  1. the sad thing was, so was I. I couldn't figure out if it was a joke, or if he really can get his BMs to do tricks and formations MB 3528, RB 1182
  2. I wonder if that site wasn't just set up by democrats who didn't like how republicans tried to impeach Clinton. just my 2 cents, not trying to start a political debate MB 3528, RB 1182
  3. I think thats pretty scary... I mean, most skydivers (myself included) leave their gear lying around at the dz... the worst thing that they think could happen is somebody could steal it. But now we have to worry about somebody intentionally trying to kill us?!?!??! I really hope they catch the fucker who did it. MB 3528, RB 1182
  4. "A flying-squirrel jumpsuit" ?!?!? Something tells me a whuffo wrote that headline MB 3528, RB 1182
  5. well actually, I just jumped with my contacts for the (sigh) FIRST time. I was wearing a nice set of goggles, but no helmet. I lost my right contact during a sitfly, and lost my left contact during a tracking jump. Luckily, one of my contacts stuck to the inside of my goggles, so I only ended up losing one contact. Anyways, I think the bottom line is: if you are jumping with contacts, you need to wear a helmet... because even the open faced helmets help your goggles stay on better. Also, if your vision is pretty bad (i.e. you can't land safely without glasses or contacts), maybe tuck your glasses inside your jumpsuit for your first few jumps with contacts... just in case the contacts pop out. 6. damn you Remster!!! I get to point out the urban legends!!!! stupid boogie... if I would have been here, and not skydiving, I could have beat you to it. MB 3528, RB 1182
  7. For me it really all depends on what the other people are doing... if they all throw their rigs inside their gear bags unpacked, then it would be a great travesty to make them wait for me to pack before they can roll up the carpet and go home. at my dz, I usually try to pack on their carpet rather than the stuff I have in my room... the dz's carpet gets vacuumed at least once a year, unlike my carpet MB 3528, RB 1182
  8. yeah man, keep em coming. Also, any other guys with video, post em up. and for you people not at Raeford, we did 3 raft jumps, a birdman flock, and a sunset tracking dive. and that was just today. MB 3528, RB 1182
  9. or, you could think about it a different way: maybe the pilot realized that to save himself via parachute, it would mean his friend would die. So perhaps he never even tried to jump, but instead he stayed at the controls, trying to crash land the plane, so both their lives would be saved. unfortionately, the plane was damaged too much, and they died in the crash. I think this view is a little less cynical, but also a little less funny MB 3528, RB 1182
  10. actually, you are correct. I got mixed up and switched the words, but then screwed up again. shoulda checked before I posted. yet, my point is still valid... why is leg neuter, and the neck masculine ?!?!?!?! Who decided this stuff, the german literary god?? MB 3528, RB 1182
  11. its true, english is a very difficult langauge to learn... but at least it doesn't have those stupid "masculine", "feminine", and "neuter" forms of "the". I'm learning german, and I still can't figure out why a leg is "masculine", and a neck is "feminine" MB 3528, RB 1182
  12. alright people, weather update: July 4th high of 92, 10% chance of rain. July 5th looks the same. Continue praying to the weather gods though also, I got my raft today, and its in good condition! MB 3528, RB 1182
  13. I also want to support the skydiving industry, but I'm not gonna pay three times as much. I mean, when a quality duffel bag costs me $25, and a special skydiving duffel bag costs me around $90, well, I'm gonna support the military surplus store. of course, I am also a pennyless college skydiver, aka cheap bastard MB 3528, RB 1182
  14. chris, there was always ads in the Colligian from some discount student airfare place... with really low prices... like 200 bucks roundtrip to paris or something. However, I can't remember their name and I don't have a copy of the colligan handy... I think it was sta or cta travel... also, if you buy your ticket directly from the airline, always ask if they have student fares... sometimes they do, and its worth a shot. MB 3528, RB 1182
  15. I actually went to walmart and couldn't find one I liked. But try a military surplus store... they have both army duffel bags, and really cheap, but strong normal duffle bags. MB 3528, RB 1182
  16. Hear that thud? Its the sound of hundreds of skydivers hitting their heads on their keyboards. MB 3528, RB 1182
  17. if you gonna get prescription stuff, you may want to think about getting either Claritin-D, or Allegra-D.... both of them are for allergies with a decongestent in them. I have taken both of them, and they really do clear out your sinuses. MB 3528, RB 1182
  18. Tomorrow? I'm seeing it tonight at 8:00. its now official... you are a bastard for saying that. MB 3528, RB 1182
  19. my guess is that altimaster II's can be used as both chest mount, and wrist mount. Altimaster III's can really only be used on the hand mount. however, I really think the price difference is because so many more altimaster III's are made than the alti II's. Therefore, they are cheaper because there are more factories churning em out. anyways the black alti IIIs sound like a good deal. I have a black one, and except that scratches show up a little easier on black, it works great. MB 3528, RB 1182
  20. You are either the perfect woman....or some bad man's soon-to-be worst nightmare. Possibly both. MB 3528, RB 1182
  21. I thought it was an ok idea until I read this. Sure feed the bird to the snake, but I pity the poor baby bird sitting there in absolute fear while the snake inspected and touched it for 15 minutes. I know thats natural and you couldn't do anything about it, but still, its like a serial killer poking his victim with a knife for 15 minutes before he finally starts stabbing. MB 3528, RB 1182

  23. I have also seen that happen. A guy at our DZ came in for a straight-approach landing, flared at the right time, and he came straight down... hard. He broke his ankle. And there were no wind obstructions for about a mile I think its just one of those inherent risks in skydiving, such as a sudden dustdevil while landing... theres not much you can do about it, and worrying about it will just bring you stress. MB 3528, RB 1182
  24. ok ok ok, everybody just calm down, maybe $500 was a little too low.
  25. I spanked the monkey at 475 mph... so I guess I'm a faster monkey-spanker than crazy ivan, but hawkbit sure has me beat. (no pun intended) MB 3528, RB 1182
