Yeah, but it was way to fast...it was almost hard to judge. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

When I look left and right, I can see right above me. Put your back to something...Turn your head all the way left and look left....Then right..You can see everything, without turning around. You get a 360 degree view. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I agree with Quade... I can see what I need by looking left and right. You loose a good amount of lift when you do this, and you can do the same check by looking left and right. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I know you are joking here John. However, I look up not to avoid MY group, but the OTHER groups on the plane. I look around during my track for the guys on my group, the guys that left before me, and the group that left after me. On a big way you only have to worry about YOUR big ass group. Most of them will be on the same level (Or so we hope), and moving in the same direction (again we hope). But on a small way (Like 4way) there are several groups, several different levels, and different tracking directions. I only MAX track on a full plane formation. I keep my head up on anything else. But its not like I have to track like hell from a 4way. I do think most peoples tracks suck. There is not enough talk about it. PD starts its canopy classes with tracking....I used to find that funny, later I found out why. Ground him for what? Being stupid? He had a license, and there are no BSR's against being stupid. Some of us tried, and got yelled at... And I will never get this either...If a guy has one more jump than me, or one more year in the sport...I listen to them. I may not agree, or comply, but I don't tell them to piss off. And as long as you treat it like a back up device, then you are taking the correct attitude....However in recent years there has been a trend to RELY on them. If you buy one because you are afraid "you will forget to Pull"....You need to look at another hobby. After all, take away freeflying, RW big and small ways, boards, wingsuits...ect...Skydiving is about jumping from a plane and landing safe. If you doubt that you can do that without the aid of a cool black box....You are in the wrong sport. As for my teammate...well yes I wish he had a CYPRES so I could have kicked his ass for doing something that fucking stupid, insted of putting him in the ground. But it should be said that he would have been fine if he had pulled his reserve also. And when I think back to this accident I don't blame him for not having a CYPRES, I blame him for not pulling his reserve. My 4way teammate burned in with a perfect reserve on his back. It happens. Start Rant (Not aimed at anyone): Still if you HAVE to have a CYPRES, you might want to rethink this sport. It will never be a "safe" sport. And buying a CYPRES just to cover up your lack of confidence with yourself is stupid. End Rant. A really stupid thing to have happen. If you don't have the confidence that you will pull, you should quit now. Buying a CYPRES becasue you think you might "forget" to pull is a VERY pathetic reason to buy one. You should insted invest in another hobby if you think that way. Being dependent on the damn thing is stupid. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

The tracking dives I have been on I had to use a delta to stay with them....If I used a max flat track they fell away from me. So maybe the best way to practice is just do a solo, and really work the body position. FWIW...I don't do a "Perfect" track....I keep my head up so I can see where I am going....Not perfect, but safer. Well since you are living with Page....I figured you would chip in.... And I think Page is doing a good job. But the question still was not answered. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

And yet you still never answered the question? What was wrong with the rig? I agree they have good customer service, but why did they have to re do your rig? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Dude he just wrote: Now, how did you read that? He is saying that he has done his share of holding hands...So is it an issue with him not thinking that there needs to be something inplace, or is it that he does not care....The quote makes me think its the 2nd one. As you like to say: Have any hard numbers to prove that? Or is it just a guess? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Well ok then. I was wrong. But the theory that dumping in track to speed up the opening has been around for sometime. I have been told it many times.... And when I am on a big way...(Yeah like I do those anymore) I dump in a track to just to keep getting away from everyone else. Distance away is distance away. Ok thats you...But thats not everyone. Some of us care about the sport, the future of it and the people in it. But if you don't care, why argue the point? Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I knew it had a snowballs chance, but at least they are now looking into it. I have very little faith in the USPA fixing anything. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

And as I have asked before John... How do we make them learn? And if they refuse, do we let them do as the wish anyway? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I think it is clear that if someone hooks in they were over their heads. I agree the issue is people doing things they are not experienced enough to do...However the problem is increased as the wingload gets higher. A bad landing under a 1.2 is a femur at a 1.5,and could be fatal at a 2.0. Do you not agree that a high wingload increases the risk? You think we get shit for saying that that canopy is too small for you....Wait until we tell you that your attitude under canopy sucks. (not you, I think you have a pretty good approach, but we still have had our issues with this right?) The big egos under small canopies are not going to listen to us for one second if we say anything about them not having the right attitude. They will ignore us. Hell they don't listen now. This guy was known to be in the danger zone. People asked him to be careful, he ignored them. They made him promise not to do the swoop course...He ignored them. I knew this guy...He was a good guy....But he had an ego. I had talked to him years ago when I was in Raeford about canopies....He ignored me. Most of the people fighting this WL stuff say "Its my businesses what I jump leave me alone. It my right to do as I please...Back off me!" The reason I went for regulation is because most people don't listen to advice. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

While I agree that Wings has good customer service.... Why did they have to do so much to make it right? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
