So here is the thing. I was at the dz yesterday with some new found freinds. they took a look at my log and was asking what I was good at. Then they were a little amazed to find that at 29 jumps I have jumped a 4 way a couple of 3 way and could move real good. Just about a 12 of my jumps have been 2 ways. I didn't think anything of it, but then come to find I had a pretty goo student progrestion. I was just wondering what the norm was for everyone? How many jumps did you have before you started a little CRW and RW. I got to do CRW for the first time yestersday and I love it. so this weekend I was at the dz. I was denoing some gear ( witch i am going to buy now) and the last jump of the day we did a cross country. We opened at 9500 and played around. Now i just have my A but the two guys I was with both had there D. I was a little nervous flying so close to people, but it was the coolist thing. We did a little side by side, and we stacked them. well I really don't need to ask because i already know the answer. But here is the thing. My wife is going to Thatcher for fri and sat. I saw this as a "excape". Now don't get me wrong, I love my wife. But I was schedualed to work on sat at the fire dept. Well today My B.C. called me at the hosp and said I didn't have to come in on Sat. That the shift was covered. well my wife got this message before I did and now she thinks I am free to go with her. well i had planned on going out to jump on fri, scence I wouldn't be able to go anyway......now I don't want to miss that, because I onl;y get to go about once a week as it is. So i guess my real question is, How can I break it to my wife without starting house war 101? Any suggestions would be great. I have told her that I plan to pick up a shift at the hosp on sat so I don't lose out on the money.....I like that stuff!!! When I first started reading the forums, I had to ask what a wuffo was. Now that I am about 4 months into the sport, and have my lic., and jump just about 1-2 times a week I realize they are everywhere. Those darn wuffo's...my parents...my freinds...my co-worker (including boss)...my wife, heck i bet my dog would ask if he could. They just don't get what a thrill it is to fell, in my opinion, toaly free of everything for 60 sec at a time. My parents came to the drop zone for the first time last sat. They sat and watch some come down, but they lpanned it so they didn't have to watch me. It still scares them to think of there son jumping. They didn't plan it very well because they managed to drive up just as I got under canopy, all they could really say was, "that was cool, why do you do it?" If they only knew. I guess it really payed off because they are buy my gear. i think it is because if I die, they can say it was all my fualt. Thought i would share that cool news with ya all. Well, I am buying my first rig. I am demoing it on friday and had a quick question. It is a Jav. with a triatholon 190. Now I have heard great thing about this canopy. it will be a 1:1 with my exit wieght and people have said it will be a good 1st canopy as well. Now I, of coure, and found out it is a 7 cell. Well I did it, I got through my hellish week, 5 12 hour shifts and a 8. I am leaving in a couple to head for the DZ. I need to get back into the field on the truck like I use to. this shift work shit is for the birds. Figured i would do it for the experiance. But anyway, I can't wait. I wanna do some 2 ways and some 3 ways and some freeflying, and some hop and pops and some high openings and some BEER!!!!!. See ya all on the ground. Well, yesterday I did it! I finished of my A license. It only took me just a little under two months. So I did the last jump on the sunset load......all by my self. It was the first time I ever went all by my self. I have jumped by my self, but there was other people in the plane with me. It was really cool to just sit there and know that the air was going to be all mine. I got a rig on the way and a supportive wife. Can't wait for the next boogie, so i an up my numbers a little more. I went back to yuma to visit the folks and they had a story waiting for me. Now it relates in two ways. First, I use to work for the wildland fire team in yuma. Second, this wildland fire was started be a skydiver. Now my parent are pretty up on the news, but then agian it came from the news. If you can correct it with hard core fact, i would love to know if the story is true the way I heard it. So hear it goes. GK train in yuma, as I am sure you all know. Well I guess on one of there practice jumps one of the smoke canisters came loose and started a wildland fire. Because of Yumas natural dryness, and the fact this is one of the dryest winters we have had, it took out 1000 acres before being contained. I am just wondering if anyone else heard it. I am confussed. I was toldtoday that I need 25 for a A license. When I got home I read my 2003 sims and it said 20. The web site says 20. Has anyone heard of anything that says different. good point with the G's, butin the long run, time is your main concern in EMS. You don't know what is wrong and have very little to work with, and at 10000 you have even less to work with. The dive would have to be situational depending on stability and patint condition. But most deff. have the pilot declare an emergancy. It is a hard situation to figure out with out being there. problem at 10,000+, Well I would have the pilot start back for the air field with radio in hand to have airport emergancy personel there(if aval.) and maybe even have anyone that is of no help or in the way bail out. Then I might be able to do what I could for the person with out equipment ( which isn't much more then getting a airway and maybe compresions). Lets face it guys, in the air you are like a mormon in a whore house, you could get fucked quick. The only thing I could think of is airway breathing circulation and treat for shock. Anything else would take a act of god. I guess a fast dive plane could be of some good use. And let your dad know that he did a good job, the guy is alive. just to add another point, as a skydiver and a firefighter I know where to cut and what equipment can come off without getting ruined. Other poeple wont and they also wont care. And unfortunatly for us skydiving is not something someone talks about in there courses they have to take. My suggestion is, get them where they are tought. Don't go to the employees, that mountain is to high to climb. Go to the instructors, because everyone has to get renewed sometime.
