  1. What, you wanted to stick around for our earthquake this morning? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. I had a friend and his family who did just this. He applied to Canada for immigration status and was accepted. Health care benefits for his family intact. He did it legally...no trying to circumvent the system...and won. I have great respect for him. Wish others (not you GeorgiaDon, 'cause you're also going about this the legal way) who would follow his example. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  4. Question. If you're working legally, then yes you should be able to collect what you've invested (after the retirement age like the rest of us have to wait for). If you're not working legally, then how did you get a social security number to ID you for the withdraw of the funds? A visitor to this country -can- get a social security card, but it has a letter in addition to the numbers on the card and it is expressly for identification so you can, say, open a bank account. It is -not- for legal employment. And if a person -does- work with that card (or another person's number), legally they have to be denied all benefits. A person, in this country, must either be a legal citizen or have a work visa to be able to work here. If someone with either of those documents, works....they hell yeah they can collect what they put in. However, if they do not fall in this category....hell -no-. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Maybe we need to take a harder look at this. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. When I visited Finland, their system impressed me. I talked with people there who were very happy with their life. Also, I admire the medical research of Sweden. Some of the best concepts have come out of there. Then there is Norway. I'd have to talk to the people from that country, but it seems everyone who goes to BASE jump there has a wonderful time.
  7. (cough, bush, cough, viet nam) Those that do not study the past . . . Didn't know the subject of this thread had changed. We -were- talking about retirement funds.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. Interesting.... http://news.webindia123.com/news/showdetails.asp?id=86542&cat=Entertainment U.S. death video not OK on British TV:- LONDON | June 07, 2005 9:11:35 PM IST Britain's television watchdog has reprimanded the ITV television network for airing U.S. reality video footage of a skydiver crashing to his death. The independent Office of Communications responded to a single viewer complaint of the footage showing an in-fall collision that killed one skydiver and crippled another from the U.S. show When Good Times Go Bad. ITV argued numerous warnings were given in advance of the clip, and said the footage was relatively indistinct and inexplicit, the Guardian reported Tuesday. However, in its reprimand, the regulator noted how a spray of red was visible on impact, and pointed out what it described as the obvious distress of the cameraman. 9. Actually, I just got a letter for a Class Action lawsuit against Apple and their faulty batteries. I have a 3rd Generation iPod. If the battery has gone bad, Apple will replace it or repair it, no charge (if they win). For a 3rd Generation iPod, if my battery will not hold a charge and play for a minimum of 4 hours (continuous playing), then my unit qualifies for the lawsuit. A 1st or 2nd Generation iPod has to pass the 5 hour test, or they will qualify as well. Time for a test run.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  11. Yes, you are correct. I does work. Remember the people I hung around with at the start of my skydiving career. Even though communism is not in power (overtly at least) in their country anymore, they still believe that if it had reached its true potential it would have been great! However, these same people are no longer living in their country. They came over here, tasted what they call 'the good life' and stayed. They applied (legally) and are now living and earning a much better life than they ever dreamed of before. They -now- send money back to their parents and support -them-. There is a saying in a socialist country I know....I was taught it by a very good friend of mine who lives there. "Tall poppies will be cut down". Its called the "Tall Poppy Syndrome". In other words, if you work hard and find yourself successful, the other people will work hard to bring you down to their level. They hate other people's success...and want you back with them. Even though we work hard, and this is the way that people find worth in themselves, I would never give up the way this country was founded. To give each and every one of us the chance to make what we would with ourselves. And damn to those who would try and bring us down. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  19. Better make that Sunday. I'll be doing a demo into an airshow on Saturday.
  20. How so? Wouldn't it be true that the newest software, after the Intel swap, will not be compatible with the 'older' Mac machines (like the new G5 that just came out). The Intel chips are rumored to be in all Macs by 2007. That would make the 2005 G5's (and my lovely G4's) incompatible. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
