It exploded at 8:15am JST at 2,000 feet. Requests were made my the US for Japan to surrender. They were recieved and ignored. At 11:02 a.m. on August 9, 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped over the city of Nagasaki. It was only after this weapon was used that the Emperor (Who is viewed as a God) asked congress to surrender.
