  1. Any lens is better than the kit lens. My first advice would be to replace that piece of plastic junk.
  2. Browsing through Elsinore's Daily Pics, and picked up this! Oh baby! http://skydiveelsinore.com/around-the-dz/2006.Sept.24/2006.Sept.24-Pages/Image65.html Luv ya, Deuce! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Right: Blue when outside. Green when inside. They had a heck of a time matching my left eye to my right... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Went to the LA County Faire this past wednesday evening and had me some of that. It started with the idea of a deep fried twinkie (which by the way is -very- good!
  5. Along with what everyone else is contributing, I've found that with my digital camera an ISO of 200 is needed to equal the ISO of 100 with my film camera. Don't know why, but 200 has always worked out better with the digital. Food for thought. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. You're at Elsinore again, you bum! We're here at Perris this 3-day weekend too! Come on over the hill when you're done tomorrow. Might finally get that Sushi! My team's up for it on Saturday night...
  7. Wow. That's beautiful. Thanks for sharing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

    Perris Fury?

Sorry, 'soon to be wed man'. Don't have them with me here, but I'm sure NSL will have them posted soon. As to 'the rest of the story', I think it better told by those on the leader teams.

    Perris Fury?

Ron, You should have been there at the final SSL Meet at Elsinore today. Both Fury and Gravity did an outstanding job and it was a nail biter clear until the end, with the teams posting identical scores most of the rounds....even had to go to a jump-off extra round, which they tied as well! Gravity and Fury. What a match-up today! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. We all would die. Done. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. Thanks for making me grin this morning, John! That was great! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. It's been awhile since I was there, but my sister and her husband used to go twice a month for long weekends. They had a sailboat (Catalina 25) and would sail out on Friday morning and come back early Monday morning (leaving at 4am to make it back for work the next week). They would anchor off any cove they liked and enjoy the adventure. I only went to Avalon Bay but they'd disappear to Emerald Bay and the like other times. They'd go so much that they just put their boat in a slip in Long Beach and hop onboard whenever they liked. Even took their newborn son with them when he was only 2 weeks old! He's now 25 and in the Navy....Go figure. When I would travel over with them (yes a long, but very fun sailing trip each time when you could watch the dolphins (or sharks) swimming alongside), we would anchor off Avalon and enjoy hiking up the island from there. I remember several gardens and Wriggly's Castle. The bayside eateries were nice, too as was Avalon Museum. Snorkling offshore could be an adventure. Pretty cold water, though! Have fun and let us know what you found when you get back.
  13. 1. Depends on when you get there. The early bird gets the worm. Most teams get to Nat's at least a day (or two) early, in my experience. However, now that they're more savy they -know- to bring their own cameraflyer instead of relying on a 'pool'. The first year this rule changed I was amazed how many teams came unprepared. It's less common now, but there's always one or two who still do it. 2. Write your own ticket. If the team agrees, fine. If not, they're sure going to negotiate (or go looking elsewhere). Bring footage of your camera work (RW perferable) as proof of your skill. Most teams, even the less experienced ones, would like something nice to watch even if they're not in the same zipcode in the air. Do you have the skill for that? 3. Most experienced cameraflyers are taken care of as far as lodging and competition fees. You buy your own eateries, though. 4. It's all good. A committed team for the year is best. I've shot two National's teams (4-way) as freelance as well and had a blast those years. Met some great people and have made friends for life from those experiences. One's actually my teammate this year! Yeah! Most important, have fun. Meet people. Hob Nob. You'll love every minute of it.
  14. That's LTdiver to you, sir. Anywho, Sony has a special on right now for Sony Camcorder Trade-ins/Upgrade. Although I really don't like their current consumer (non-Pro) line, they'd do in a pinch for a newbie. Interesting that their Refurbished cameras has run out of the PC/TRV models first....goes to show you there's some discriminating consumers out there....somewhere.... ltdiver (LTDIVER) Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Ah, a thread that never dies....resurrected after 3 years in the depths of dz.com..... One of my fav's...as a drinking game. Try taking a shot every time they say 'Cutaway'... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  17. Just finished watching Murderball. Reminds me what we need to do, no matter what befalls us. Continue to fight! Quadrugby is played at our local University. I've never taken the time to go and see it, but now after watching this great movie I'm definitely going to make the time. Oh, and you know....the game is played co-ed! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. He's not either, the old fart! Love ya, John!
  19. Yeah, there's jumping but the heat almost matches their age! HOT HOT HOT! Good luck to all those old farts....
