  2. I'm not getting notifications either. I'm still getting the "reply to your post", and "new PM" messages, just not watched thread notifications. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. And 99.99% of the time you'll be right, but how will you feel when someone does find Noah's ark, or some other piece of history that most had given up on? Don't fault the guy for believing. After all, it's not hurting you, right? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. There's a decent essay on the concept of a national ID card here. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. Question: Did the Clinton administration significantly cut military, defense, and intelligence, spending? Question: Is it now necessary to 're-fund' those programs under the Bush administration? Question: Would it be necessary to divert significant funds to the previously mentioned programs if they had been properly funded during the Clinton administration? I don't think it's a gratuitous slam at all, but rather a fair question. Don't you? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  6. Wouldn't a station primarily funded by donations be more likely to align with one side or the other? I would think that for fair and honest reporting (not commentary), that you'd want a station funded by public money, and not donations. Agreed. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  8. Goddamn liberal judges. Glad it's over. Sad that you have to give up your guns. Let's head out to the range sometime, it won't kill you to rent. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Good question. Isn't it generally accepted that a longer line set means a longer recovery arc? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  11. No they aren't. Those who are serving are willing to pay a much higher price. It's unfortunate if a family loses a loved one due to a military conflict, but it's the soldiers who have proven their willingness to pay that higher price, not their families. Soldiers on active duty and in a combat zone already receive their wages tax free. Should the families of those killed on Flight 93 be exempt from paying taxes? Their family members payed the ultimate price, and from all we know, willingly. How about the families of active duty police officers, fire fighters, EMS workers, those who willingly work in high crime neighborhoods... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 12. I think that's a fine idea, really. Those who don't wish to join the military can do time as a volunteer firefighter, police officer, EMS, or any one of the many civil service jobs. Honestly, I think that this country would be a better place if more people actually served the communities that they live in. That said, if you want to limit the post-highschool service strictly to the military, I'm OK with that too. OK - Thinking more about this... Doing this would create a surplus of those in the military. The logical thing to do in this case, I think, is to put these people to work doing service projects right here in the U.S.A. However, that's going to displace the hard working fire fighters, police officers, EMS crews, etc... How do we deal with that problem? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 13. That is, in my opinion, absolutely the wrong reason to reinstate the draft. Bill, why should the families of those at war be exempt from paying taxes? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  21. What about the major broadcast networks? ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX; should they be taxed? What about CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News? Should they be taxed? I could go on.... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. Nothing to do with terrorism? NOTHING? What about that $25,000 payment to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers? If that's not sponsoring terrorism then I don't know what is. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  25. Actually, you can. I've got one grocery store card that doesn't have any personal information tied it. I simply went to the customer service desk and explained that while I enjoyed shopping at their store, I wasn't crazy about parting with all of the personal information. They gave me a card, no personal information, no questions asked. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
