I've seen that ad. Like I need another excuse to spend a bucket of money. I have an older SST I bought used from my DZ. I really like my Racer. I have never had any problems with the velcro. I had Jumpshack retro fit the shoulder tuck tabs and replace all the velcro and a good wash repack etc. after I bought it. Came back to me in about a week like brand new. Its good stuff. I heard about that and saw the pictures. Looked really spetacular. I was kind of joking about ATC, but not really. we are in between 2 small municipal airports. A friend of mine had a REEEEEALLY close encounter with some fast moving aircraft recently, and we have had some incursions lately, right through our airspace. This is a private airport. I don't think I would go with fewer than 3 or 4 canopies for visibilty's sake. Still it sounds like fun. Thanks for the input everybody. Be prepared. Talk to people who have spent time in these places, like councelors and such. I have spent a little time doing some volunteer work in these lockups. Been thinking about a nice long cross country. Maybe bail out at altitude and pull by 12K or so. I'm assuming this is at the discretion of the DZ management. So what really constitutes a cross country?How many miles out, depending on uppers and such? Any one do this Much. Is it a CRW jump with friends? Need a compass or road map? Thoughts? Comments? I have a Hornet 190 loaded at a little over 1:1. I really love this canopy. It's zippy enough for me when I want and flies nice and flat when i need it. It has a huge slider, which can be a little hard to reach, and I have only experienced one moderate spanking. It turns great and landings are nice and smooth. Lots of forward glide and tons of flare. Even on no wind days I can stand this one up. I plan on driving this until I need it for a car cover. How much disassembly does it take? I mean both canopies come out obviusly, but the rest of the hardware stays on right?? I sent my Racer back to Jumpshack when I first got it( used) for some modifications and a repack. It came back looking brand new. Without the modifications (shoulder tuck tabs ) it was pretty reasonable, and it was back to me in about ten days. April 28,2002. Last jump of the day. Perfect Sunday afternoon, except for that low turn to close to mother earth. She reached out and touched me so hard I was carted off with a compound fracture above the left ankle. Wicked ass scar. Nine months of recovery. First return jump was perfect Twenty or so later, I'm REEEEEAL careful close to the ground. Just couldn't walk away from a sport that has taught me so much about living. Blu Skies!
