  1. Maybe since he lives in NY he can skip down to Cross Keys in NJ and visit Square 3.
  2. Get video! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. I've found cool stickers at skateboard shops. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Now add Inverted Limpmonauti and I'm back in the air tomorrow! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Seems like he's not the only DZO to be formally questioned about this type of practice. See: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/03/10/2185194.htm?site=perth ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. No, satellites are predictable, and SR-71 is not. Heck there are organizations of civilians who track satellites, so other nations certainly have no problem knowing when a satellite will pass overhead, and make sure they do their clandestine activities when it is clear. Aircraft have no such predictability. Good point. So why didn't we have a new updated spy plane built? Or is that just too much money? Ever heard rumors of the "Aurora"? Some people believe that the fact the SR-71 was retired is evidence the "Aurora" has already gone operational. The F-117 was operating for a while before USAF acknowledged it. Ever hear of Skunk Works? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. I learned how to skydive at a small DZ at Bermuda Dunes back in 1996. The original DZO is retired from skydiving, but there may be someone running the place by appointment now. Bert Cotton and Albert Champagne took it over from Jamey Woodward. Not sure if either of them are still operating there, but you might call up the airport and ask. edit to add: Palm Springs Tourist Page still has them listed. Might call and see if the number is still active or not. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. **Warning...Not a rigger here** Just a thought...why not pack in the bathroom, after taking a shower, naked, while you're still damp and the air moist? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Post #719 from the previous thread. Ckret gives the size of the bag, which is a bit larger than that. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. Maintaining grips (hand holds, you called it) is doable from a slow moving plane like we normally jump from. It's near to impossible from the JET. Alot of us have tried (from the DC-9). Very few have succeeded. The force from a JET is just too strong to maintain a grip on anything. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. I highly recommend Hearst Castle, however I also highly recommend they get reservations for the day they want to tour there. It's that popular, but well worth the effort. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Perhaps it was just that group's perversion? Pity. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  14. It was also covered in Parachutist a few years back, along with a spectacular cover photo. Not so much the clarity of the photograph, but the awesome content made up for it. HERE'S a PHOTOGRAPH at the head of this web page. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. A "Her Her" for Christy Frikken! Voted by Skydiving Magazine as 2007's "Skydiver of the Year"! Go Christy!
  16. Co-worker was talking about doing it in a hot air balloon. Can you just see it...."Uhmmm, Pilot, can you just turn the other way for a bit? Thanks." ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/ptech/03/04/ipod.nike.ap/index.html I just joined a gym this past week. Now I have to get a new iPod.... For the 'techi' in you.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  20. The IPC has updated their Competition Rules and the notification came through e-mail just this morning. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/documents/sportingcode2008 For those of us involved in 4-way RW (and vRW), here are the changes they implemented. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/system/files/fs_changes_2008.pdf Looks like the video review 1/2 speed wasn't given the nod, nor the change in turn direction for block #13 (Hammer-Hammer). However, they did implement the possibility of a lower jump altitude (7,000') and reduced working time (20 seconds) for those inclement days that don't allow full altitude.
  21. Just got the e-mail that IPC has uploaded it's updates for the 2008 competition rules. I'm just starting to review the list myself, so don't have any views on the changes...yet. http://www.fai.org/parachuting/documents/sportingcode2008 http://www.fai.org/parachuting/documents/ipc ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. Paraclete XP is the most awesome wind tunnel around. Not only new, but the largest SkyVenture one in operation at this time. Often our world class competitors hold clinics and competitions there. I bet if you called them in advance they could give you a schedule of upcoming events. That way your son could meet some of the best in the world when he goes the distance to get a taste of the sky. Just a thought.
  23. Don't know if this is what happened to this particular jumper, but there have been other stories of skydivers getting their RW suit booties hooked on a C-182 step. Once the bootie is hooked it's pretty difficult to undo when you've got a force of around 80+ securing it there. Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. NBC has been showing teasers all week long about their "10 Scariest Escapes from Death" program at 7pm PST tonight. It's supposed to include this story. Sorry for the other time zones...If you didn't tune in already you missed it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. Body Worlds is coming back to LA this spring. Very impressive display full of mind blowing separation of systems. My favorite was the complete circulatory system, by itself, still held in body shape. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
