Well, Keith...since we were supposed to have an early and full day today (thursday) in our JFTC endevour, I did not partake in that part of the celebration. That will come after the record is achieved! However, it is true that wherever Oscar is (video extrodinaire) there is bound to be too much fun! That, I found, it -very- true! .... what he said! LETS SEE ELENA!!!!! Ok, guys! Did a little browsing on PerrisCam. Now, this photo doesn't really do her justice, but here's a picture of Elena with her team. She's the tall svelt woman in the teal colored jumpsuit, Javelin Odessy rig and white helmet. Kneeling in front. Elena btw, it's been really impressive meeting her this week! We know many of the same 4-way and 8-way Open competitors. She adores the Airspeed boys and get this.....she is the videographer for the Russian 8-way Open team! skybytch! Missed you at the party at the Italian restaurant this evening! We had the place packed (and very loud) with JFTC ladies (and men). Hope they'll let us back in, 'cause the whole crowd of us got a bit (drunk) and rowdy by the end of the meal. Best socialization day indeed. ltdiver PS You're more than welcome in the team room. Interesting that you should ask. I'm wearing my "Parachutes Over Palm Springs" t-shirt right now. Memories of my student days. They do have (or had) a Cessna DZ there at Bermuda Dunes airport, but I'm not sure if it's still up and running. I'm with Spy and indyz. Immediately set my toggles on the riser velcro and stow the brakes when packin'. Two reasons. --To get me out of the HOT Southern CA sun as quickly as possible! --To make room for the other canopies coming down. Don't want to be a target for either too much sun or too many hooking canopies coming down around the bit of grass we call the 'desired' landing area. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
On the other hand, I had the bite switch and I -did- get too much helmet movement with each bite. I got the tongue switch and it misbehaved on me once (shooting the whole roll with the first shot input). This only happened once, though. It never happened again. It works great now. I think that the shrink-wrap might have been a bit too tight on the tongue switch I got and with one use it 'loosened' up enough to never be a problem again. Two of the tandem instructors were from Perris. Vinny Palmieri and Brett Townsley! Awesome vacation work guys! Wonder who was the lucky one who got the hysterically crying girl. She did it, though!
