  1. Jerry is right, Gary would be your best source. Office phone is 951-245-1734. What is it you are looking for? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  3. If more people would take an interest in their gear I am sure there would be far fewer gear related incidents. PPM is a good place to start. Check you PM's My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. If you had trouble with this site maybe you should reconsider your continued participation in a sport requiring any quick thinking. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. The key word on a harness/container system is system. They are designed and tested as a system and the PC is a component part of that system. The best PC is the one that comes with a harness/container system. Mixing and matching is not a good idea. Reading packing manuals can be boring as shit but it is a good way to learn about gear. Good for you.
  6. And you can take that to the bank. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. How many reporters do you know? Do you know for a fact that not telling the whole story is SOP for reporters in general or just a few that you know personally? What you are doing is the same thing you are accusing reporters of doing. You are posting the written word without bothering to get “whole story”. Bias is a 2 way street. 8. If you have 2 or more jumpers in the air together they are doing "Relative work". They can call it anything they want they can't change the fact they are trying to fly "Relative" to each other.
  9. Things to ask/find out BEFORE buying a used rig. 1. Is the harness/container the correct size? a. Does the harness fit properly? b. Will the pack trays accept canopies that are the right size for your experience level? 2. Is the system free fly friendly? a. Riser covers in good shape? b. Reserve and main pin flaps? c. Bridle protection? d. BOC pocket tight? 3. Does the rig have SB’s or need upgrades? a. Hard housings for cutaway cables. b. Riser inserts for excess cable. 4. Over all condition of Harness/container system. a. Old or worn risers. b. Any stitching frayed or broken, on both harness and container. c. Excessive dirt or stains. d. Reserve PC/bridle and freebag the right size and in good shape. e. Main “D” bag the right one for system and in good shape, any tears, the grommets in good shape and stow band keepers in good shape. f. Main PC and bridle. Right choice for system, no tears, the right handle for system and check kill line for wear. g. Will system accept an AAD without modifications? I am sure I am leaving something out but you get the point. Get all your questions answered before laying down your money. Don’t rush into something your may regret a month later. Remember you are not buying bowling shoes, make sure it is right.
  10. Since you are loading it 30+ pounds more than maximum I think the smart thing to do is go back the 170 which you are only loading about 10 to 15 pounds over maximum. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. If a picture like that can make you feel inadequate you have major issues.
  12. You are right Robert. That would be true on most left hand doors like the King Air, D-18 and such. But on a C-U206 the jumpmaster should make sure the student is far enough forward in the the door for this not to happen. But when I think about it that doesn't mean it doesn't happen all the time. Come to think of it, I can remember seeing it happen on a DC-3 quite a bit. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  13. Funny how that works. It took me way too many years to figure that out.
  14. Ask your instructorr. No one here can see what you are doing at pull time. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  15. That is a call only you can make. You need to weigh how strong your feelings against Skyride are against how strong your loyalty to the DZ is. If you feel you have to bend your principal to stay then it would be time to move on. You may not agree with what they do or have done, but they have not been convicted of anything that I know of. 16. I was trained on S/L out of a C-U206. And you are right, you must look up. If your head is back and looking up you can break your arch. And it seems that a newer jumper can't arch if their head in forward and looking down. Try it sometime.
  17. Sure you are. You don't have to be "good" to jump with newbies, you just have to be safe. True statement. Several newer jumpers have told me that what I did helped them a great deal. What I did was go out and lay a base. Don' chase them at all, just lay still and let them work on docking on you. That way they can see what their movements are doing. You might make 3 or 4 jumps with them before you even get a hook up but you have to be patient. Watch them closely and on debrief give them suggestions on how to improve. Keep it light and fun for them and you will be surprised at how fast they can improve. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. And I am sorry to say I don't have a real good answer for you either. That is one of those "you gotta be there" situations I would think. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. In my opinion you are to be commended on your choice of canopies. Of course that is if your exit weight is under about 225/230 pounds.
  20. That is why Masterrig posted: e-Mail them. Direct it to one of their riggers and be sure, to include the serial number of the harness-container. You can guess all day and still be wrong. Go to the source. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. Thank you. That does put a smile on my face. Keep looking over your shoulder, you never know when I might get the urge to jump out of a damn good King Air. This “one guy in particular” wouldn't some Bozo that used to live in Nevada would it?
  22. From your profile I have no way of telling what your experience level is. But I can tell from your avatar that you were not around when almost every jumper with the time and the numbers spent time being “This Guy”. It was what they learned from the “This Guys” that taught them. Some of my mentors, the cool in word used today, were National and a World Champions. But they still took the time to help some dip shit who was having trouble figuring it all out. The newer generation of jumpers seems to be all about “what’s in it for me”. Like SS said if you were an ugly guy with 2 days growth of beard and a plug in your lip you wouldn’t get the time of day on a new DZ. Its sad but true. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
