I lived with that rule for 30 years. Several others broke that rule and are dead. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

In 30 years I have never heard a jumper say that keep and log or getting their Lic. was a waste of time. On the other hand…….. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -

You say that you are both alike. It appears that you are the one that recognizes part of the problem causing friction. In any relationship there has to be give and take. Why don’t you become the one that does the giving? It won’t cost you anything and she is your Mother. When she’s gone it will too late to make up. Skydiving Research Questionnaire
mjosparky replied to b_allen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
99.9 percent of these research type postings are total bullshit. Kind of reminds me of some of the more colorfull spam I get. One of the ways to tell is the fact that most all undergraduates, when they do in fact do some kind of research it is highly structured and under the tight control of their professors. Most all undergraduates don't do this kind of survey research,...this is the biggest hint. Most non-undergraduate research is and or won't pass the ethical review boards because of the potential for liability and other concerns. Much of the past bullshit research you have seen here is just that: Bullshit. All post undergrads when doing research have their own email, web site, and the support of their faculty and they share this as a first step! The other big tip is the sample! By asking for such a select group as found here on the internet they have introduced a "Fatal Confound" and thus making any and all results of said research totally useless. I could go on for hours, but it's fun sometimes to see an unprecedented amount of ignorance in action. and yes there is more value in having a good erection than answering this droll bullshit. C So to the OP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Go !@#$%$##$% yourself. Now that there is funny! By “non-undergraduate” (is that even a word) do you mean “Graduate Student”? Do “post undergrads” mean “Graduate Student”? Could you direct me to a link that would explain the term “Fatal Confound”? I have tried Merriam-Webster on line Dictionaries, Wikipedia and Common Errors in English without any luck. I hope you don’t consider my questions to be “droll bullshit”. 16 year old fun jumper? Is she too young?

So how old is too old for a used rig?
mjosparky replied to scottf1887's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not true. Some manufacturers say that, and some riggers refuse to pack anything over 20 years old. But there are plenty of 20+ year old rigs out there that can be legally jumped. I don't mean to sound like I am completely nitpicking, but I am. Shelf life is not the same as service life. And as far as I know no civilian parachute manufacturer specifies shelf life - can someone please correct me if I am wrong ? The Military is the only one I know of that differentiate between “shelf” and "service" life. Civilian manufactures use DOM as a reference point. Sparky MAINTENANCE NOTES 2 The following Maintenance Notes are to be observed: 2.1 The life of the assembly is 15 years from date of manufacture subject to a critical inspection at 10 years. Not a chance, see attachment. Sparky This attachment has no clause for the whole under age thing. If you arent old enough to buy beer, you cant owe the shit. Till im 21 you fuckers are getting rootbeer!! Until you are 21 you can practice reading. It states very clearly that soda may be substituted for beer. Non-drinkers may buy sodas and buyers may make up any part or whole of their purchase in soda for the enjoyment of those non-drinkers. But I think you are missing the point of “beer fines”. Funny/Weird Things Your Parents Have Done For You?
mjosparky replied to LuckyMcSwervy's topic in The Bonfire
Sounds like we had a similar upbringing. Except my mom gave him the boot due to his excessive drinking. We would see him every 4-5 yrs when he would blow into town with a wad of cash and his latest wife. When I use the term 'my father' that means my biological father. When I use the term 'my dad' that means my step-dad; the guy who kept a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food on the table. Like yours, he was a hard-working blue-collar type of guy. JerryBaumchen More important, he was the guy that loved your Mom. -

Not even on person? That’s a pretty broad statement. Except maybe a DZO who does not want to deal with it, finding a TI that will accept the responsibility or a number of other things. If the jumps goes sideways, if there is a problem of any kind there is always a chance the waiver will be challenged. And even if the waiver is upheld in court someone is going to be out some big bucks. Not a chance, see attachment. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Holy shit. Where's the rest of it? Looks like it split in 2 besides the fire. Wow. That’s really going to affect resale value. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
